  • In this video I wrap up the metal miter saw station for the shop. I haven't put it through its paces yet, but first impressions are good. It has to be better than the previous setup we had!! Links to our favorite tools are in the description below, thanks for watching.

    Dear Sir, I’m envious of your workshop complete with 8 x 4 plasma cutter. The ideas behind your dual cutoff saw tables are good. Thanks for sharing.

      Thanks so much for the nice comment. It has worked very well. We now have a couple of years of use on it, and I love being able to keep things on my benches and use my miter station at the same time. It is a wonderful solution, and I think if I did a better job of doing a video on it, it would have more views : )

    Nice work. I have been toying with angles for my chop saw for awhile and the industrial lazy susan gets you the gold star.

    Most thoughtful and accessible design I think I have seen for the serious hobbyist/pro level shop.
    I have to agree that it’s so annoying moving everything off a flat surface just to cut one length of material. Drives me nuts. Good luck with your channel and thanks for your video and ideas. Now subscribed. I’m # 720! Cheers

    Very nice! I really like the turntable design. Is the spring loaded detent the only thing used to keep saw from turning on the axis? Links for turntable & detent? Great content!

      That is the only thing : ) Links are below. I removed the rubber cover from the turn table.

    Is it possible that you would get less dross with your plasma table if you drop the water level just a couple millimeters? Nice work thanks for sharing!

    • @Knacksmith
      @Knacksmith  Před 2 lety

      Dross control is based primarily on the settings of your machine, the travel speed and your cutting height : ) The water needs to be as high as possible to catch as much of the fumes as possible, and to keep your work as cool as possible. Less distortion that way, especially on stainless and aluminum. Thanks for commenting.

    How or why are your fireball squares black?

    • @Knacksmith
      @Knacksmith  Před 3 lety

      Thank you! Those fireball squares come that way. That is a black oxide coating to help prevent corrosion, and it gives them a little resistance to weld spatter as well. Without it, the cast iron would be pretty prone to rusting. Fortunately, were I live that is not much of a problem.
