He's not a robot, he's a CYBORG. He has human organs, and can feel pain.
Same with Cyborg and Beast Boy's dynamic, sure they were friends but they had ONE issue they constantly argued about...
Diet. Cyborg disliked Beast Boy's vegan lifestyle, while Beast Boy hated his meat eating tendencies.

In "Teen Titans Go!", the way I've seen and viewed the show Robin is often portrayed as the butt of jokes and subjected to mistreatment and abuse from his teammates. This portrayal can be harsh and, at times, uncomfortable to watch. Robin's desire to be a respected leader is frequently undermined, and his teammates often play with his emotions and humiliate him. Here are some examples that illustrate the mistreatment he faces and how it affects him:
    1. Undermining Leadership: One of the recurring themes in "Teen Titans Go!" is the team's refusal to take Robin seriously as a leader. Despite his earnest attempts to organize and lead the team, they often ignore his commands or mock his leadership style. I think one episode called like "Dude Relax!" highlight how the team prefers to goof off rather than listen to Robin's plans.
    2. Emotional Manipulation: The team often manipulates Robin's emotions for their amusement. For instance, in the episode "The Fourth Wall," the Titans make Robin believe he's finally getting the respect he deserves, only to reveal it was a prank. This kind of emotional manipulation is cruel and leaves Robin feeling humiliated.
    3. Public Embarrassment: The team frequently embarrasses Robin in public. In "Let's Get Serious," Robin attempts to make the team more serious and competent, but they mock his efforts, leading to public humiliation. This constant embarrassment contributes to Robin's feelings of inadequacy and frustration.
    4. Disregarding His Feelings: In "Staring at the Future," Robin tries to get the team to think about their future, but they dismiss his concerns and ridicule his attempts to plan ahead. This disregard for his feelings and ideas reinforces the notion that his opinions don't matter.
    5. Lack of Support: Robin's strict and sometimes rude actions can be traced back to the lack of support and respect he receives from his team. In episodes like "Be Mine," where Robin goes to great lengths to impress Starfire, the team's lack of support and understanding only exacerbates his insecurities and frustrations.
Despite these challenges, Robin remains committed to his team and continues to strive for their respect. His resilience and dedication highlight his strength of character. Even Bumblebee, when she joins the team, realizes how poorly Robin is treated and acknowledges his efforts as a leader.
Raven, despite her own flaws and occasional rudeness, sometimes shows glimpses of being a good friend to Robin. However, the overall dynamic of the team often overshadows these moments, leaving Robin isolated in his quest for respect and validation.
The contrast between Teen Titans Robin and Teen Titans Go! Robin is stark. Teen Titans Robin, with his strong leadership skills and respected status among his peers, could provide invaluable guidance to TTG Robin, helping him navigate his team's flaws and become a better leader.
In conclusion, the mistreatment of Robin in "Teen Titans Go!" is evident through the team's constant undermining, emotional manipulation, and public embarrassment. Robin's actions, though sometimes strict and rude, are often a response to the lack of respect and support he receives. Despite this, Robin's dedication to his team and his unyielding desire to be a respected leader demonstrate his remarkable character and resilience.
I still love Teen Titans Go Robin still 😢 Sigh, all I can basically do is go read a fanfic where Robin gets treated better than the actual show.

I feel like most of the time, he is reasonable, and while bossy, he's really the only one trying to get the titans to do their actual job of being superheros.
Because they just see him as this bossy guy, the other titans find him annoying, and so they constantly bully him, make fun of him, and bring out the worse to him.(they sometimes go way too far with it too)
Of course, his flaws are exaggerated, but he is portrayed as annoying and selfish and all of those things because he's so hated.

What I hate most about TTG is that they tried to justify tormenting Robin because of his bad character and behavior. But fuck, what they do to him is beyond human comprehension, they try to ridicule him at almost every opportunity and karma will always come back to him. However, the further you go into the series, the rest of the team becomes more and more hateable and you start to feel sorry for Robin and hate the rest. Beast Boy especially becomes such a mean motherfucker. Of course there are still episodes where Robin is wrong, but you still feel like he should have won considering his "team". This whole series is the everyday life of cartoon psychopaths and you feel sorry for Robin only because it's 4 chaotic psychopaths vs 1 psychopath who wants to control everything. I really recommend watching a video from the Cartoon Netwrok channel called: "Teen Titans Go! | The Titans Deal With Robin" and other videos from YT about Robin's abuse. After a decade of the show, his Villain Arc is completely justified.

When it comes to the ratings, there actually is a reason why Teen Titans Go is “better.” Ratings on Cartoon Network are based on how often people tune into the channel when a show is on. For example (and I’m putting an imaginary value here) If 5 people decided to go to Cartoon Network while Gumball was on, Gumball would get a +5 boost to its ratings. This is also why Stephen Universe, despite having an extremely passionate fan base, didn’t do so well in terms of ratings, cause it was a show that barely did re-airings for episodes and new episodes too a WHILE to come out. Teen Titans Go though? Cartoon Network made the brilliant idea that for a while, it would be the ONLY SHOW airing on the channel. Of course it had better ratings, it was the only show capable of “receiving” ratings. Then CN would look at the statistics, assume its doing good, and double down with how often TTG episodes would air

Honestly the movie wasn't that bad but I feel like it severely mishandles the 03 gang at some points. For example, that scene at the end after the GO cast goes back to their universe, when 03 Robin makes some awkward drawn-out remark about how weird they were or something, the rest of the 03 team just looks annoyed and bored with him. That's something that would happen with the GO version of Robin, not the 03 version.

You don't understand Go Robin like I do 😞. He's basically the punching bag character. where they try to make him annoying as possible at times.
He is probably the most responsible titan (other than Raven, but Go Raven just doesn't really care about anything. She just wants to do her own thing, and i think she is also the character that has a lot of growth. They've done multiple episodes going more indept for her character)
Anyways, I'm going to get back on track. Go robin is basically the only one who actively tries to get the titans to do something productive or do their actual jobs as superheros. There are many episodes where he is trying to get them to do something productive, and the others just dont want to and goof off instead. He does take things more seriously than most of the others as well.(i think the others even make fun of him for being too serious or telling him to chillax. could be remembering wrong, tho)
He is made to be the bossy character as well. Which makes the other titans very annoyed at him, so they constantly pick on him, bully him, and don't take him very seriously. The most notorious ep I can think of is the episode where starfire, beast boy, and cyborg basically tell robin his parents are there to see him and robin gets super excited then realizes his parents arent there bc theyre dead and the others just laugh at him and say "april fools". Raven comes along and even comments on how that was really mean of them.
I think the issue is that Go Robin gets the worst brought out of him be cause of the other go titans. Not to say he doesn't have definite character flaws, but the writers probably want him to stay as the "hated" character.
I will defend Go Robin every time!

6:12 Ngl, Go robin could have REALLY used some help via the real robin helping him come to terms with having no powers, improving his leadership skills, temper management, and various other aspects since he is a comical exaggeration of Robins flaws...
And then the actual robin can learn what he needs to improve, granted, he can breath a sigh of relief that he's not nearly as bad, but Go Robin is a reflection nonetheless, even if the worst possible one...

  • @minisquirtle9702
    @minisquirtle9702 Před měsícem +20

Counterpoint to the Robins thing... I don't think it's needed.
TT Robin had... Robinmite. He didn't like him either. If the GO versions are all more exaggerated cartoony versions where they don't have the burdens of any serious repercussions or responsibility it would almost make sense Robin wouldn't like his GO self.
Starfires GO counterpart is just bubbly so they get along
Cyborgs is more loud and cartoony (in personality) but can realistically see him treat GO Cyborg like a little brother
Beast Boys is more hyper and less vegan but still rather close to his TT version. With some... differences in how they speak.
And Ravens is... I mean she has to surpress her emotions a lot so idk maybe she doesn't mind seeing a version without that burden. Plus in a few episodes we see she DOES have a silly side like the time she and the team cosplayed as their leader and the episode Beast Boy went into his mind and saw a physical embodiment of her sense of humor among others.
But Robin and GO Robin are far too different down to their attitude towards themselves, the world, their team, and general competence. I can see why he wouldn't. Robin is the same guy who got beat once by a no name villain and went on a whole journey on a mountain to get strong enough to beat his ass. The same guy who when serious, beat a room of enemies faster than his super powered allies could even land a hit on them. Meanwhile his counterpart can only SOMETIMES hit a bullseye three feet away, gets easily distracted, lacks the respect of his peers in several if not most of the episodes, and according to his own team isnt a good leader. The GO team is shocked and surprised by a team with true synergy watching their 2003 counterparts. 2003 Robin DOES relax and enjoy himself from time to time. But normally he's earned that downtime. Would YOU trust someone who fumbles at every turn only to sometimes succeed with the help of pure luck or toon logic?
In that sense, I can personally see why TT Robin wouldn't like his other and think his GO version is nothing more than an idiot. Or at the very least someone who isn't ready to look after something as important as... whatever it was he took at the end of the movie. I forget.
And as for why TT Robin monologues so much... apart of the criticism of the show of GO was that they weren't serious like the original shows team. And they make this very clear by constantly referencing this fact in the show. So one of the things GO writers did was make everyone super "serious." Hence when TT Robin shows up, he's... constantly serious and monologuing because that's what the writers think he was like.

Had to sit in silence for a moment to stomach the fact that TTG has existed for like 10 years already tbh
Fans have been fighting to get the sixth season of the 2003 series we were supposed to get ever since it got cancelled, TTG is what we got instead when they finally answered, then they teased and disappointed fans once again with the way they announced this movie (leading us to believe that the 2003 Titans would be back, which of course had some of us get our hopes up for season 6 again before we knew it'd be a crossover movie instead with the 2k3 Titans not even actually looking like in the teaser we got either)
The fact that Go has gone on for soooo long while 2k3 never got to have its Starfire season or any explanation for any of the cliffhangers of the last episode "Things Change" really does feel like they're just straight-up bullying us..

    -Canceled season 6.
-Allowed Teen Titans Go to be a thing.
-Allowed the writers to constantly make fun of the 2003 show and its fans.
-Promise a season 6 if one of the Titans Go films did well.
    And lastly
-Create Teen Titans Go vs Teen Titans...
A huge slap in the face to OG fans, as non of the Go writers worked on 2003 Titans and didn't understand their characters, basically making them caricatures of their original versions!

As of season 4 Teen titans go cannot e defended by even the most die hard of fans, after season 4 it seems all the "creativity" wore off.
The show is now definitely bad with season 6 being their worst season by far with season 7 slightly better but just enough to not be as bad as season 6.
What pains me is that after rewatching season 1 I realized a drastic difference between the current teen titans go and the past, season one is easily the most enjoyable season with all the titans actually fighting crime consistently with a little room of shenanigans here and there, all characters are different from their previous versions but not to the extreme degrees they reached by season 3, especially Robin who was actually liked by his teamates and canonically respected until the writers decided to make him the punching bag of the show and it's happened for so long that it's not funny anymore it's just expected.

Again the hatred in some degree died down and people can see the show as either its own thing or completely mute it from their minds, but you CAN see why that hatred came in on full swing when they see how this wasn’t NOTHING like the OG. Again I kind of turn off TTG I was willing to give it a chance when it aired back then, but over time it did got too much or I just stopped caring. (it’s not my fault my teenage years was the era where CN did nothing but air TTG)
I can say that they honestly did Go Robin and OG Robin both dirty.
Nether are in character, OG Robin feels less like OG Robin and more like how GO Robin actually acts like throughout the show but more serious while GO Robin feels like a parody on GO Robin, which was already a parody on OG Robin.
He’s fair more childish than normal (which is saying something because again TTG) has lost his sense of responsibility, something he actually has in the show, I mean he’s literally always preaching about it and a good amount of episodes are literally biased on him trying to handle is responsibilities while the other titains goof off and don’t take things seriously.
(That episode were he has to take care of the bat cave comes to mind)
And he’s literally incompetence to a brain dead degree. A running joke throughout the show is that the titains are actually kinda seen as incompetent (a self aware joke based on how they act) but thanks to Robin they actually can be competent when working together and taking sh*t seriously every once and a while.
But that aspect is literally gone in this movie because Go Robin couldn’t really be himself due to them basically Turing OG Robin into Go Robin.

If you listen to some panels with the VAs they state that they just think about something stupid and turn it into an episode because the whole show is for funsies. I understand that we had this amazing show previously but just like the ending of the OG, things change and you simply can’t control it no matter how much you hate it. But besides that, when it comes to things like this it’s a hard collaboration to make since you have to mash up a show with story (that is very important to keep) and a show that is totally random (all it needing is a fart joke). It was probably a super hard movie to write knowing they had to keep that silly humor to fit Go.

I personally watched TTG all the time when I was little, I watched it with my siblings and parents and found the characters weirdly endearing. Fast forwards to today, where I realize it wasn't as funny as I remembered, but the show was charming in it's own right and own unique and, I admit, rather flawed way. I still don't think it deserves just as much hate as it gets, but I digress.
What I'm trying to say is that it has / had potential. And this movie had SO much potential, way more than even the GO! show did. Go Robin has been shown to have had a horrible and toxic childhood and relationship with Batman, and to an extent, the 2003 one also likely had some kind of falling out with Batman. The Go Robin had also been shown repeatedly to have been a better person until he met the Titans.
With this in mind, I feel like the perfect way to play into this while giving both Robins and arc of their own would be to just have one scene with JUST the Robins alone together. Staring at the sunset or something, alone. 2003 Robin could ask Go Robin something personal, perhaps about his traumas and backstory, something that pushes Go Robin to open up even if he doesn't ever confront those emotions in the TTG show despite very clearly having issues, some of which caused by meeting the Titans. When Go Robin is with the Go Titans, he's a worse person, so just opening up to 2003 Robin and letting the two understand each other in just a 5 minute or so scene would allow for them to both grow, allowing 2003 Robin to comfort Go Robin or even just relate to Go Robin in some way or another before they go back to the group.
This would also allow him to later, while likely with reluctance, allow Go Robin to hold the little orb thingy that I forgot the name of. Go Robin could be excited to be entrusted with it and, now understanding his 2003 counterpart as well as himself better, he could be responsible with it and just take care of it for a while.
These scenes wouldn't have to be long, but even the slightest changes could allow for both of the characters to have grown by the end of it, even if Raven's arc is the main focus of growth. I know I sure as hell would love both the Go version more, even if I already think of him somewhat fondly due to memories with my family, and I'm sure haters or even just dislikers of the Go show might like this version of Robin slightly more.

TTG is okay, I have enjoyed most of what I have seen, but I’m not going out of my way watch it, I don’t think it will be remembered too well in 20 years as anything more than a silly show that people watched as kids (whereas 2003 TT will be remembered with nostalgia)
Put another way, TTG is like junk food, it’s satisfying in the moment, but devoid of true substance and not very filling, whereas TT 2003 is a proper full course meal
And that is the reason why this movie should never have been made, they simply do not go well together

As someone who used to HATE Go for what it was and what it took from us. I can look back on it and say it honestly wasn't that bad. In fact I think the show works really well when it leans into the more meta aspects of its storytelling. Like if the show was just about a team of superheroes trying to make it big on the pop culture world by playing into and parodying all of the tropes of the genre I think way more people would at least tolerate it. Its biggest problem (as is) is that it uses established characters who are already connected to an existing and beloved franchise.

    *SIGH*
This happens a lot with DC.
Batman fans are actually the least loyal of all fandoms, which in a way is actually good because that means Warner Bros. can’t expect to just put a bat mask on any crap and expect us to give them money for it. And the reason we’re like this is because they did try. Several times.
Anyway, this sounds like a joke but it’s true; the primary motivation for all the baffling descisions Warner Bros. make with a lot of DC property is toy sales.

"Why didn't this movie about Raven have a character arc for Robin? Besides Raven, there is no character arcs in this movie!"
You're judging the movie based on what it's not, rather than what it is. The creators were not interested in changing Robin's persobality, for the simple reason that seeing Robin being a little snot is funny and changing it would change the dynamics of the show for the worse. You wouldn't complain about Squidward never fixing his miserable life, because if he did, then he wouldn't be funny anymore.
Not every character flaw needs to be fixed, especially in a comedy show.
And complaining that Teen Titans Go! has no moral lessons is not a valid criticism, it's nonsense. Not every kids show needs to teach morality, sometimes it can be just silly fun. The show is pretty much Family Guy for toddlers

Like in one episode, Raven tells her friends to read a book when they were bored, and when they got bored of reading their books, they opened Raven’s book that released evil characters and at the end, they learned that reading is dangerous??
Even as a kid, I was like “Is there no library in Jump City?”
That’s just one example of a plethora of bad episodes, plots, morals, messages, etc.. There were some gem moments and episodes I enjoyed but the show failed to live up to what the OG Teen Titans did.
