    Jimmy Snuka did my card school in the 70s and was a super guy. He was hired for autographs for half a day and he was so popular he stayed all day and even help put the tables and chairs away. SUPER GUY

    Jimmy Snuka did my card show in the East Bay Area in the '70s and was signed to do only a 2 hour appearance. It went so well and Jimmy had so much fun that he stayed the whole 8 hours and signed 100s of free autographs, took all kinds of pictures, and taught all the kids how to get in and out holds. Simply the best ever.

    Jesse really does have a great voice for naration. His color commentary was a hoot! He and Mean Gene really did have a chemistry between them, they played off of each other perfectly and both were hilarious.

    I love watching these wrestlers reminiscing about the days when they were kings! I remember as a kid watching AWA and being glued to the tv every Saturday morning! Lol. Fun times when I had no cares in the world! ☮️🖖🏽

      Take me back to a golden era of TV 📺. PBS and Saturday morning cartoons. Communication was better and we didn't have cell phones. Any who... Wrestling was depending on market either NWA, WWWF or the AWA.

    My grandmother was a teacher at a special needs school in Anoka, MN. When I was about 10 years old there was a family emergency and I was dropped off with my grandmother at her school. I was playing with this little girl name Jade, out of nowhere I heard the unmistakable voice of Jesse Ventura. I had no idea Jade was his daughter.
    I had so many signed cards (bdays, xmas, etc) quite the collection, then I joined the Air Force and when I got back from being overseas I learned my mom sold my entire collection, including my signed copy of Predator which Jesse got several cast members to sign it for me.

    My twin brother and I grew up listening to the hilarious banter between Jesse Ventura and either Vince McMahon or Gorilla Monsoon on all of the wrestling broadcasts. The man had excellent mic skills. I rarely took notice of him while he was an active wrestler, but I'm sure that he was very entertaining and flamboyant to say the least. Thanks for all of the classic ring memories Big Jess! ✌️😎🤓🎂🎉🎊🙏

    I had a smile on My face the whole time I was watching this. I grew up watching Jesse "The Body" Ventura wrestle. Jesse is an all around great guy and an amazing storyteller. He is definately one of the greats! They dont make em like that anymore.

    I moved into the greater Portland TV market in 1983 and remember flipping through late night TV and seeing Portland wrestling. Lots of the greats wrestled there.

    In the 90's I could stop by Village Inn, for coffee and pie, and see Superfly there eating sometimes, wearing his leopard prints, from head to toe. He was always very nice and friendly.

    My one cousin was working out in a local gym. He saw Jesse and Tony Atlas spotting for each other. They were supposed to wrestle each other in the main event that night. My cousin said why would you be spotting each other than have to fight tonight? Jesse said that Tony was the only person he knew there that was pushing the same weight as he was. He's the only one I can trust. He trust me just as much.

      That’s the thing , He wasn’t a great wrestler. His mic skills were his Gig. I could listen to him all year talking. He’s a genius. Period. Not afraid of anyone or anything. Period. The only Guy who stood up to Vince and Won. 💪

      Jesse had a very short in ring career, I think maybe about ten years at the most, probably why he is still alive versus all the guys he came up with, who are mostly dead.

Good memories of watching wrestling on Saturday mornings as a kid. The nwa days of the 4 horsemen, sting, stiener bros, road warriors.... just makes it hard to watch wrestling nowadays

    Remember seeing Jimmy Snuka, Dutch Savage, Apache “Bull” Ramos, The Youngbloods, and many others at Seattle in the seventies. He was truly a king of the ropes and get out of any submission hold. Awesome good ol’ days.

      We used to go to watch wrestling at the Seattle center close to the Needle, and I was still in grade school then. With twenty dollars we could pay to go in have ring side seats, and buy souvenirs. My aunt and uncle would have drinks with some of the wrestlers, some of them were real characters. Even seen some real ally fights, after the matches, hence , the creation of ally matches. Yeah, it’s hard to watch now days , wrestling is lost from its former self. I call it soap opera’s with tights. I’ll watch AEW , and smaller venues to have a little more authentic feel to the sport.

I also got an autograph at Seattle Arena from Bull Ramos who signed inside of a popcorn bucket I got on ground and he was nice as hell talked to me and my buddy for 10 minutes then said “Now I gotta get back to being mean again you two.” Lmao 😂

    Superfly Jimmy Snuka. Wicked wrestler. First time I saw him was one late night on ITV in 1988. That time ITV was the only 24hr channel in the UK and they used to show *"Superstars of Wrestling"* & *"Wrestling Challenge,"* all brand new at the time. It was through those shows I knew about "Mean" Gene Ockerlund.

    I did stand up comedy for a while, Snuka was a guest one night. I got to hang out with him after the show for a few hours and it was a blast. Ventura would be wild, this guy is next level.

    I enjoy Jesse Ventura. His voice and mannerisms are just like my uncle Gary’s. He and “Mean Gene” announcing on Saturday nights. Fun times…when wrestling was just starting to get exciting.

    I couldn't believe my eyes the first time i saw Snuka do his super splash live at the cow palace, he body slammed his opponent in one corner then climbed up the ropes in the far opposite corner, at this point I'm thinking what the hell, he jumps across the entire ring to land on the other guy it was unreal.

    jesse is awesome..i remember summer slam 88 or 89 in nj he and mcmahon went live on ppv, a few rows behind me was a very loud guy started yelling "jesse jesse jesse" i started with him so for that moment there was only two of us then within one second later the entire arena was chanting it. he was so over as a commentator.

    I grew up watching Big Time Wrestling out of Portland. Jesse first came in and teamed up with Playboy Buddy Rose and he went by the Brain Surgeon, and he never spoke. They funded with Dutch Savage and Jimmy Snuka. Both Jesse and Snuka were built and it was the contest of who had the better full Nelson’s. Good stuff, I remember Piper coming in at 17, Apache Bull Ramos, Johnny Eagles, and ref Sandy Bar.

      Except Rick Martel has stated that Hogan helped him get a house while in the WWF and helped him get jobs. Hogan also didn't murder someone. Randy Savage was also a very giving guy. Try doing research sometimes.

    The wrestling Jesse is talking about was from Portland and called big time wrestling it was also taped delayed and shown in Washington.       I watched Portland Wrestling during the 1970's and early 80' I lived in Wash state. Remember Jessie, Jimmy, Dutch, Playboy Piper, some big names later

      @@stevenbetassa7329 Don Owen the promoter in Portland Pd the talent well but was so cheap he used the same tape to tape all shows for ever, so there are no taped Portland wresting shows but what people taped at home on the VHS, Buddy Rose taped a butch and after he died someone got the tapes and are transferring over to current tapes.

    Who would’ve thought that a man who became rich & famous in a “fake fighting sport” (I say that respectfully) would turn out to be one of the most honest men to ever hold elected office & speak so much truth to power & the ppl. Ventura is an American hero.

    Ventura was a colorful character, who knew he was limited in the ring. His pairing with Adonis worked, because it fused a personality with an excellent worker.

      I think that's the proper way it's pronounced in Fijiian, I've heard Jimmy refer to himself that way in interviews.

    Yes the late 70s early 80s I lived in Portland Oregon we look forward to I believe it was Sunday night. All the wrestling stars were there the beginning it was awesome.

    I LOVE listening to Jesse, the man is smart and can talk. The body was no wrestler by any stretch, BUT on the mic he was pure GOLD! Vince was smart for bringing Jesse in as a commentator once Jesse's wrestling career died down.

      Jesse wasn't a great wrestler but he knew how to work a crowd and get plenty heat. Jesse was a master of ring psychology.

      From what I understand, his wrestling stopped because of a dangerous medical condition. He was then shifted into the talking roles because he was too valuable at it to let go.

    Ventura should still be working for one of the major wrestling development agencies. His experience and knowledge of the wrestling business is impressive. A lot of young guys could really benefit off his wrestling I.Q.

    When my life was forever changed by entering the wonderful, enchanted world of pro wrestling, it was The Body and McMahon doing the commentating. Wow they were good, forming the template of one heel siding and one by the book commentator. I don't think anyone perfectly done it and perfected it like Heenan and Monsoon.
    Haha, Ventura talking, how he talks, you can maybe say it's an accent...."Snoooka.". Hahah

    Age7-10 in the 70's I'd watch team Bull Ramos and Jesse the Body VS
    team Dutch Savage and Jimmy the Fly Snuka at the Douglas county fair grounds in Roseburg Or.
    My grandfather would take us to every match. My brother, cousins, and I sat in the bleachers. He and grandma had front row tickets every time. Grandma would beat the stuffing out of Ramos and Ventura with her purse every chance she had.
    Thank you Jesse for being there even tho you chased my brother and I away when we asked for an autograph.
    That non autograph was the only one I remember. We had dozens from Savage and Snuka. But I dont remember them the same way.
    These men were super heroes to us kids🇺🇸
