      Those things are as accurate as rifles double the price or more. Sub moa with the right ammo and shooter. Almost bought one. I may still buy an upper if I ever find one cheap. I dont like the flip ups or the blackhawk furniture though

    If I wanted to change the hand guard for the Savage MSR to a piccatinny rail system, what kind of rail system is it compatible with? I've noticed in other videos the plate that holds the handguards at the front is not your traditional round holding plates. Thanks

    Good review, I just picked up the Saint with the Free float handguard for $851 shipped. It is one of the best feeling rifles I have shot on this platform. Not to mention you get a real case vs a cardboard box. Nice added touch. I wish my military issue rifle was as nice as the SA Saint.

    Purchase 3 different AR15 in the last year. the ruger ar556 and the 2 shown here, the Savage and the Saint. Of the 3, the Saint had the worst trigger and in my opinion shot the worst groups. It was also the most expensive of the 3... So I sold it and now only have the ruger and the savage. Of those 2, the savages is clearly a better weapon, with a better trigger, better sites, better components and a bit more accurate in my hands. The ruger is it cheap backup AR, and works well, plus the cost was low, sub $500, so that's why I kept it.

  • @Megames2012

    Is this according to their website? Because I could've sworn the Savage MSR with a free float handguard has 5R whereas this one had your standard 6R, if that's what you call it.

    Hey, I don’t know if you you’re going to respond to this after 3 years lol. But I’m tryng to put a free float quad rail on my msr15 patrol model I got last year. But the A2 front sight seems to be fixed. There is a hole in the barrel where the gas back goes. Do you know the savage a2 post is fixed in there? Thanks!

    I bought the Savage MSR patrol 15 a couple weeks ago. I took it out on Saturday and there were several instances where it seemed like multiple rounds were being fired with one trigger squeeze. Could this be something I am doing or is this indicative of a malfunction?

    • @MarksmanTV
      @MarksmanTV  Před 7 lety +1

      It could be an accidental bump fire, but the circumstances would have to be somewhat coincidental... When you shoot it, keep it tucked firmly in your shoulder and give the trigger a good push and hold it to the rear, not allowing it to reset. If you are not getting a second round fired, then it is likely the firearm is fine. If you are holding the rifle too loosely off your shoulder and allowing your trigger finger to move off the trigger after the shot (this is difficult to explain) the rifle could be bouncing off your shoulder, sending the firearm slightly forward and bumping the trigger on your finger (this would all happen very quickly casuing a bump fire). If, while holding the trigger firmly to the rear after firing, the rifle still sends off several rounds per pull, send it back to the factory or take it to a gunsmith as there is a problem with your disconnector.

    • @necronorris
      @necronorris Před 7 lety

      Ok, I will try that. I really am hoping it is me and not the rifle because that seems like an easier fix. Thank you!

    Is the free floating barrel worth the extra money, for a guy on a budget?

    • @GeorgiaBoy1961
      @GeorgiaBoy1961 Před 6 lety +2

      Until you can outshoot the typical precision/accuracy of your chosen carbine, using high-quality ammunition, it probably doesn't pay, on a cost-benefit basis, to get a free-floated barrel. If you are on a budget, and want to shoot more-accurately, concentrate on trying out different types of ammunition and loads from various manufacturers and seeing what your carbine likes best. The quality of ammunition used has a large - very large, in fact - effect on your overall accuracy and results obtained. Obviously, you should also seek out the necessary high-quality instruction to become well-schooled in the fundamentals of accurate shooting. If you are young-enough, and are willing to consider military service, the Marine Corps does a fine job training their recruits to be riflemen.

      i have the ruger 556, saint free float, and saint victor. the saints are made with quality in mind. with that being said the ruger is an excellent rife as well. the ruger is less expensive, cold hammer forged barrel, crappy trigger but you get the ruger lifetime warenty. Ruger has a carbine length gas system where as the saint has mid length system. both ruger and saint variants are excellent shooters and either one can be modified over time. buy one or both you won't be disappointed.

I added a 15" ffr and dual charging handle from bcm. Overall for the price it is an unbelievable deal. But the savage recon I would really like to get. Looks very nice. Even though it has a 4140 barrel. But not that big a deal.

Compare the Savage MSR Recon to the Springfield Saint that would be a fair review and the Savage MSR Recon will shoot rings around the Springfield . If you compare the Saint to the Recon for the same money you get way more gun with the recon .
