- Manchester United have a monumental summer window coming up. There's so many considerations, and this squad is one that can't compete on all fronts. United have some big decisions to make, especially in the transfer window. With that said, let's look at 5 players I'd keep, 5 I'd sell, and 3 I'd bring in.

Bruno, Dalot, Martinez, Hojlund, Maino, Garnacho, and Onana are a must keep. I think if we had 2 good defenders to join Dalot and Martinez we would have a good base to start with

Dalot should be in must keep. Very underrated. Very consistent & stays fit.

I agree.Keep Dalot, he's been very good this season and has had to play in an ever changing back four because of injuries to Varane ,Martinez,Maguire ,Malacia, and Shaw.

I think Dalot is a must keep for us, not many rbs in world football that improve on him significantly and one less position to worry about for next season
He's 24 and getting better every season. So for me, he definitely stays. We have a lot of positions to strengthen, right back isn't one of them

People will stick their nose up but would love for United to bring Welbz back, he is a free agent this summer. Would be a great mentor for Hojlund and he understands United better than anyone. Still got a goal in him aswell.

"Availability is the best ability" . Yet Martinez is hardly ever available and no one seems to highlight this as a problem. What's the point of having him if he's not able to play. He's probably played 7 months of actual football in almost two years of being here. He's not a "must keep". He is a "must stay fit or get sold" imo.
I think there is a difference between muscle injuries like martial always seem to have, and literal broken bones like the injury Martínez had last year. And this year it was a guy falling on his knee. I do not think he is injury prone, you just have to look at the context in which his injuries have occurred.
3 for me, Todibo, Manu Kone, Olise. Strengthens 3 areas we need. One wild card Kayode from Fiorentina think AWB but with an end result.

I still think we missed a major opportunity not getting Guirassy for 15 million release clause. For that price it was worth the risk. Plus he’s older, so he wouldn’t stunt Hoijlund’s development.

Re Neves. Ste used the term control tempo. Which is very interesting. The like the heart beat of the team. Scholes was that and how they described him. I think if we get a quality player like that, eth ethos and vision maybe shown
My problem with bruno is that while he creates a high volume of chances, he's not useful outside the final 3rd other than pressing. He doesn't have a long diagonal switch, or long pass in general. He doesn't combine in the middle 3rd or seek the ball. He's trying to play as a second striker, instead of being the main orchestrator most times. Keep him, yes, but I think after the window closes, he needs to be dropped for a few games and made to play like he does for Portugal.

You are not ruthless enough, ste. I would only keep onana, martinez, dalot, malacia, mainoo, mount, eriksen, bruno, hojlund, garnacho, greenwood, amad, pellistri. Kamwala under tutelage of evans to learn. I will just sell the rest. We would need 1 rb, 1 lb, 3 cb(at least 2), 2 enforcers (cdm), 1 st. That's it and we will be sorted.
Agree with the keeps and sells (McT the hardest one). Garna, Rashy, Dalot and Shaw also keeps. Need another CD and a proper no9 too.

United have got 2 left-backs !!! Shaw and Malacia. Plus Harry Amass in the under 18's. United need a new midfield before anything. The only midfielders worth keeping are Mainoo and Mount.

for me the CM we nned to get in is the other Lisbon team, from Sporting, Hjulmand... Danish, big, strong, defensively sound but can progress the ball... only 24, 25 in June... agree on the Gutierrez. Olise, i'm a little hesitant... he struggles with consistency... for a RW i would go Nicolas Gonzalez from Fiorentina... also your must keeps i agree with... must sells there is just too many to list... we'll see if Sir Jim and Dave watch this...

@@Stubz_g I'm not sold on Olise (who has also had his injury issues in his short career thus far). Neto for me has proven his class and carries the ball so well. He'll be cheaper and has had more than 1 good season. IMO we need to see more of Olise to get a view of what his ceiling could be.
For me Garnacho is a must keep. Him and Mainoo are the future of the club and I really think Garnacho has a much higher ceiling than Mainoo. He's been our best attacker this season and works his socks off
What about Nico Williams for the wing position? And Zubimendi for the CDM position? Both quality champions league level players and, perhaps more importantly, neither have extortionate release clauses. Could get both for less than João Neves and still raid Benfica for António Silva
The #1 position on the "MUST BUY" list should be "a striker". I don't even need to hear a name. Just "a striker". By all rights, United have a second player for every single position, regardless of quality, except for striker. There needs to be a second striker.
outside of the list you have mentioned which i fully agree with, i think dalot is a must keep aswell he has been very consistent in a bad united team, he is consistently improving. and he looks like a very good modern fullback. which you need in a good team

I can agree with the Casimero reasoning but for me, he needs to stay. Even when hes been poor on the ball he always does the things that go unnoticed and nicks the ball here and there preventing attacks from building. I honestly think the system is the problem and he's too isolated with no one to pass to most of the time. He's also still scoring very important goals. For me you have to keep him and he will improve massively hen Martinez is back providing a constant viable passing option

I’m hoping that Amass Gore Lacey Wheatley all come thought as they can also become players that impact the team and become important players are academy is stacked and the best in the land this is the reason we will get back on top again in the next few season

McTominay 33 apps 8 goals. Casemiro 21 apps 5 goals. Rashford 34 apps 7 goals including penalties. Fernandes 37 apps 8 goals including penalties.
When shit midfielders you want to get rid of score at a better rate than attacking players you want to keep.
100% agree Martinez as a captain but I think it should be next season, just my opinion but I feel Fernandes output was a lot better before he became captain.
Been very unlucky with injuries defensively this season but I would prioritise a cb over lb. Without Varane or Martinez it really changes the style of play and how high a line we play. I’d get a pacey cb in first.
United's midfield is terrible. The only midfielders worth keeping are Mainoo and Mount. Bruno is not a midfielder in my opinion ETH needs to stop playing him there he leaves the other 2 exposed every game. United do need a CB but that midfield is where United are weakest.
@@chriswood753 the issues start higher up the pitch for me. With a forward line unable to keep possession, score enough goals, or win the ball back.
This puts way more pressure on the midfield than it should be exposed to. Casemiro should be sweeping up behind a midfield instead he is the midfield alongside Mainoo.
You can't just blame the midfield when the forwards are not doing their jobs either.
I wouldn't blame Hojland as he is not getting any service but the ball is getting to Anthony, Garnacho, Rashford, and Bruno all have been so poor they are being outscored by more defensive players so who isn't performing? Utd should ideally have a +30 goal difference at this stage of the season.
The midfield is chipping in with goals so questions have to be asked. I would ask where Utd would be with a goal difference of +10 or +20? top 4 possibly.
So even if the midfield isn't performing as it should those missing goals are costing Utd more points.
Well laid out mate. The process of remaking this team of ours into a squad that can seriously challenge for trophies is going to require more than a little brutality in the decision making. Feelings must be set aside and best business practices must reign. With that in mind the puzzle is still a rather daunting task especially with an undefined methodology of play.

Great content steph, your keep and sell list is good but not having a centerback on the buy list when its obvious united need at least two this summer surprised me. Olise is a BAD idea his to similar to sancho style of play {unless united are going to be a possession style team next season} and his injures is a problem i recommend nico Williams.

I actually dont think Mainoo has eniugh speed to play as an 8. Struggles to get back etc. he is really good under pressure, has a really good short passing game but his best quality is his sense for sniffing out danger.
I absolutely love Martinez, but these injuries 😫 when he is fit he's imperious

In terms of who comes or goes, it all depends on how the new structure wants us to play. If they want counter attacking football, Rashford makes sense to keep. If they wanna play a high press, high energy football (ala Liverpool, Arsenal), then he has to go. He’s too expensive to keep if he doesn’t fit the style of play. No room for sentimentality…
Stephen, i think we owe more respect to Dalot. He is absolutely must retain
Alan Varela (Porto) is the PERFECT man to play alongside Kobbie Mainoo for years to come

I'd like to see us go for Ben Sheaf, Joshua Kimmich, Antonee Robinson, and Michael Olise. I think Sheaf and Robinson would come in as good squad players, Kimmich if he is available is one of the best DMs, CMs, or FB in the world and Olise is the perfect representation of players United should be going for. Get players who have been consistently good for more than a year, its why Declan Rice was a good signing bc it was clear he was a good player, we need a few close to 0 risk signings. You can buy young players who have proven themselves it doesn't always have to be a kid who's come in and been good for a year, sometimes those risks pay off but often they don't.
Going into next season, must keeps for me are Onana, Dalot, Martinez, Mainoo, Bruno, Hojlund, and Garnacho.
In terms of outs, besides Sancho and Greenwood who should be gone regardless, anyone who we can get a deal for. We’ve done such a poor job of building this squad that most of these are undesirable or just aren’t worth anything. Lindelof or Maguire, for example, I’m not really bothered who goes, just so long as we can move them on
MaGuire & Sancho are musts. Casemiro Lindelof and Scott McTominay are the next most likeliest to get money for😢 I can’t see them swallowing Antony, but he hasn’t worked. I also see a lot of the younger players going.
Should we fail to find a buyer for McTominay I'd like him to become our goalgetter super sub.
I can see him coming on late and scoring us some goals as a box crashing number 10. Either shifting Bruno to rightwing for his crossing or if we get a winger that can deliver a good cross Bruno could get some minutes off.
It's not ideal, but it's not a bad plan B when we're in need of a goal and plan A isn't working out.

Onana Martinez Dalot need another physical big CB and a LB. A number 8 to play with mainoo and Bruno and then garnacho, Hojlund and hopefully Rashford decides to turn up. 3/4 proper signings away from a very strong 11.
If we can get 100m+, and lose the wages of Maguire, Antony, Sancho and Greenwood, that'd be a win for us. Casemiro and Varane should be yet another lesson for future transfers, see Zlatan, Schweinsteiger, Cavani, Ronaldo etc etc.

I would keep Mctominey, he works hard and can score a goal. I would have him as a squad player.
McTominay is a perfect squad player, if we sell him we need to have a replacement ready in the youth ranks or invest that money. Should we really be using time and money in the transfer market to strengthen our squad options? Especially if we’re getting rid of Eriksen and Casemiro. That’s three midfielders gone, four if you count Mount, that’s a lot of work in an area that honestly doesn’t feel like it is that far from clicking.

I do not care if 50 mil comes in for mctominay you do not sell him, he has been one of the players of the season, he gives his all every time he plays, he has carried the team out of the shits countless times and he knows and represents everything that a Manchester United player is.

Based on information from united recent accounts ,United need to sell 80m worth of player before the 30th June, and as the euros are are I cant see any player signing for united until the end of July.

Why on earth would Shaw be on a must keep list. He’s never fit and earns ridiculous wages. I’d sell him without a second thought.

@@danielberry4765 Yeah. Injuries have fucked us there. Malacia is a ghost. Shaw has trouble with consistent run of games. Fernandez on loan. Brandon Williams nowhere near good enough. I guess I'm just hoping that those injury worries settle down knowing the quality of Shaw and Malacia being a serviceable backup but I feel you. For me though, Striker, CM, RW and CB are much more important.

We need 2 class midfielders . Our midfield has been outclassed all season. Far too slow. We need another CB and another CF. I agree with the players to get rid off plus Eriksson.
What my understanding is that our backline needs a complete overhaul. 2 new CB's (preferably both but atleast one who can play CB/RB or CB/LB) , a LB, a RB (if AWB leaves) and the most crucial position, the no.6. If we manage to recruit players in these positions having the required technical skillset and physical attributes, then we are all set to play the front-foot football we all want. If we do manage this overhaul, I completely trust ETH to play the aggressive possession style we want because the passive style this season isn't due to choice but due to the injuries in our backline (key players out for long; we have played 24-25 diff backlines!!).
Naturally, as Martial is leaving, we need to get a decent back-up ST in. I am not that keen on selling Rashford, Antony and Bruno as most fans suggest. They aren't consistent, yes, but the passive approach ETH has to stick with isn't because of them, it's due to the poor profiles in the backline (compare it to City/Arsenal). Ofc, a no brainer to buy 1-2 wide players if Greenwood and Sancho both are sold.
Priority wise : 1. World class right CB, CDM (no.6), back-up ST, 2nd CB (can play fullback), LB. Also, if players are sold, like Eriksen or McT, use that money to replace in those positions. Just get the deadwood out, it really doesn't matter if the new players aren't world class because our squad can only improve from here.
United already have 2 left-backs Malacia and Shaw who can also play centre back, plus Harry Amass in the U18's is a left-back. Willy Kambwala looks like he may get some game time next season at centre -back. United need a new midfield!!!! It's blatantly obvious the midfield isn't good enough. It gets walked through every week, Mainoo is the only midfielder worth keeping. The rest aren't good enough. Casemiro and Eriksen need selling asap. McTominay is decent back up. Mason Mount has not been fit but will probably be good. And Bruno is not a midfielder, he reminds me of Zola, would you have Zola in your midfield? Both liabilities defensively, Bruno is what 29 year-old I would sell him while he is sellable. United need a striker as well to support Hojlund.
I agree with selling Case but if Neves is the signing then keeping Case for one more year is necessary
Fantastic video as always. But I do have one disagreement I’d like to raise here.
I keep seeing criticism of Casemiro. On the surface, I can understand it. But I would argue that playing as a CDM in this United system is a nightmare assignment this season. We’ve seen the team struggle to control the gaps between attack, midfield and defence. We’ve seen a constant rotation of defenders behind Casemiro. I believe he’s being asked to do too much and cover far too much space on the pitch. If we had a better structure and consistent play from our CBs, he could just sit in front of the defence and worry less about the wide players. He’d conserve more mental and physical energy and perform at the levels we’re used to seeing from him.
For years we struggled without a proper CDM, and I would hate to see us sell Casemiro and go back to those days.
