Hopefully people keep buying the manual... If not they will phase it out eventually.. They hanged on to the manual pick up trucks until last year (on the diesel with the cummins option) but now it will be just automatic :(

Had to get the glass tinted dark right away, sunroof tinted too, because it was getting too hot from the sun. Now it's no issue. Stock exhaust note is amazing. This car launches like a catapult and turns like it's on rails. The brakes are remarkable too. People who say "it's only good in a straight line" are clueless. Big & heavy, can't deny that but I don't care. I friggen love it. It's roomy and comfy and a great cruiser.

especially here in Germany it is really something special. I had VW, Audi ect before. But from the first test drive I fell in love with the Challenger. curves.... I don't think the scat is that bad. Yes, you notice the astronomical weight, but especially in sport mode it becomes hard as a board. Did I mention I love him? I also had software done, lower airbox from the hellcat, larger throttle valve from extreme. He now has 530 hp. That changed the chally again significantly. He runs like hell. Greetings from Germany

The original Challenger was classified as an E body while the larger (then 2 door) Charger was part of the Dodge/Plymouth B body family. The original Super Bee 🐝 was a B body Plymouth coupe with standard 440 cubic inch engine rated at 375hp. Glad to see FCA continuing these naming/badging traditions from the original muscle car era. Great review, guys, and I agree that the Charger is an overall better package.

I just traded my 18 Scatpack charger in on a TA widebody and I love it. Its not a sports car, its not going to keep up with even a miata in the twisty bits but if you want a piece of the last muscle car modern retro this is it. Blast some Zeppelin and enjoy the car for exactly what it is. A modern interpretation of a car your dad had.

  • @RobCabreraCh

I love the Challenger. I drove one for a week on a trip, and I drove it for about 300 ish miles per day (3-6 hours of mixed highway and city driving). At first I was really disapointed with the (IMO) ugly interior with extremely low amounts of storage for such a big and heavy car. Also, the steering lag and lack of power made me question the slight extra I was paying to rent this over the medium sized SUV I had reserved (I rented the 3.6L V6 one, it was the one they had).
But as the miles and the days went by, I completely fell in love with it. Of course it was slow, and the steering felt super numb, but as TH said, that is part of the charm. On the highway it felt super stable at about 100 mph (as fast as I dare to go on roads that I don't know, specially with cops around), and while the throttle wasn't particularly exciting, it still has 305 hp on the rear wheels which can still be a bit fun.
But the thing that me love it entirely was just how ridiculous a car like that feels. It has no interior space to put your phone down, the little cubbyhole in the armrest fills up with just the usb cable in it, good luck trying to get two medium-large sized suitcases on the trunk, no power, and slow steering; and yet, I couldn't wait to get on it and just go for a drive! It makes absolutely no sense, but I want one. It just made me smile all day long, and that is what a good car should do.

Thanks for that very fun, enjoyable review! I originally thought the "F8" paint color related to the Fujita Tornado scale... you know how the sky often turns a greenish color before a tornado strikes... but apparently that scale only goes from F0 to F5, so I was wrong. I think it would have been cooler if they had named it F5 for that reason. Gotta love Dodge for continuing to build these beasts! Everybody gives them a hard time for keeping them around for SO long, but you can't argue with success. They're still selling like crazy - even with the stupid-high prices. They are definitely the last of the true "muscle cars".

I have always been an advocate of the Scat Pack over the higher HP versions because you actually have "usable" performance. I'll wrinkle a few feathers and say I can't stand that color on a car and I would definitely get it in automatic especially if it was a daily. I love Chargers and Challengers and while they might not handle as well as a Camaro or Mustang they are so comfortable to drive.

Spent a lot of time with one of these, a couple years. Not a widebody.. but the challenger handles better than you expect it to, its one you have to learn and gain confidence in before you can push it to its limit really because of its weight. But when pushing it hard around corners after a year or so of owning it, i was able to out handle my 3 years owned jb4 stage 3 tune 335i through a twisty road by 5.3 seconds. Challenger is actually very under rated on its handling, wish I still had mine but a woman hit me and totaled it ;(
