  • Today I talk about contrast in your photography. It is one of those things that is really important to get a good photograph, but it is seldom spoken about, so I go over contrast and how you can spot it in your photography to help you get much better photographs.
    I suppose you could called this a landscape photography vlog ... but I prefer on location landscape photography!

    I don't think I've heard the contrast/saturation slider tip before, very useful. Cheers!

    Another great, well produced video. I like the suggestion of shooting in black and white to better understand contrast in the scene.

    Hi Mike, I love your videos…I’ve noticed you often use an aerial shot during them. Have you considered making a video or two on drone photography?

    Fantastic video as always Mike! The amount of different backgrounds and places you go to, while keeping the subject flowing so seamlessly is epic! Also, whatever lens you are using, it makes the background so separate and colorful, makes the scene quite surreal.
    Love the suggestions, as Contrast is always one of my personal favorite things to consider when photographing. The greatest influence I took to my personal style is from Caravaggio with his strong contrast scenes.

    Great video, Mike! Changing into black and white is great advise. I have heard you squint your eyes to where you just barely see anything. This shows you contrast but also basic colors going into color theory. Stay safe out there.

    I can't wait for the Exposure episode.
    I'm having one of those Brain F@rt moments trying to judge exposure for my video projects. I know this is a photography course, but I do find little snippets to cross over to video.

  • @Frag-ile
    @Frag-ile Před 11 měsíci

    I often enjoy taking quite high contrast pictures. But I tend to find my camera complaining that I'm underexposing my pictures and were I to let it it'd raise iso a good few steps to compensate, but I don't like the pictures I get when I allow the camera to decide. I try to let the histogram guide me more than I do the light meter at the end of the day and I'm not sure what it is the camera is trying to tell me when the histogram looks good but the light meter says -2.
