    I very much prefer the version where the Captain starts and we go clockwise. it makes it harder but more fun. Because the captain is not influenced by who wanted to go first

    Things I never expected on GameNight!: A two-somethings one-something else reference. Zoinks, Dave!
    This looks like one of the rare games my family would actually play. I look forward to the English release. It seems like it has that same "The Mind" magic where you feel really good when you get the ordering right, but aren't ever too angry when you get it wrong.

    FWIW, the original French rules say that 1/ the captain goes first, and 2/ you win as long as at least one unicorn remains. The captain going first makes it a bit harder, since the extreme cannot just blast through. However, you win as long as you have one unicorn, so that balances out I think. Myself, I think I prefer the French rules.

    I get why the game is played the way it's played, but I'd like to see it played where everyone wrote their answers down then everyone revealed them and the judge decides the order. It would force everyone to come up with an original answer instead of just modifying an existing answer, which to me, seems like a way of "gaming the system"...it's very gamery to just take someone else's answer and add a modifier to it. But I get it, there's a lot of fun to that, and it creates a meta too, so I get it. But the pure gamer in me would prefer to rank 5-7 answers rather than 3 answers and 2-3 modified answers...which seems more like an easy-mode version.

    • @Jau111
      @Jau111 Před 2 lety +2

      I agree. When I first heard about this game, I thought everyone would have to write their answers down. It would reduce the downtime and the captain won't forget everyone's responses.

    • @toffah
      @toffah Před 2 lety +1

      I thought about something similar. So one person could say 5 bricks, and the next player could say 8 bricks or 3 bricks. Basically you could easily modify your answer to make it slightly better or worse than a preceding answer rather than coming up with something original.

    • @steelbeard151
      @steelbeard151 Před rokem +6

      Agreed. We're going to use use the equipment from another party game, "Just One" to allow people to write down their answers and then turn them all around at once. Easy to move them around to rank them, too, and then everyone puts their card next to their slate and we turn them over one at a time. Very fun.

    • @saintsalieri
      @saintsalieri Před rokem +2

      Speaking the answers aloud is a more social experience, which must be what they are aiming for. Part of the joy is acting and getting real time credit for your jokes. It's also less fiddly than dry erase, which would ruin the game for me.

    • @theaxer3751
      @theaxer3751 Před rokem

      @@saintsalieri I agree, but I also get what people say about it feeling like "easy mode".
      My house rule would be that players have to give their answers in clockwise order with the captain going last.

    I have no earthly idea how Mike nailed his Cap-ten guesses in the 2nd game. It sounded like 5, 5.5, 5.75, 6, and 6.25 to me. And not in the order he guessed! Very impressive!

    I think you should wait for everyone to come up with an idea and then tell them all one after another without that huge pauses because I had problems remembering your answers as well. Of course you could change or calibrate your ideas before saying them aloud but it could still prevent the pauses.

    I think in this game players should have to write down their answers or just go around the table starting with the captain. With giving your answer when you're ready, players with middle numbers will just wait for the players with high or low numbers to go. I think this has no chance of winning the Spiel award.

    Grilled cheese is lower than tuna sandwich. You can only really discuss the bread in the picture of the grilled cheese. You can talk about bread and condiments on the tuna sandwich. Top 10 does seem backwards. Should be worst place in 10 and best place at 1.

    • @marquonuk
      @marquonuk Před rokem

      That's an interesting comment, and shows how this game works, but is hard because we put our own experience on it. I had tuna sandwich below grilled cheese just because it would take more effort/energy to make it, and one is served cold whereas the other is hot. Doesn't mean I'm right, I'm just saying that's the beauty of the rules. :-)

      Chuck I am sorry that they frustrate you. We have never had any sponsorships on our show and resisted them for a long time. But this partnership is the best possible situation for us. Gamegenic does not expect us to feature any specific games and want us to continue what we are doing. The only thing they want from us is to show how many sleeves are needed for the game, feature their products and show some ads. Our show has never made any profit other than the extremely small amount of money CZcams provides us from their random ads, that are infinitely more profitable for CZcams. We also are not monetizing GameNight videos so there should no longer be the random breaks CZcams inserts. Plus Gamegenic makes some amazing products. I hope you understand our situation.
