How much weight can you remove from an LS and still be useable?

- A study in weight reduction on an LS block. How much weight can you remove and still have a useful engine block? I guess that depends on the intended use.
I’m cutting as much cast iron out of my 4.8 / 5.3L block as possible, what will the weight savings be?

I wish I knew. If any? I’ve got two aluminum block LS engines, but they are both ready to run.
