    I'm about to replace mine. I was mainly looking for a trick to get the backs so thank you. The only thing I would add is a small can of compressed air like for computers and blowing the dirt out of the spark plugs cases before removing them.

    For a friend of mine. She has a 2007 w/ a 3.5-liter engine and 312,000 miles. Pulled a spark plug and it was gone, a huge gap~38"+ burned away tip and 'L' shaped wire. Way overdue. Runs like crap. Can't exceed 45 mph. [basically, the car is junk] but she's pregnant and has no money. Watching this to do this for her. At $9.97/plug I don't want to screw this up. Thanx. Merry Christmas.

    Great infe. Good advice on using OEM spark plugs. Plus using never seize and boot grease. I've watched a bunch of video's and no one else. mentioned it. Keep up the correct way in showing people that don't know how the right way. Job well done

    I have a 2011 impala and when I did my tune up I didn't even take those bolts off the mounts the only thing I did was take the coil pack off and got easy access to the back spark plugs but I guess every body has different ways of doing it 😅

    This video is 2 years old and don't know if you will see this question.. So I am about to do this on my 06 Impala. The front plugs are easy to get to even if the wire rips off. But the wires don't want to come off easy and took some work. How do you deal with wires that will not come off easy? If they were to break off it would be a nightmare of work at cylinders 1 3 5

    Just changed mine and its running kinda funky. Thinking I might of mixed the boot plugs up 😕 should of marked them like he did in the video 🤫 or maybe I ratchet strapped the motor to far up and broke something on the exhaust..

      Im sorry this is old and not useful anymore but when you mark the spark plug wires mark also which terminal connection they came from. This keeps them from getting mixed up

    If you lube the threads you must reduce installation torque. You do not want to stress the plug metal shell.

    • @Michaelsbackyardmarina
      @Michaelsbackyardmarina  Před 3 lety +1

      Well if you live in the midwest or cold climate you will see your milage drop 2-3 miles per gallon. The factory plugs are good for 100K miles.

    Doing my spark plugs tomorrow on my 2010 with 120k. Why didn't you replace the wires too? I am assuming they were original. I am doing both, since the effort is the same for those rear plugs AND wires.

      Do you hear the screeching noise of the chirper springs? Are your brakes not stopping as good as they once did? That's not many miles unless you do a bunch of city driving. You will have to investigate and discover the need for replacement for yourself. Too many factors to consider from afar. Pull a wheel and inspect your pads.

    Uhh... why are you ratchet strapping and rocking your engine... I've never have or ever had to do that the change the plugs... just lay on the manifold, take off the coil packs and reach back there. Plenty of room, Unbolting the front brackets just adds more work to your list... easy peasy.

  • @craigweis1675
    @craigweis1675 Před 2 lety +1

    When the engine is ratcheted forward ... what about the exhaust? Is it going to be dislodged? I see a 'bellows-type flex joint coming off the exhaust manifold so I guess that provides enough wiggle room. The second question is why the water pump plyers?
    The gap in my first post I said gap 38" I meant it's way out there 3/8+ inches ... and burned away. I saw some non-iridium plugs for less money at $3.00 each and they were listed as nickel and for a 3.5 engine.
    This car not going to last another 50k miles. So might work. She is still pregnant and on reduced hours at work. Has even less money now. I'm helping a little bit with her rent ... I have been reduced to begging local parts houses for a donation of ONE spark plug. If I get between 1 to 6 then I'm in hog heaven. Most houses say they won't break a pac of 4 or 6. But I keep trying.
    What came out of my 4.7 Jeep was the original copper plugs at 136,000 miles and I R&R'ed those at $3.07 each from O'Reilly's. Pulled the part number directly from the Jeep sticker under the engine bonnet.
