The number 1 consumer usecase for NPUs should be for local voice processing and digital assistants. Currently all the digital assistants (ex:siri) send a recording of your voice to the cloud to be processed, which is not secure or reliable if your internet connection drops. With NUPs you can have a fully local digital assistant that still works without depending on an internet connection. Connection to the Internet should always be secondary to local functionality. There is no cloud, just someone elses computer, which is why we need the default to be whats called hybrid cloud, where local functionality syncs to the cloud but can still operate without it wherever possible
hope new digital assistants will be smarter than siri, g.assistant and whatever stupid thing they have released before
I still use a 1st gen i7 ☠️
nice
lol, me too (intel core i7 860) btw
I'm still using a 1st gen i5! but in addition to this 2 days ago I but G6 KF which utilizes 13th gen i7 and 4060 GPU
i still use a chromebook
Still?
Wasn't this first in mgs2 arsenal gear, I remember ocelot saying "the nureal network is going haywire"
I feel like it needs to be restated what Ai even means anymore. There is no inherent ‘intelligence’ but rather very clever data referencing.
I totally agree. On the internet, everyone who sees some kind of new technology labels it as "AI', Artificial Intelligence. They dont realise that AI is quite literally a technology that can think for itself, without human input, like a digital person with their own brain, separate from pre-programmed instructions. AI is incredibly rare and hard to make, not every fancy gizmo deserves the extremely high honour of being called "AI".
So... in other words, exactly what humans do. :p
@@rule7254 no, it cant have desire or independent thought. I highly recommend Neil Schustermans Scythe series as it explores our relationship with ai and what qualifies sentience. And its a great book 📖 ❤️
@@rule7254 No. They can emulate thought processes very similarly and even more efficiently than a humans, but they cannot be human by their very nature. They are limited by their programmed algorithms and computing ability. Additionally, they do not have abstract abilities like emotions, or an imagination like a human.
@@YourDadWithTheMilk304 They hallucinate, they are reactive to negative scenarios in specific ways, their thought processes pass Chinese Red Room and Turing tests with flying colors, and they can now start to expand their own limitations on the fly.
If we are defining "intelligence" as human-centric, then I do technically agree with you -- I just feel that definition is myopic (and becoming more inaccurate by the day).
Is it even using the NPU though? It could be falling back to CPU or GPU easily. Software has to be changed to actually use this at all, as it is I doubt much software has bothered. Also AI in video games is not really the same as other AIs, they most of the time are programmatic rather than AI which is not easily predictable really, as such CPU is best suited still. Maybe in games it will slowly become more relevant, but I'm not sure
That's where he misrepresentation when he says they all offload to the NPU freeing up the CPU and GPU is false it's the CPU still being use and its the CPU Control Unit like a traffic police in it telling that task to be offload to the NPU Core in the CPU.
@@wolfbrave4866 Interesting, wasn't aware of it on that low of a level, I wonder if APUs work in much the same way? Likely still benefits greatly
I doubt the CPU offloads a lot of computation to NPU. NPU is pretty specialized, so it's rather rare that the CPU could use it's capabilities. Also, offloading would increase latency, which could be a major issue.
Regardless, it's unlikely CPU offloads regular computation to NPU.
Love ur vids man keep up the great work!
I looooove your experiments i learn more from you than school lol thanks for that 💚
i7 4790k, gtx 970 sli still running like a champ after 8 years. no need to upgrade
Me too. But I also know it's not and I'm missing out so many
I mean... I'm sure it still works but you're gonna be at 1080p on mid to low settings at best. My 8700k and 1070 were getting old when I replaced them last September. The uplift was the biggest I've ever had from upgrading.
Try to emulate RPCS3 the Gran Turismo oh wait your CPU is too slow time to upgrade
@@aksGJOANUIFIFJiufjJU21 you are a litteral kid, grow up.

this is pretty interesting, excited to see what the future is for laptops.

They got the high alert perk on this laptop 😂
Thanks! I love using yeester paste i use it on my rack server and computers and your a great youtuber thank you for your great content and thermal paste keep it up👍
Test the pertier module for cooling pc CPU.
Hi im new to pc gaming and wanted to ask is a RTX 3060 compatible with a prime A320M-K motherboard
What's that security software he mentioned...2B? Is it possible to download on PC?
With that "person behind you detection" ... wait, Mommmm!😂
Is this trying to catch up to apple or does this do a better job than the M3 at neural processing?
What game used the NPU?
What about the TPU?
your thermal paste got review bombed yeester
Hey what about upscalling in games they also use ai, i wanted to see that
it will be cool to see games like Minecraft and BeamNG use it for the pathfinding and vehicle AI respectively
can you try and put multiple gpu risers together? like 3 or 5 of them
Linus Sebastian did a great video presentation on this topic.
@@anthonyshiels9273 Thanks!
Don't forgot the APU and PPU
ppu? power processing unit?
@@vexnity460 physics processing unit (before nvidia physx)
Literally NPU it's a copy of APU
you should drop test the apple vision pro.
But what will we connect to npus
Neural processing unit
The NPU isn't (yet) mentioned in documentation for whisper.cpp or llama.cpp directly. But it's probably being accessed when built using OpenCL, Vulcan, openBLAS, or the Intel oneMKL and drivers. Curious to see.
Is it good for gaming?
What about FSR 3 and other frame generating technology? does is boost them?
No, it would have to be coded to do that and for now I don't think it is. Also, FSR3 is not AI, unlike XeSS or DLSS
XeSS is probably boosted, as it's Intel's tech, but FSR was made in a way, that you don't need a NPU to use it.
which gpu will be a good pair with a ryzen 7 7700x3d and intel i7 - 14700k

any 3090 / 4080 or above.
I use a 3090 with the i7-14700K but the GPU bottlenecks quite a bit

Obviously
He misrepresented when he said they all offloaded to the NPU freeing up the CPU and GPU is false it's the CPU still being used. The CPU Arithmetic logic unit offloaded that task to its NPU Core.
Elaborate more
If the npu didnt exist, then would the alu offload it to the gpu?
& if both gpu & npu didnt exist, the alu would handle it?
so DPU is not coming out in 2024?????
Ive got this stupid question for a while why don't thay make a "different apu" so a big giant cpu+gpu and i suppose now npu so c-g-n-pu in one big piece silica?
Thay also added a cod perk to a pc that lit af😂 9:15
Oh wow that surprised me a bit because I didn't know that there are still 60Hz Laptops with 1080p screen are still getting manufacthred through this day and spefically in US they are getting manufactured
maybe they will have NPU cards for desktop in the future
It’s very likely, some intel chips already have ai stuff
Coral processors exist for some time already. You can buy them, slot them in and have certain specific tasks(like object recognition) executed in up to 100x time, depending on your hardware.
my brother in christ that is the back of an old Intel sticker on the thumbnail

well. already bought a 4060 ti, but was fired from my job, atleast i had time to look at the upcoming cpus and what can i say.. i might buy intel instead of amd
I really would like a laptop with a cpu, gpu & an npu
You had just seen one. Every computer nowadays has a GPU and a CPU. Software rendering has not been used like that for a long time.
Also he mentioned that the laptop has Arc graphics
@@redo1122 I meant a dedicated one as big as a cpu
@@smith3463 not hard to find probably. Though the NPU will probably be bundled with either the GPU or CPU. You can get a Coral accelerator though.
I can't trust any sponsored reviews... ever
npu nano proccessing unit is my guess before i watch this
you should make a pc and drop it 3-5 times and if it still works give it to me
Ok, but software has to be written to use the NPU probably. This is likely only a first step.
Looks like NPU is going to be important for the next generation of adult entertainment content, AI girlfriends, computer games, and the new Apple goggles. Graphics processing and Video processing take a large amount of CPU and GPU power, this is exciting to improve that.
Actual spy in the laptoo
Next their gonna use actual neurons in an NPU and you wouldn't even notice 😂💀
As a real-time embedded software development engineer who uses his laptop for documentation and basic C/C++ software design, development/documentation work, the NPU is NOT something that would likely be of any use to me. (Mind you, my usual price point is $2500-$2800 for laptops, so I tend to get powerhouses.
Maybe you could use it to run a local LLM to generate some code for you. But Copilot is a thing and it's better than anything you can run locally.
this is a great video which should reach more people. however the title and thumbnail could probably use some work. what better than to ask AI!
Bruh i still use pentenium processor 💀 the pc still looks new after using it for 18 years
what about apu's
Isn't this what Google uses in their Pixel 6's and newer?
Your wrong about the NPU being brand new, this is just a marketed version of a PPU, Nvidia PhysX used to be a separate chip on motherboards as GPUs at the time couldn't handle all the processing.
A NPU is nothing more then that.
plz sir plz plz cani get a 1080 Ti plz
NPU used to mean Network Processing Unit... Just like how APU used to mean Audio Processing Unit.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaa
I’m calling it, npu = new processing unit

what about watching vids at faster speeds
NPU means nuclear power unit
AI in everything
i would like to have no ai please

How do i replace my powersuppky for a better one for a netter gypu on an Hp Te01
Put mayonnaise instead of thermal paste
So the Prestige 16 AI Evo is one of the first, or the first, to have a NPU. Then I guess that Apple's Neural Engine, around since 2027, doesn't count as a NPU..
People say shorts are useless. With it, i found this awosome mf
Day 121 of asking you to use paint as thermal paste
This is a laptop you can spend money on so the things you spend money on can use less power, which you spend money on. All of this is going to be important, as you continue to progress longer into the black hole of spending more money on things that work automatically for you with AI.
Buy thing. So you can use what you bought better.
AI is just cleverly disguised machine learning.
I also dont see the use of this outside of game upscaling and mic noise reduction.
So basically it’s apples neural engine that they’ve have for almost a decade
It’s not processing unit
So what the hell is an apu?
NPU, Non Performing Unit?
This is a very 2020s laptop
I only have a cpu 🗿
i bet it needs wifi to use
