This week I have dredged up some older footage from when I repaired the quarter panels on a 1957 Chevrolet Belair. My new one wont come out.
I just realized the pin needs to be much smaller than the hole to be able to rotate
I’m glad you figured it out!
After all these episodes I somehow missed, or forgot, that you went to flight school. Which one? I was an Army Aviator.
I went to San Juan College & Mesa Pilot Development. Graduated in 1991, and then straight to my first airline job. Thanks for watching!
Ah! You had to remove the lower quarter
Yes, you need plenty of room.
I seen this before. I've read since that what your doing isn't possible? Without removing a quarter?
You definitely need as much room as you can make!
Who makes a good complete trunk floor replacement? Need recommendations please
NPD has a great supply of metal. I would start my search there. Thanks for watching!
@@AllisonCustoms thanks went with them ! My order is coming 3-4 weeks .
Awesome! Congrats on finding a way to spend many, many hours of your time! 😁
I have an identical forklift. It is 1952 or 53 with the original red paint. No smoke. Replaced chain, front brake pads, front tires, lift cylinder, propane regulator, oil filter, hydraulic pump rebuilt, and it is still working great. It is still at 6 volt. No horn or lights, and broken temp gauge and missing gasoline gauge. Grinds when placing in gear so the clutch probably needs some adjustment. Been using it for over 25 years. Very interesting videos.
Very cool! - Mine grinds going into too, but works perfectly otherwise! Thanks for watching!
Thank you very much!
You're welcome!
Great video; Thank you!

Question does the inner seal also help hold the axel in place or just prevents differential fluid from reaching the brakes? I followed pretty much step-by-step but I forgot to put in the inner seal in the axle. That's why I'm asking
I would say, it has nearly nothing to do with holding the axle. But if it is missing, it will definitely let a lot of fluid into the axle tube. My recommendation would be to/e to go back and install the inner seals.
@@AllisonCustoms thank you I'm doing it tomorrow. I believe that's what led to my passenger side bearings premature failure after only 100 miles.
Good luck, I hope that helps!
Where did you get that metal oil pan?
I think I got mine at Northern Tool. I had to replace the pump because it leaked from the pump case. There are several on Amazon some that look to be the exact same. Also, the top grate (or whatever you call it) is very flimsy, I cut a piece of 1/4” thick expanded metal to put on there and then put the original back on top to help catch small parts. We tried setting a small transmission on it at one point and the original grate just folded up. Hense the HD upgrade. It rolls really well and with the new pump it works great. I might consider an electric pump version, but then you need a power source every time you want to empty it.???? *** The following links are Amazon Associate links and do help support the channel - using them does NOT add additional cost to the buyer. *** DMC-FPPS Oil Drain Pan 17 Gallon Oil Drain Tank with Hand Pump - (very similar to mine, I like the pump up front): amzn.to/3VLdJ0F VEVOR Oil Drain Pan 15 Gallon Oil Drain Tank (rear pump - may cause issues getting it under some lower vehicles): amzn.to/4bW0sYV VEVOR Oil Drain Pan, 15 Gallon Oil Drain Pan with Electric Pump: amzn.to/45wxz38 Thanks for the watching and commenting!
Did you have to use pex with an oxygen barrier? Thanks
Yes, it is required in the slab
So you got it off without pulling the balancer cause I’m having a hard time with getting it off seems like it’s stuck on the balancer
Pulling the balancer might make it easier. If you do, the balancer bolt is torque to yield, so you’ll need to replace it.
Thank you will do
hi, I have a 79 International Scout Two is it possible I can buy a backseat already set up by you for my 79 International
I could get the seat and all of the brackets for you, but there are four pockets/brackets that would have to be welded into the floor of the truck. The seat and all are fairly easy to acquire, let me know what you think and what your budget is.
hi, I have a 79 International Scout Two is it possible I can buy a backseat already set up by you for my 79 International
What happened to the wind up tool for fitting clips? it was on thr bench til the video was nearly through. The best tool out of all of them, I know you have to use a different type of clip.
I think I showed it in a separate video later.
Thanks for the help
I hope the video did help. Thanks for the comment!
How did you attach the supporting bracket on the back of the radio (not shown installed) and then to the chassis/dash?
If I remember correctly, there is a hole on the back of the radio that you can install a small bolt. The n I used a piece of strapping to attach it to the underside of the dash.
What an informative video. Thank you. Seriously, i aa just now in the process of cutting the drip rails off my 68 C10 and yoir way of doing is hands down the best presentation ive warched. Im following your guidelines exactly. I deeply appreciate you.
Glad it helped! Thanks for commenting!
Going around a curve that has raised cracks in the road, in my 04, is a scary situation. In that situation there is so much air time in the rear that control is lost a bit.
Hopefully we can fix that!
Excelente
Thank you!
How high is the whole bench???
It’s right around 38” to the top. Perfect height for me when standing or using a stool.
I think Dakota Digital will do a similar process for $1000 plus for an old gauge. I’m liking your ingenuity and price point much better. Nice work
Thanks. It is fun to try new things and at under 20 bucks, I really couldn’t go too wrong. There is a place in CA - Redline Gauge Works (I believe) they do great work, and I’ve had them do some client gauges. Not cheap, but very nice looking.
I’ve got a dead amp gauge floating in the dash of my 72 Scout II too. I’m sitting on the edge of my seat!
Now you know of one way to fix it.
Very clean indeed
Sure is! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Nice video ,of converting a three wire alternator to a one wire alternator. Also nice to know you can spin the rear housing of the alternator to set the field wire connectors from the nine o clock to the three o clock position on the alternator.
Thanks. Many, many tears ago, I worked at Checker Auto, and if we didn’t have the right alternator in stock we would just a go to the back and reclock them. I got pretty good at doing it without dropping the brushes - that was a long time ago, in a land far far away.

I just picked up a fairly clean '01 Dakota base 4cyl/5spd that will eventually get a 3rd gen Hemi later down the road!
Awesome! Congrats on a good buy, I hope you stay tuned for the rest of this build.
@@AllisonCustoms I posted his video on the Viking coilovers he used. He's a great guy! Message him He's really helpful
Thanks.
what are the holes in the top of the torque box for and arent they being covered up by that toe board? I know the one is for the e brake but its confusing because the ebrake lever is in the cab and this seems like it would route the cable into the engine bay?
To my knowledge the e brake cable is run completely under the car and then comes into the cabin (thru the firewall) very near the top of the pedal assembly. Here is a link I found that show the routing. www.concoursmustang.com/forum/index.php?topic=19118.0
@@AllisonCustoms thanks for the reply. I did more research and im pretty sure it doesnt enter the firewall. the torque box you saw has those two little holes top left, and then the channel exit just to the right of those. The channel runs inside the torque box with the entrance at the bottom. so the cable runs through there and so I would think you gotta cut a hole in the toe board for the cable to come up through that channel. the two extra holes im told are just relief holes whatever that means
When the owner gets ready to start back on that project, I’ll have to pull all my assembly manuals out and take a look. That car has been under a cover for about 18 months waiting on the owner. So, I honestly haven’t put a whole lot of thought into Mustangs in a while.
Love the build videos. Your Dana 44/30 videos helped me tremendously with my Scout build. I’m in the process now of researching fuel pump for efi. If a in-line pump was used could the sending unit flow enough fuel volume for a little 258 efi?
Thanks for the compliment! Yes, I think the stock fuel line size would work, however (at least on my truck) the fuel line is some kind of plastic and I doubt it would stand up to the pressure. So, I would say, plan to replace the fuel lines. I say go EFI and enjoy the drivability!
The 4.7 is a very forgetful engine :)
Yea, I think phase 2 might be a hemi
looks great!
Thank you! Cheers!
looks badass. almost done now?
Been working on the wiring all week, so kinda??? It’s definitely coming along.
@@AllisonCustoms nice! almost there
@@AllisonCustoms i'm welding a rocker on my '74 scout ii this weekend. got the door frame all braced up and am about to hit it with the air chisel. knock out these old spot welds.

@@AllisonCustoms it all went smooth! i used the custom scouts rocker. it fit great.
can you take the papr related bags etc off if you don't need it for a while, tig mild steel or something
You can. I ended up,buying a second hood, minus the PAPR, but yes you can remove the PAPR cover.
@@AllisonCustoms Second Question if I bought a non papr helmet, can it be upgraded to a PAPR version after the fact or is there some unique parts to the PAPR version. Thanks for answering my questions btw, Im narrowing it down to the 3M G5-03 or the Optrel
I would think it could be upgraded, but I’m honestly not sure. I haven’t seen the parts available separately, other than replacement fabric hoods, and that Velcros in. The piece you would need to look for is the hose attachment point.
NIOSH will not allow standard welding helmets to be upgraded to PAPR hoods. Technically speaking it could easily be done.
@@grantcooper532Interesting I'm in Ireland so I don't have to worry about NIOSH, I haven't come across anything similar over here so far. As far as I can tell there isn't anything actually different between the two once the papr parts are added. I can understand the rule applying to a standard helmet with no ability or factory parts to make it into a papr.
The embossed emblems are amazing!
Thanks Bro!
What spring Rate for the rear coilovers
I appreciate the question, but I don’t have that info. I did the 4 link, but the owner is ordering his own shocks. As of now, I believe the project has stalled and no other work has been completed.
I just recently installed a cv boot on a Polaris ATV and of course, Polaris had to be dumb enough to use their own style of clamp, I managed to get it installed using a pair of channel locks. But I sure love to see the proper tool . Any help would be great. I don't see the style of clamp that I used in your video.
I’m not familiar with the type of clamps you are describing, but I will take a look around and see what I can come up with. Thanks for the idea!
Looks amazing!!! You have inspired me to get excited about mine again!! Thank you so much for all your efforts documenting the project. I know it takes tons of additional time.
It does take time and effort, but I’m very happy with where mine is headed!
I'm happy to see the Scott moving forward, nice paint job, ye ha :)
You and me both!
Great stuff! Thanks for sharing this project with us!

I have a c10 1977 short bed what chassis could I use I was told a Tahoe or blazer
I think you would be better off starting with a Tahoe chassis. If you look in the background, I have a 2006 Trail Blazer SS back there, and I originally looked at using it. The TB is a little short and narrow for what I wanted for my truck, but others might like the packaging a little better.
@@AllisonCustoms thank you for the information
You bet! Good luck!
Good trial and science would be nice for backyard artwork or a table. :)

The company that makes the foam engines is called P-ayr i believe the ls is model 2046
Thanks, I added a link in the description. I appreciate the backup!
How much lighter than an aluminium block ?
I wish I knew. If any? I’ve got two aluminum block LS engines, but they are both ready to run.
I heard that Lyle version is made in USA and manufacturers the exact same tool for a very expensive "box truck" tool brand.
I can believe that, they are well made and Lyle does that on at least a few other tools.
