    I still stand on the fact that we should've picked up sabitzer last season let's not make the same mistake with amrabat

    • @SimonWakefieldUK
      @SimonWakefieldUK Před 15 dny +2

      We should not pick up Amrabat. This wasn't a player pulling up trees in Italy, the Florentina fans were negative about him even before a move was on the table and people remember snapshots of him during the world cup but those make him look better than he was across every minute of the tournament. Even these last two united appearances haven't been amazing. Florentina don't even want him back, they will sell him, rumours are he's likely off to a Saudi club. We need a better, more dynamic version of him rather than him

      I agree totally. It’s not they they will be starters. They are just genuinely good squad players. I love it about amrabat and liked it about Sabitzer too. They don’t complicate things which is something we desperately need

      I think regardless of what anyone thinks we need to keep Amrabat. Casemiro is leaving and we have a defensive minded midfielder willingly to be in rotation. We need to buy another arguably 2 midfielders on top of that.

      @@Agustin-nz6uz So you ant to spend £25mill to activate the buy clause on a rotational player who has looked crap for most of the season and even these last two games has only been OK. Its not his fault that we paid way too much for him. Dude has consistently supported the manager and gave his all for several games now while out of position. Should have kept them both and bought a younger player with potential to bring in slowly. Would have saved loads of money, and Lindelof and Maguire would be a thing of the past. I think a lot of managers (or the owners) wanted to get rid of the last of Sir Alex’s boys; winners in the squad didn’t square with the galactico vision of Woodward.

    • @SimonWakefieldUK
      @SimonWakefieldUK Před 15 dny

      Smalling was consistently under rated but I actually don't agree we should have kept him and not got Maguire, I actually think the two of them would have been a good partnership. Smalling is a bit like the defender version of Carrick. One of the things people would beat Carrick with was he wasn't making crunching tackles and the likes but the reality was he didn't have to, he read the game well and hence would find himself in the right position to win the ball without a crunching tackle or last ditch tackle. And Smalling was like that, he read the game well and that allowed him to deal with things without needing to dive into eye catching but risky tackles, unlike someone like Bailly whose eye catching tackles were enjoyed by the fans but were risky, did give away freekicks and were often self caused.lindeloff and bailly who both had issues positionally in the English game to an extent they would take themselves out of the game all the time. Both looked better next to Smalling who bailed them out. Now Maguire is better than both but his weakness is his pace, if he had Smalling next to him who reads the game and has pace it would comment him perfectly

    1) Amad’s technical ability and IQ really stands out in this team. I also love his work rate, it combines his skill with graft. I cannot understand how he hasn’t played more, he seems like a combination of Sancho’s style and Antony’s work rate (£170m worth of players btw)
    2) Bruno is in a team that hasn’t performed and half a dozen players per game have stunk the place out and really let Bruno down. He’s a creative monster but similar to Hojlund, if you cannot create positions as a team for them to put the finishing touches on, you’re taking away his best attribute. Added to that the availability and work rate. He is our best player and one of the best in the world, but we have let him down this season.
    3) Amrabat instead of Casemiro this season would have made a massive difference. He looked poor playing out of position, but he could have really cooked if he was able to gain some momentum in the DM position.

    Ste, IMO, the reason why Ten Hag doesn't know his future or that he might be fired is because INEOS are not stupid, there is a cup final to play, they will allow that to happen, and most likely make a decision afterwards (as some journalist are saying). Sancho had 2 full seasons and proved to be another Rashford character (read as unmotivated and overpaid). The loan move did good for all included. Sancho got play time, man United saved a bit of money and potentially raised his value and Antony had time to settle in and find his rhythm. Diallo and Pellistri were unlucky, they're clearly Solskjaers signings. Can u think of a player that man United scouting department scouted, that wasn't literally a known superstar? Diallo and Pellistri x Sancho and Antony, two different approaches to scout players. The difference is, solskjaer spent 22 millions?, they started less than 10 games each since 2019 and one of them could have worked if given time, Sancho and Antony got all the time in thw world and their value is currently comparable with that of Diallo and Pellistri lmao. To me there's 2 approaches, one absolutely blindingly stupid and one modest one, that had a potential to succeed. i just wanted to correct u a little and vent so badly😆. The decision making within the club makes me think i could have done a better job for a few biscuits, nevermind the salaries that would save Africa from hunger

    The Antony purchase never made sense to me, we had Sancho plus Amad and Pellistri, why did anyone think we needed another RW? In a similar vein, why would we sign Sesko? There would be direct competition between him and Hojlund, it could be argued that that is exactly what we need or Zirkzee. Amrabat has to stay I think, wasn't the option to buy clause about 15M? At that price he would be a steal, even if only as a squad player. Finally performances out of him and no coincidence that he is finally playing in his correct position.

    No3 for expected assists says it all about the strikers. Pass completing 79.3%. Btw just behind the so-called best AM in the world. KDB. on 82.7%. Yep Bruno has had a poor season 🤣🤣

    Cheers Ste, agree with about everything.
    I honestly think that I'd keep hold of Evans (if only to be emergency replacement and to mentor the younger defensive talent). With that in mind, as good as he is, Mainoo is not the complete player yet and needs an experienced head to show him the subtle arts. The same goes, but to a much higher extent, with Garna and Højlund who have raw talent that needs a lot more development (heads up boys).
    I think where EtH faltered (but as thus far not completely failed) was thinking that a team of former ex-Ajax coaches could run the whole vast operation at Machester United. I feel Erik needs to chill on the arrogance (or fear of not being credited for being completely in control) and use the Ineos connections to surround himself with the best coaches and player and youth mentors around. If some of them could be ex-United legends then all the better. Rene would fit very well for instance.
    Lost track of where this was going? Oh yeah, we're gonna win the Cup!

  • @chibbyranjo
    @chibbyranjo Před 14 dny

    EtH started McTominay as a 9 tonight. Far from a first choice, going into the future, Scott may be a third choice as an option to put up top of Höjlund isn’t firing. Rashford should also be considered more regularly down the middle, again if Höjlund isn’t performing for whatever reason. There is always the risk that buying another centre forward may introduce unfulfillable expectations for whoever that may be. Bringing in an Ivan Toney, he’d want to play every week. Then you look at Joselu and the job he has done for Real Madrid. The kind of backup profile that we need often comes from unexpected places, including from McTominay. I’ve been critical all season of his defensive and buildup play. He’s simply not cut out to play alongside Mainoo. But he’s started a lot of games this season and somehow done a job for us, mainly through his goals. Doubling down on his eye for goal and not expecting him to spot danger and break lines may be a longer term use for him, as an option late in games when chasing a goal. Put him on to win headers and pop up with late runs. It potentially reduces the need to bring in another (inevitably expensive) forward and allows us to concentrate our resources in other areas. I personally think we need a CB, a more defensively-minded partner for Mainoo and potentially a LB. Moving on Casemiro should be necessary business, to get some of his fee back and most definitely free up his wages. Maybe I’m wrong, perhaps a season being fit and playing in his actual position may be worth something to us, and I can’t fault his commitment in playing out of position in tough games, but it’s quite clear he’s on the downward trajectory that Real predicted he was starting on.

    Considering the issues the club is having in securing key executives and the time of said arrivals, it would be madness to change Ten Hag this summer. I’m far from happy with how results have gone in recent weeks, but it would be a bad idea when we haven’t got the decision makers in place early enough to make a good fist of anything different.
    I agree that Amrabat has had a couple of decent performances and now looks like what we needed. Is the evidence of a relative few games enough to make him a permanent addition in the summer? Who knows. I think we’d need to sell on Casemiro for decent return to be able to afford to buy a serious upgrade (like a João Neves), but as has been shown this year, there needs to be depth otherwise it can easily derail the entire season. £22m to make Amrabat permanent? It may be good business.
    It’s easy to forget Mason Mount in all this. I think Mainoo’s emergence has completely ruined Mount’s chances at United. Has the #7 shirt struck again? Maybe. There’s no space for him. It would be a mistake to lose Bruno, an almost ever-present, which is one place for him. The aforementioned Mainoo occupies the only other spot. Mount isn’t defensive enough to play beside him. Necessity has brought on Kobbie and you’d be hard pressed to leave him out now. Mount can’t be an expensive backup. He may need to move on to help finance Mainoo’s long-term partner. Can it be done? The new leadership have got to start getting these kinds of deals done.

I think that all signs point to INEOS wanting a manager to basically mainly be the first team coach with everything above mainly being the domain of the board, and i was wondering if that changes the type of manager the club might want, it might even be the thing INEOS like about keeping ETH potentially. In the vain of what SJR said about finding the new Mbappe maybe they might be looking at the current crop of talented new managers and see them as the the type of first team coach they want at the club. I could see the appeal of guys like De Zerbi, Motta, Amorim etc who are highly regarded but lack 'prestige', maybe they want someone who can make a team play good football and do man management rather than the I guess more traditional manager responsibilities.

I also believe the academy has a player better than wanbisaka. It is hard to sign 5-7 players in one window. Therefore, a good manager should make the best out of the players he got. The problem is not the player but the manager. How will players respect a manager who waits until the end of season to finally use players at his disposal to play a decent football. The negativity around Bruno probably has something to do with his captain role. If a team has capable attackers but they score very few goals, it surely has something to do with the way the midfield sets up the attacks. He is somewhat responsible for the low goal score and that most of the goals comes from midfielders and not the front 3. If Bruno is so good as a number 10, why is Hojlund the striker who gets the fewest passes in the entire league? Bruno might be able to get personal success that way but I doubt the team can win many games without involving the front 3 more.
