That route westwards from Madrid across Northern Extremadura, skimming the slopes of the Sistema Central's range (highest peak is precisely in Gredos: almost 2,600 meters high) is just stunning!!! (one of my favourite getaways in all Spain). Its natural scenery (mountains, thick Mediterranean forests, water gorges and teeming with wildlife). Also, historical sites. This area is not well-known outside Spain. Very low populated too. I myself also thought about living there, is a very cheap region too.

Hi Stu; these property videos are getting better and better! By the way, I am glad that you "read aloud" the text of the property ads!! Cheers, Rob.

8:08 the 'strawberry tree' is the name for the Arbutus, called 'Medronho' in Portuguese, its fruits look like strawberries and seem to be used for brewing the alcohol for aguardentes (aguardientes/fire waters).

I'm glad you talked about my area, Extremadura! My husband and I live on a farm called Las Viñas which is located in a field between Zafra and Feria in the province of Badajoz. We bought this 2.5 hectare land. Since we are two holistic therapists, we thought of creating a therapeutic retreat where we could host nature and organic food lovers. Our project is not only to create a healthy place to live, but also to be able to carry out our therapeutic practices, such as massage, sauna, sound therapy, water therapy, meditation, music, art, etc. This is an area "uncontaminated" by business and tourism, 100% rural, frequented by many nature lovers who love to take long walks among the wonderful hills of the area, also because we are on the path of the Camino della Plata which joins up with the famous Camino de Santiago, known for pilgrimage. We are still in the construction phase but I believe that soon we will be able to start advertising "the field of Las Viñas therapies"🌿😁🌼✨☀️

Hi Giovanna my names Atu, I’m looking at doing my Camino in July August just wandering if you guys needed a volunteer on your farm! I speak Spanish and English, I am a labourer by trade and in my early 30s! I’m not looking for money a place to stay or food would be enough but I just want to give back to people and a country that gave me and my ancestors life! If you can’t I completely understand as a lot of people are not so accommodating to strangers but I thought I would ask?

4:25 The typical white stork nest. Extremadura is a little larger than Switzerland but it only has one million inhabitants. It's all countryside. I like Badajoz because I was born there, near Don Benito, but we have to admit that Cáceres is prettier

When you said strawberry trees, I thought it must be a mistake, but when I looked it up they are a real thing, very interesting 🤔

The strawberry tree has nothing to do with strawberries. It is the tree with a bear in the badge of Madrid

Thanks for posting these videos...Lately I've been interested in other regions including Extremadura, perhaps not to live full time but for a bit of down time from Madrid.

Thanks for these very informative videos. I am an enthusiast for solar systems. In our new house, three months old, we installed the largest system we could fit on our roof. We just received our first electric bill and it was negative $48. The electric company paid us $48. Wow.

Thanks for this great video Stu, We love the Campo and and prefer to live in the countryside ,we are lucky our house in Malaga is in the campo but only 30 minutes away by commuter train to Malaga centre and the coast, the best of both worlds, in our opinion of coarse, cheers.

Nice area! Thank You for giving us price ideas. We are getting things situated here in CA and hope to move to Spain soon. (If the Lord permits) We would like a small rural home in Asturias. But not too far out. I’d like enough room to have some Miniature Mediterranean Donkeys. 😂

Very interesting. Beautiful view from these houses on the countryside. I wonder what people do regarding internet connection in those houses on the countryside? Is there good 4G coverage everywhere in Spain?

Hi Stuart, we are regular visitors to beautiful Spain but still unsure about the tap drinking water. Is it safe to drink in Spain? I see everyone buying bottled water in Supermarkets, including locals. We have been buying bottled water for drinking cold, but use tap water in the kettle for boiling for tea/coffee etc.
