- Here is the training that we put on for our Classical Conversations parents to educate them on how to use the Lost Tools of Writing cirriculum.
The topics we cover are:
1. How the book is organized
2. How to find the online videos that come with the book
3. How to create and sort an ANI chart
4. Essays 1-6: Invention, Arrangement, and Elocution
The CZcams video is a teacher's presentation about a writing curriculum called "Laws of Writing" for students. The curriculum aims to teach students how to write persuasive essays and provides a structured approach for students to gather information, organize it, and express it effectively. The teacher walks through the various components of the curriculum, including the five paths to quality writing, the three canons of rhetoric (invention, arrangement, and elocution), the process of building each essay, the steps of editing, assessment, and providing examples. The video covers the process of writing essay one, the importance of understanding the five common topics of invention, and preparing for essay two. The teacher also provides information about how to utilize the curriculum and support students through the writing process.

I just wanted to say thank you. I've been a CC mom for almost 10 years. ChA and ChB were very hard on us. My oldest is now in Ch1. Your LTW videos have been one of the most useful resources I've found. The ways you went through each essay, and the when/what to do, have been invaluable to me. No one has ever done this for us. It's the big picture, but practical. Thank you.

I'm glad you shared this. I watched it to help me prepare for teaching my first LTW workshop and I gleaned several great tips. The use of the two white boards is a very smart way to go! And teaching in tandem is a terrific solution to the lag that can happen when writing everything on the board. Thank you!
Just a quick note: antithesis is definitely pronounced an-tith-uh-sis, not anti-thesis. Saying "the anti-thesis is..." throws things off; it is not a type of statement like a thesis, it is a literary device like parallelism. Pronouncing it correctly eliminates confusion. It is usually used with conjunctions or punctuation that set the ideas in opposition to each other (but, or, however, etc.), rather than 'and,' because the idea is to emphasize the contrast.
