  • This may be the driver's Challenger, but what exactly are we driving here? Officially, it’s called a Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack Widebody. The Scat Pack name refers to the 392 cubic inch HEMI that makes 485 horsepower and 475 pounds of torque - and it sounds glorious. What makes this a 392 Widebody? The bodywork, the big wheels, the biggest brake set up from SRT, and the bespoke suspension settings.

    Awesome car and review. I love my 2016 Scat pack 6 speed manual 392. If I was buying new today, I'd be taking home the widebody 392. Dodge hit a sweet spot here and in some ways I'd rather have it than a Hellcat.

      @hemiheritage Před 4 lety +1

      I think u are right when u say they hit the sweet spot here. Perfectly functional, usuable power for the street. I do like the optional suspensions choices the HC offers out the gate and people seem to love their Hellcats when they trade up, but for me, I'd take a 392 widebody. The widebody flares def do a lot for the challey, but the chargers seem to benefit even more visually by adding the fender flares. Being a 4 door muscle sedan, the widebody adds a ton of aggresion to the exterior of those charger

Mine is black on black and was in the process of a 426 build by the mechanic I purchased it from. All sorts of performance stuff in it from a 274 comp cam to a 84mm Arrington throttle body, Stainless Steel long tube headers, Hellcat air intakes, resonator delete and more, High Horse Performance did the tune. Haven't dyno'd it yet but I would imagine its producing about 535-540hp. Great car!! I was a hardcore Mustang guy, but Dodge got this one right. Love everything about it. From the factory exhaust note, the seats, the huge brakes, the manual, the seats, and especially the torque! This and the other review you have are undeniable the 2 best reviews of these cars on the internet. The camera and audio work, the canyon carving driving impressions and video of the car being put through it's paces really stands out. I have wanted one of these for years now and in 3 days will be picking up a new to me 2022 wide body 392 in F8 green with the 6 speed and about 3800 miles. Figured enough waiting. The time is now. No electric anything for me. This car is me giving 2 middle fingers up to our insane administration and Mary Barra at GM (and everyone else that has drank the Koolaid). Electric vehicles and climate change in general are such a hoax. Electricity doesn't produce itself. Electric cars are the solution to a problem that doesn't exist.

      You know who’s sitting back telling the industry he told them so? Akio Toyoda. Their product strategy speaks for itself and he told the industry that there are many ways to achieve these objectives without running blindly into the EV madness.
      Plus, the market is speaking for itself and EV inventories are climbing. Ms Barra herself shut down their full size EV truck production a couple of weeks ago. Not paused, but shut down.

Everyone love the sound of that v8( fortunatley i could keep the stock exhaust wich is very loud for German Laws/Hellcats need an quiter (shitty) exhaust for import) especially the deep tone. For those who are interested, the Exhaustvolume was measured at 97 db(A) at 3750 rpm in a distance of 0,5 m. Thats louder for example than a Camaro SS (95db) BMW M6 (93db) c63AMG (93db) Jaguar F-Type R (96 db) MCLaren 600LT(93 db) at the same conditions.
    Im so glad i get one of last American Beautys, until electric cars will kill the Muscle Car era.

    I am looking at the 392 or a Hellcat, I think I’ve made my decision and I think it will be the 392 scat pack widebody. I believe it’s enough horsepower at 485. I believe it’s better balanced car than the hellcat. Probably $400 cheaper insurance. I think I’m gonna go put that money on a 392 R/T scat pack widebody special order today. I also was looking at the Corvette and I specked it out at $90,000 the Challenger is specked out at $65k no brainer.

    I bought a new R/T and the heated seats worked only after an hour, and the cooled seats only worked twice. The Mustang is the only car that is less quality. Took back under warrantee, but Dodge just charges a diag fee and denies the problem or flatly refuse to fix it. Dodge service is garbage. My Challenger got the most compliments of any car I've driven. Got Mustang and only got two compliments. Got two or three per week in the Challenger.

    Naturally aspirated is where it's at. The 392 is plenty of power for 99% of the population who aren't looking to save a second or two here or there...and you save about $35-40K vs. the top end trim/engine offering. Amazingly one could almost buy a pair of base Scat Packs (one red one black?) for the price of a totally optioned out Hellcat.

    Nothing like a big naturally aspirated ohv V8 & a manual transmission. This was the original recipe for muscle cars of yore. The more things change, the more they remain the same. Ah, to each his own, variety is what makes a horse race. 392 Hemi, 6spd manual, posi rear, the suspension on this 1. I'll take it, add a MOONROOF, a few creature comfort accessories, many will have a gr8 time in it.🎯

    Love the Scat Pack... had to pass on buying the wide body though. For me, I'm a purist who prefers the traditional style, which gives proper kudos to the Challengers of yore. No need to buy and old one and get it restored, since the modern ones look so similar and are far better cars, anyway... the wide body may be better on the track, but those bulging fenders morph the car into something else other than a Challenger. Just my opinion.
