She's internintent fasting & not eating as many calories = weight loss.
Dr Mindy swears by 17 hour daily fast, followed by 36 to 48 hour fasting. So does this mean that it’s a gateway to starving yourself? I honestly feel weak and have gained weight from doing long fasting.
And as a diabetic you simply can not fast. I had hyperglycemia gushing sweat and shaking. It can be serious and lead to a coma. Ozempic is a life changer . So much more healthy. Like I mentioned it’s not just about the weight loss. My diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol is under control. It’s also a plus for not having as much weight on your body, knees, hips, back etc. it’s not a bad narcotic drug. FDA approved and insurance p😢a large amount. I pay $11 a month.
@@HH-gv8mxlong fasting ruined my hormones even though I followed dr. Mindy. Maybe try a mild fast 12-13 hours.
@@HH-gv8mxcheck out Gin Stephens (Fast. Feast. Repeat.)
@@HH-gv8mxif extended fasting is your goal you should look up sbg priming on CZcams.
Wow, who knew eating healthy whole foods instead of junk would help you lose weight?
😂😅
Yeah and definitely consult your doctor before you replace that KFC or fatburger & fries for those scary oats! What a tool!
Fun fact, the closer the oats are to original form, the slower the digestion, and the lower the sugar spike. Old fashioned whole oats, and steel cut oats are best.
Oats are often contaminated with glyphosate and other toxins
A lot of people trying to bulk will get steel cut oats and mix them in with a protein shake.
@@circletech7745 I'm talking about eating just the steel cut oats. A protein shake has a lot of calories, and if the oats are pureed, then it's like eating instant oatmeal.
@@ElleGen dont you need some protein??nstead of just carbs
It’s oat milk. Flavored oat milk.
At least you don't have to buy it. 😂
with the fiber intact
most oat milks have added sugar -- but, just as importantly, removed fiber through filtering. This would be much thicker than oat milk. Would still suggest adding protein poweder though.
Oatmeal does make you feel full but you can't survive on that alone. Instead of working out and making the correct changes people want a quick fix for everything.
💯
But they are also cutting calories and exercising. Let them think it's the oatzempic, so the diabetics can have their medicine available when needed.
@moniqueuu8777 right. Like some are literally saying they're combining it with intermittent fasting. That alone spurs weight loss.
Yeah, it's why new fads pop up all the time. Laziness is 💯 the main reason why.
Oats are healthy though, as long as they are part of a balanced diet
I eat raw oatmeal 5 days a week. But I add raisins, pea protein powder, beetroot powder, nutritional yeast, flax seed, and lately some tart cherry powder. I top it all with milk. Yum. I don't get tired of it. (I also eat a couple of pieces of fruit with the meal.)
Sounds awful.... You had me at beetroot
@@TunaLounge Beetroot is a natural way to lower blood pressure. When you get older, you will understand. Glad you don't need it yet.
I love raw oatmeal🤣my mom used to eat it. She always maintained a healthy weight. She was 4’11 and weighed between 110-115lbs.
I made middle eastern overnight oats organic sprouted oats with saffron , rose water , cardamon cinnamon , pistachios chia seeds and canned coconut milk 🥛
This is all mental. Apparently they are eating less calories so they’re losing weight. 😂 Jesus take the Wheel!
He doesn’t want it, and I don’t blame him. The people are beyond nuts 🤣🤣😂😂.
@@TonioDC79🤣🤣🤣🤣
You’re missing the point that it helps people who over eat by making you feel fuller longer.
Good for them not being lazy and resorting to drugs. Healthy choices = healthy out comes.
That’s probably because these people have stopped eating all the crap they were eating before
I started Ozempic 6 months ago. I lost 40lbs and my diabetes is from 10 to 5.7. High blood pressure is way down, plus my cholesterol is under control. Ozempic isn’t just about losing weight. The side effects is being healthier. When I did diet on my own I had hypoglycemia by 4:00pm. Shaking and gushing sweat and that no longer happens. If any of you have done this on your own, Good for you. It’s not for everyone . I’m good with my weight and my health now.
Awesome. This will help someone. Thanks for sharing.
I think so much of the negative feedback is coming from the lying.
I'm an Oprah fan. Obesity is not my particular thing, like anyone I have other things. But for her to not just lie, but lie in a way that was a slap in the face to those who also struggle with eating & have been on her 3 decades long weight journey with her. She was the one who chose to share it all those years. Made millions from it and then suddenly all of this weight loss but "I didn't cheat". Imagine had she just stayed quiet instead of apparently letting her ego or greed take over. Anyway. Others have lied too. Now the cats out of the bag & It even seems like down to earth Kelly Clarkson is lying. They've all lost weight before but now it's with these super flat stomachs & more narrow faces. Maybe she's being honest. I hope so bc it will take away from the image she's built. Again congratulations to you.
@@rasta487 Thank you for your kind words. Absolutely a lot of lying. I have not had any issues with bad side effects. Everyone’s appearance is better, but go get lab work done after 6 months and that’s what’s important. 👍
I love the lady they had on. She was so direct but trying not to laugh lol
Imagine going to the doctor just to ask if you can have oatmeal for breakfast. These TV doctors live in a bubble thinking we have this muvh access to Healthcare providers
Is it sustainable is the ultimate question. A balanced diet, strength training and consistency will always win over these silly trends. There are NO QUICK FIXES IN WEIGHT LOSS!
💯
Dr Mindy swears by 17 hour daily fast, followed by 36 to 48 hour fasting. So does this mean that it’s a gateway to starving yourself? I honestly feel weak and have gained weight from doing long fasting.
It’s not the drink you’re literally consuming less calories lol omg people are so dumb 😂
Exactly, if someone said add poop to your almond milk you will lose weight and look younger they would.😅
Ozempic also makes you feel full all the time which allows you to eat less easier. 'Oatzempic' is supposed to mimick that in its feeling full through out the day function which allows you to also eat less. So it's not about being dumb, it's the EASE of eating less that they are interested in. Try eating at a regular calorie deficit, and compare how that makes you feel and whether you can continue long term with ease
Let them live. At least there'll be Ozempic available for diabetics, who need Ozempic while they believe drinking oatmilk is aiding in their weight loss.
I thought this was an April Fools joke but it’s real!
i didnt think of that... i think it is though
Of course you will lose weight, you’re not eating
Oats are food and it is good for you!
Dr Mindy swears by 17 hour daily fast, followed by 36 to 48 hour fasting. So does this mean that it’s a gateway to starving yourself? I honestly feel weak and have gained weight from doing long fasting.
lost 4 lbs in 5 days? I lose that much after a bowel movement.
I alternate days so I'm having oatmeal for breakfast one day and eggs the next. Veggies and lunch meat for lunch and a sensible dinner. Very little snacking in between. I'm doing just fine.
Americans indeed have a preference for shortcuts and instant results. Oatmeal alone is not a healthy choice for weight loss.
Exactly.. like obviously oatmeal can help you lose weight if it's pretty much the only thing you eat but so many people don't realize that just by including it as a part of your diet with other healthy foods, you will also lose weight. Shocker! (sarcasm)
Nothing alone is a healthy choice for weight-loss. It's all a combination. But OATS WILL HELP YOU LOSE LOTS OF WEIGHT.
As a person who NATURALLY lost 200lbs, this ain't the way.
What is the way
Oatmeal is incredibly healthy to incorporate it does it all, but it can also cause bloating and weight gain for some people. It's best to have it 2 to 3 times a week.
Instant oatmeal, yes. Not true with old-fashioned whole oats & steel cut oats. Especially steel cut. Digestion is much slower & blood sugar won't spike. The whole grain reaches the colon with nutrients, feeding healthy gut bacteria. Instant oatmeal doesn't do that.
Oatmeal has been getting a bad rep, but my grandparents have lived into their mid 90's so far eating oatmeal almost daily. They have both always been thin/normal weight.
I feel like the gatekeeping of weight loss contributes to weight gain and mental distress. Doctors hate to see people get results without them. This may not be the absolute best way to lose the weight, but it has to be better than stuffing your face all day. You’re trying to tell me that replacing ONE meal a day with this shake and having two nutritious and clean meals is bad.?
Exactly. They are not consuming some dubious supplements. They are only eating oatmeal, which almost every American has grown up eating.
Maya’s beautiful and carries herself well. Comments on point too.
Using a bowl of oatmeal as a meal replacement twice a day has helped a lot of people lose weight. Plus one healthy meal each day. No need to drink it as a shake.
Oatmeal used to be used for treating diabetes before insulin was available. Dr. Gregor has a youtube video about it.
OMG this expert is amazing!!! She really seems like she supports healthy living rather than dieting and trying to go after some shallow ideals. love love love
Considering the ingredients allowed in the average consumed American good, these folks could be doing way worse than oats
When I started intermittent fasting I wasn't eating any oatmeal and I lost weight. Newsflash: Fasting after dinner until mid morning before you eat helps you lose weight! Not snacking all evening helps you lose weight. Who would have thunk it? Oatmeal has little to nothing to do with it.
Now I did see a video showing how Allulose (a no carb sweetner) works on the GLP-1 receptors and can act like Ozempic. Also it turns out meat also works on the GLP-1 receptors too. And meat has no carbs so it continues to work.
I bet there are more than a few very satiating foods that work on the GLP-1 receptors erasing your hunger and allowing you to intermittent fast. So good luck with your oatmeal ozempic. Hopefully it won't give you the diarrhea or the gastroparsis that ozempic does.
interesting
My client Dave today had a lot to say about you guys on GMA!!
They had absolutely nothing else to cover
This is just a quick fix, and it's not sustainable. Losing weight safely takes time. To the woman who was complaining about the number on the scale not moving fast enough, please note that a pound of muscle vs. a pound of fat look very different on the body. So, depending on your workouts, you could be losing fat but gaining muscle. This is why the number on the scale looks like it isn't going down.
Lol they're losing weight because they're in a calorie deficit, not because of this oat concoction.
this can work, but not to replacing all your meals you still need your nutritionist food. I say you can do that to replace one meal and then still have a balance healthy meal for lunch and dinner or have a healthy breakfast lunch and then have that meal replacement for dinner.
Why does she keep saying respectful when it comes to meals? I didn’t know meals could be respectful or disrespectful.
I love just eating oatmeal with some cinnamon in it and apples…yummy…but this seems better than taking drugs …😊
I use oats to help with heartburn before a meal
This is nothing new. It's liquid oatmeal. Duh.
The world is way too easily influenced!🤦🏾♀️🙄
Yes
For some reason we don’t need a doctor when ordering out a “meal.” However, whenever someone drinks a smoothie instead of eating lunch or a snack every tv show proclaims a doctor’s note?!
You can just do that with meal replacements. When my husband found out he was a diabetic he would drink two meal replacements and only had one meal. He also was taking his diabetic medication and he loss a lot of weight. My husband didn’t do it for weight, he did it for combating his diabetes he just so happened to lose weight.
I lost so much weight and saved so much time and money from eating oatmeal based food in college it is amazingly simple how many recipes you can create from using it as a base
I am using Psyllium instead of Oats - way less calories and bulkier when mixed with water. Just mix and drink real fast before it becomes a thick porridge.
Bodybuilders: "Eat oats to gain muscle"
Moms: "Eat oats to lose weight"
Diabetics: "Wow my prescription's back in stock"
😅
I wonder who came up with this bs
people were cooking chicken in nyquil last year...you don't want to know the answer.
There was that whole pesticide thing about oatmeal and cereal so...
Oats are always good for you!
Not everyone can do meal replacement under medical supervision, as the nutritionist interviewed suggested. And honestly, this oat-zempic shake-while a few additions could make it far healthier than oats and lime alone-it is still waaaay healthier than commercial cereals, poptarts, ultra-processed granola bars, etc.
The nutritionist saying “buy chia and flax seeds”-again, yes there are a hundred ways to make oat-zempic healthier. But chia seeds are expensive and many Americans can’t afford “extras” at the grocery store. Oats are cheap. Why not suggest other foods your viewers could buy cheaply and possibly in bulk?
I am not typically a GMA viewer (but I am an avid reader of clinical nutritional research). I assumed the show would do a better job of educating around this trend, while also being realistic about most Americans’ budgets and current dietary habits.
I can almost guarantee that if someone thinks oat-zempic is healthier than their current breakfast routine, it probably is. Nobody with nutrition science knowledge is going to eat this for breakfast (they might use oats as a base for a ton of vegetables, fruits, seeds, and so on). But this is far, far healthier than 95% of Americans’ current breakfasts. Discouraging it and saying, “oh you are too stupid to do this without medical supervisions, and if you can’t afford that, well, I don’t have any advice besides ‘try chias seeds’.” Ugh! This is why we have such a health crisis in our country right now. Shitty advice from outlets like GMA that command such a large audience.
Interesting what people put on TikToc! This was cool information but; I use my oats mixed with peanut butter to make snack protein balls.
A regular banana, spinach, pineapple smoothie is better!
Eat less and move more always works too! 😅🥛
I wonder if this is being talked more about because many became fearful of the oat recalls.
...if they don't go sit down and eat some oatmeal for breakfast, drink water, workout, and eat healthy meals. So dumb
I just ate oatmeal
Exactly, just eat OATMEAL!
I started yelling at the phone because the reason people are getting results because they're doing healthier eating and intermittent fasting - not just because of the oats!
The dietitian they interview after gives very good advice and contexr.
Got to get ready for swimsuit season......😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😅get that summer body ready
I really doubt that having this shake for breakfast every day hurt anyone who is eating well in other meals
Dr Mindy swears by 17 hour daily fast, followed by 36 to 48 hour fasting. So does this mean that it’s a gateway to starving yourself? I honestly feel weak and have gained weight from doing long fasting.
I started doing a six hr fasting window everyday. I start eating at 1pm. Works so well. Nothing else worked
@@slayqueen5996 you mean you do a 6hr eating window. And an 18hr fast everyday. Do you workout? I cannot run or workout with food in my stomach. I have to wait until after 6 PM when I get off work to do a workout. And then I can eat.
@@HH-gv8mx yes 18hr fast. 6hr window. I was walking but have cut down on my walking time bc the 6hr window is better than all that walking. Might add some weights.
lol just eat oatmeal three times a day and workout for two months… you will lose weight and build muscle
I prefer goat-zempic. I eat goat grilled with tortillas and refried beans mixed with chorizo. Sometimes I eat a pozole and replace the chicken with goat.
sounds amazing lol
Goat is a healthy red meat, and less calories than chicken.
Can people really not tell that it isn't the oats but the intermittent fasting doing the calorie deficit?
It’s the dietary changes in general not this drink. Good grief.
This woman is absolutely correct.
It's good old fashioned calorie restriction. That will usually mean weight loss.
Usually not for Type 2. Type 2 diabetes usually means Carb Intolerance, calories don't matter
"I lost 4 lbs in 5 days."
Mathematically nearly impossible given that a lb of fat is 3500 calories. She probably stopped eating/drinking and lost a lot of water.
Better this than the maple syrup thing but it’s still crazy!
What's a respectful smoothie?
Popular media news outlets need to just stop trying to report out on health and wellness. They end up doing more harm than good.
Oh my God we’ve been doing that in the Dominican Republic for years. Is only temporary
Pesticide milkshake, hurray!
When I eat oatmeal for breakfast and eat it again for dinner I do lose weight but I have a heavy lunch too.
Oatmeal is always great for weight loss! You don't have to blend it, it's good in a bowl too!
Very true. This fact has been widely accepted for years. The few people who say otherwise are presenting a facade that was made up in 2021.
Sooooo….people are restricting calories to lose weight like they are supposed to. How is this news? The world is getting strange.
As for the pain In that mom’s knees, she should do more research…. Golden milks and or turmeric daily or every other day will help with the inflammation that is in the knees
All I know about it is my mom was unable to get her diabetes meds for 2 weeks because of it, putting her health at risk for people to afraid to touch grass and work out in terms of the ozwmpic drug. As far at the Oat-zepic fad, people are just pointlessly starving themselves, so when they return to a regular diet, they will gain it back double
Let them believe that it works, if it helps them lose weight, encourage more healthy eating and continued exercise. It's better than using all the medicine and it being unavailable for diabetics, who need it.
It is sad that we need something to keep us from eating, overeating while others are living with very little to no food at all.
Anyone cutting back and replacing high calorie meals will loose weight. I will stick with a slim fast meal replacement when I need to🤷🏻♀️.
Middle schools should have a nutritional science class
yes, but then the health and pharmaceutical industry won't have anyone to take money from. lol
Uh…it’s oatmeal…oats, water, cinnamon (and she added lime). It’s not cooked but instead put in a blender. People have been eating oatmeal as a healthy breakfast for centuries. 1 cup of oats has 10 grams of protein. 2 eggs has 12 grams. So no, she doesn’t need more for breakfast. But yes, referring to it as oat-zempic is ridiculous.
Uhm… eating clean, less processed food has always helped people lose weight….
Im no expert but isnt barley better than oats for dis? It has more fiber, making it more filling and less carbs/calories
Ummmmmmmmm.....did he mention the 2nd meal?????????
Seems like an ideal diet food….
Just last month we learned that oats are contaminated with plastic.
This is dangerous. Oat itself does not have enough nutrition.
So now we have to address this on the actual news? This has to be a joke...
People get dumber everyday with social media
Yes😅😅
😂😂😂😂I would be careful with oats because they have recently out they have a lot of a certain pesticide on it. I'd be sure to use organic oats. The better option is to fill up on veggies.
They are losing weight because of CALORIE DEFICIT not Oats merely...
duh...
If you only eat chicken and broccoli no sugar for 10 days with little strength training you retain you muscle mass and fat starts to burn...
They are losing weight fast, it's probably muscle mass... this is classic calorie deficit case... wow 😂 I am shocked why I didn't know this before,. Eating less causes weight loss....
Wow they switched to healthy eating
please lord bring the meteor
If folks want to lose weight to be healthy than let them. The medical and fitness industry are mad folks are spending LESS money to get to a healthy weight.
i mean can we just drink sugar free oat milk instead?
Oats have high levels of pesticides, even organic (yup. Look it up) and you’ll have incredible flatulence at work. Good luck
Find a healthy diet and be consistent you will retain a healthy weight. Starvation is not sustainable.
and if your starvation hormones kick it you will actually stop losing weight
You have to be careful when eating/drinking uncooked oats. If there’s not enough liquid with it you can choke on it. Eating it cooked can also make you feel full and is safer than uncooked. Also bananas can make you feel full longer….just don’t eat too many because they are high in sugar….and sugar is sugar no matter if it comes from fruit or added in. But I agree with all the other comments….these people are just eating less and that’s why they are losing the weight…the oats aren’t actually doing anything other than making them feel full longer.
People, focus on being healthy, not skinny. 🙄
right
Nobody’s talking about the bad gas raw oats cause?
Glysophate exposure risk on those oats
I’m more hungry when I eat oats and I gag on the last bit I get dizzy as well
Can't they just...eat some oatmeal? Like old fashioned or steel cut oats?
I'm sorry... This must be Quaker oats trying to save their company after being found out they used pesticides that is dangerous for children and adults alike.
Also if you are diabetic... Do Not do this... Oatmeal broken down will definitely spike your sugar. Steel oats can slow sugar spikes but still has a lot of carbs in order to be meal. Don't do it unless you get an ok from your endocrinologist
Yup, damage control PR
Oats are not going to spike your sugar because they are a complex carb and not a simple carb. Complex carbs don’t spike your sugar while simple carbs will spike your sugar. Thus, whole grains will not spike your sugar because they’re complex carbs while refined grains will spike your sugar because they are simple carbs.
@@CreationForeverMinistriesYep, I have always seen oatmeal recommended for diabetics because of this.
Healthy vegan diet works wonderfully ❤
So making oatmeal into a shake is extreme but eating it is not ... Oatmeal all of a sudden becomes extreme as part of a weight loss program ... geesh, lol
