    Eventide Space is a must have pedal. You can run the most boring turd of a sound through it and it will come out sounding like pure gold.

    The Eventide Eclipse has loads of these algorithms a plus more... along with the Sub 37... sound simply amazing together. As Alex says here the Eventide stuff can act like sound sources themselves so you need very little else - adding extra often muddies a mix. I uploaded a video of the Sub 37 with the eclipse - as I was amazed by the results.

    Seriously, the Eventide Space is by far the essential fx pedal here, it just blows up the already fat tone of the Minimoog to the extreme. "Shimmer" just sounds out of this world and also the almost infinite reverb makes this combo so huge, it's goosebumps-city! The delay, which is also a no-brainer for a Minimoog, is probably delivered nicer elsewhere but that's for sure a matter of taste (to a totally different degree than the Space; the latter is a very though competitor to the Styrmon Big Sky IMHO).

  • @ManCalledMif

    well having owned just the space pedal for about a year or so, I have to say it was one of my best purchases. hard to not use it in everything, or go full ambient mode forever. it's just so freaking amazing. and it has some delay in there, some chorus, and I've only played and tweaked a few of the 100 presets that come with it. haven't started building my own programs in it yet. yes it's the price of a synth but it counts as one - maybe even more. time to work on my own moog+eventide video haha!

    Eventide or any other good fx company should make some kind of special fx station with loads of inputs and outputs and many fx to choose from to add to any inputs. It would be really nice to have something special which would be meant for a performing artist with lots of synths/drum machines etc live.

    I would LOVE to see a Venn diagram of Eventides stuff in terms of capabilities. It seems that a lot of their fx boxes (it's not a "pedal" if it's on a desk :) ) have very similar capabilities, which is of course understandable given they are "just" DSP algos. Obviously H9max does it ALL, but if you want multi routing etc, you need multi boxes.

      @SourceDistributionTV Před 7 lety +7

      H9 most definitely does work at line level, in fact we've been that same Model D at Synthfest and MPX through that H9 in the background! The H9 just takes signals up to +4dBu. From the manual: "Inputs are optimized for instrument in but will accept line-level signals up to 4dBU before clipping."

    • @manuvre7999
      @manuvre7999 Před 7 lety

      SourceDistributionTV Yes, but, I found I needed to reset input levels for every H9 preset. When I used it via effect send on my A&H Mixwizard3. I had to do a lot of tweaking to make presets usable. Then the goodness flowed!

    • @midilyfestyle
      @midilyfestyle Před 7 lety +3

      I have an H9 that I use with both a sub 37 and a eurorack modular. It automatically compensates for different input levels and I've never had a problem with it. Not saying you're not having a problem with your setup, just throwing that out there for anyone who might be considering the h9

    I'm a bit confused why Eventide offer a specific rackmount delay and rackmount reverb when they have units like the Eclipse that feature those effects plus a plethora of others. Same with these pedals...what exactly is the benefit of having multiple pedals if all the effects are inside the H9? Not trying to be rude I'm just undecided what to get.

    I am quite new to music production, so could anyone help me to understand how all these devices are connected, what the setup looks like. So many cables, just could not figure it out. Many thanks folks! Great video, my type of music.

    • @MrEuki
      @MrEuki Před 4 lety +2

      Audio can only be passed through one effect at a time and all the effects are chained into one long chain where the output of one box feeds into the input of the next box. If you were to lay them out, you could see the cables forming a long chain with the boxes as links inbetween. All of these effects can be bypassed, meaning that the incoming audio won't be affected and just passes through the box, but the audio still goes through all the boxes, even if it is not affected.
      Why can the audio not be split and run into different boxes simultaneously? It can, but since the actual time it takes to process the audio might vary slightly depening on the effect and the algorithm in question, it would sound off when the signal gets combined at the end again, even if the signal is only slightly off in its timing, hence the chain and not a parallel setup.
      Hope that was understandable.

  • @Deeplycloseted435
    @Deeplycloseted435 Před 6 lety

    Lots of pedals similar to Space, Timefactor, and Modfactor. Pitchfactor however, is in a class of it’s own. I love Space and Timefactor....Modfactor is just okay (prefer analog modulation). There is nothing else quite like Pitchfactor. Lots of octave pedals, and some that do a few pitch tricks, but its really unique.
    I could get rid of the rest, and replace with Strymon or Empress or many other equivalents, but Pitchfactor is one of a kind.

  • @Deeplycloseted435
    @Deeplycloseted435 Před 6 lety

    The Eventide boxes, or their massive rack units, are the closest thing to cheating that there is in electronic music. One can make a simple sound from a cheap VA sound glorious with proper FX. There are indeed amazing plugin FX available, but there is something to be said, a bit of magic to be had, by hitting the FX directly and before you hit the convertors.

      You can run them in send mode, just run in fully wet mode, eg: no dry signal - aux send to pedal, return back into the mixer

    Thank you guys, excellent job. Tell me, anyone who sees this, how would the Eventide Space hall reverb differ from a convolution reverb in the box, like Logic's Space Designer? Do you have a strong preference?

      I have the Eventide Space and Time Factor. And I use Logic. I choose the Eventide because you can TOUCH THE CONTROLS. Watch the video again. I don't see a computer.

    I'd love UAD to do a plugin version of that space reverb

      Eventide has tons of plugins, the Blackhole uses the algorithms from the Space Reverb and the Ultraverb has tons more.

      thanks I'm thinking of buying Blackhole, still would love a UAD version as big reverbs are usually taxing on CPU

    Weird - seems someone forgot to wire the 2nd cable for the ModFactor...

    Question: is he saying you can't automate the different parameters in Ableton unless you have Max for Live?

    • @midilyfestyle
      @midilyfestyle Před 7 lety +1

      Danny Peculiarbleeps You don't need max for live. There are many ways of programming Ableton to send CV to a midi track. You can program a midi clip in session view to send midi out on an empty midi track, for instance. Max for live just makes it easy to make a custom device that is already setup for the eventide's CC numbers

      Ok, I feel silly now) I did have a feeling that was the case, but the language he used confused me slightly at the time! I have the Space now, and love it to bits.

      Strymon wins the delay and mod algos, the reverbs are very different, strymon are heavenly, beautiful reverbs. Eventide is darker, alien. For synths I prefer the Space, and for delay check out the Empress echosystem, that things have very nice algos and you can use two (any two algos) in series or paralell. Where no ones compete with eventide is the pitchfactor.

      The dynamic range of a Strymon is more narrow.
