You are right on point about Dodge and the personality of their cars. They are unabashedly North American culture-mobiles (to shout out to our Canadian brothers). My favorite thing about the Challenger and Charger (I have both) is that they retain a sense of humor and fun. You can drag respectably in a 1320, scare people on the track with the Widebody, and have the best looking stock engine bay with the T/A, or go over-the-top in the Hellcat and family. All of them get attention on Cruise Night. Dodge succeeds because they don't take themselves too seriously. These are the cars that I drew pictures of on the back of my math homework in 4th grade. I don't care if they are built on an old Mercedes-derived frame, or that they are owned by Fiat. They get it. I like large expanses of sheet metal that go fast. These are perfect for driving those big American highways. That's why I'm a fan.
I'm over 6 feet and have sat in a few Challengers and one Charger. In my opinion, sitting in the Challenger was like the seat in one of those spanky home entrainment theaters you see on the Price is Right.

Got to many things wrong about the specs on this car. Ill let you figure it out. I'm a GM fan, but this car is so capable - I may have to buy one (after driving one for quit some time).
Just a correction, it does have the skip shift lockout because that is the exact behavior you get when one is present. It will force you from 1st to 4th to save gas. Rather annoying which is why if I get one of these Challengers I am leaning 8 speed auto which is a really good one. I test drove both the 5.7 and also the 6.4 with the manual and both cars had the same behavior when plodding around town so it was not unique to your car.
It's a big comfy American muscle car. Note, the Scats and Cats are straight line drag strip cars, they are not a Ford Mustang so don't take corners and turns hard. I know from experience, I owned a 2021 Scatty Charger before I got my ten speed 5.0 Ford Mustang. The Dodge line up is awesome and so much fun.
I used to buy cars because they look cool but then when they perform like crap you wish you would have gotten the faster model. You have to keep in mind that one day that car is not going to look at school as it first did.
I disagree that the dash is "cheap," it's well stitched and constructed with good material. The plastic on the door, especially the lower portion with the cup holder and pockets are by their very construction resistant to liquid/nastiness in the drink holder and things you touch and put stuff in all the time, making it easy to clean. It *is* different and takes moment to get used to but, I actually enjoy it and being something "less" wouldn't work/hold up and something "more" (metal with covering) would be even more expensive and heavy in an already heavy door. I think the seats are just great and fit me perfectly, perhaps even a little tight in the seat bolster (not the back, it's perfect). The charger seats are too small and the shoulder width is cramped for me but, I'm 6'5"/250 and not built like a stick figure. 😉 .The seats adjust to a very comfortable fit and i don't hit my head, despite having a long torso. You mentioned the gas guzzler tax "because it is a manual transmission" *but,* what you're not making clear is... The manual trans requires the *non MDS* (multiple displacement system) valve train so, it doesn't cut between 4 and 8 cyls while driving. This means the engine uses all 8 cylinders, all of the time which is *great* for the engine (less extra wear/premature failure of the valve train) but, as such, it therefore uses more fuel, hence the gas guzzler tax. So, again, it's not "just because it's a manual." I have this same car/color except not wide body although, it does have all of the performance upgrades associated with the widebody to include the upgraded, larger brakes, better dampened suspension, exhaust upgrades, etc. except for the extra wide tires and wheels (mine has 9.5" width with 275/40/ZR Pirellis, still a pretty decent upgrade from the stock, 245/40/ZR Goodyears). I also have the shaker package with the shaker hood, graphics and associated parts. It's not a shabby ride... For a standard body. 😉 😎
And untill 25 miles per galon, well that is a big point to buy one. I know the inside of the world of cars and for me buy a car with high costs on fuel and insurances are usually a good option to avoid that car. Was an idea which a learned during years. Does it? Couldn't find any sort of official literature from Dodge about this. Felt exactly like the skip shift in GM products, but unlike those cars, the Challenger didn't have any sort of notice or prompt indicating that's what was happening. Was really my only complaint with the 6-speed.
@@DriveBreakFixRepeat I thought something was wrong with my car at first. When I called the service dept. where I bought the car from they told me what was happening. This guy's information sucks, he's wrong about half the shit about this car. A standard Scat Pack weighs at about 4200 lb. The widebody is more like 4350 to 4400 lb. All that extra weight is because of the wheels, the magnetic ride suspension, the sway bar which is bigger, and the front brakes. I wish people would do some investigating before they actually buy the widebody because if you compare the two scat packs widebody vs. Regular, the regular Scat Pack will beat that thing every quarter mile pass. The widebody it's not a quarter mile straight car. It's designed for the track figure eights and all that crap. Most of the people who owned scat packs in the USA are going to pull up to a light see a Mustang are rice burner next to it and are going to floor it, that's basically the way it is in Chicago. So I used to own a Camaro ss1le a 2018 model but the thing had no top end grunt. The 2019 Scat Pack regular body is perfect 4 quarter mile racing. If you put Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires 275 by 40 on all four corners that thing will grip way better than stock. The widebody looks cool but other than that it's not going to beat anyting on the Figure 8 track or in the quarter mile, I honestly don't know why people get the widebody, I think they see how cool it looks and they figure with all those goodies on the window sticker that this thing can go without spinning the tires NBA regular Scat Pack but that's totally not the case. A Scat Pack 1320 it's cheaper than a widebody and will do and 11.6 quarter mile straight out of the dealership. The widebody is a waste of money you should have gotten a1320 Scat Pack for that money
I love how every review thinks the parking brake should have a handle. I get that in this day and age it probably should. That being said all American Muscle cars had foot parking brakes back in the day. Hand brakes were more of an import, sports car thing. you could argue that a handbrake would come in handy? But if your gonna be using the E-brake to help you turn installing a hydro E-brake would be the way to go. Then you don't have 2 hand brake handles, Perfect sense? Also you can put a shim on your foot brake release handle and have a 4th pedal, or 3rd pedal on the automatic cars.

ME TOO I AM CONCERNED ABOUT RELIABILITY OF CHALLENGER SCAT PACK. IS IT HIGH MAINTENANCE? EXPENSIVE TO MAINTAIN?
@@microminiskirt The tires are expensive other than that it's more than respectable . Gas cost is not in the Honda Accord class but you know that going in . Oil changes are not bad if you do them yourself around $60 but the dealer will charge around $80-100 full synthetic. Dodge sends you coupons for oil changes that are right in line if you do it yourself. Build quality is very good . I like the cloth seats better than the leather. Great material. I love the way the car looks and how fun it is to feel like a kid again . I really enjoy washing it and getting it ready for my next ride !
All car's have issues. Think in one f1, nascar car, or wrc, it goes to the box a lot of times during the day 😉
Dodges don’t have issues unless it’s a lemon been loving my rt 2013 only oil changes and brakes
Superb review
I would sell my soul for that car. Nice.
DOES THE SCAT PACK WIDE BODY KICK UP DEBRIS FROM ROAD AND SCRATCH UP BODY WORK?
I just can’t get past the it’s big comments over and over ... what are you comparing it to a 1979 Honda Civic ?? Put next to any modern car it is not a boat it’s built very well and out performs most anything out there in its class.
I enjoyed this car, but it's enormous. 10-inches longer than Camaro or Mustang, and ~800lbs heavier than either.
800 lbs heavier what the hell are you smoking... stick to the Honda or maybe Toyota review something you fit in.
@@JDB5824RG k.
It's a real muscle car
@@JDB5824RG It's more around 600lbs heavier than a Mustang Gt, which is pretty damn heavy.
Challengers are heavy, it's really no secret.
Side by side it's noticeably bigger than both the Mustang and Camaro as well.
at true "GT", true to it's origin of "Gran Tourismo". Driven my 2015 SRT for 1000 miles in a day and afterwards feel as if I had driven 200 miles.
Mmmmmmm manual...........love the clutch, short throw, not the through the firewall feel of the mustang...which means I have to sit sidesaddle (horse joke) because i'm short. ( 5'7)
Los Angeles Crest Highway is so beautiful when you're going through the Angeles National Forest. Did you at least try performing a donut at that stop that you were at? That's a very popular car slideshow spot.
I can neither confirm nor deny that the Challenger is a GREAT car to slide around, and very controllable in drift... 👀👀
Which are faster chargers or challengers?
Yup. I have this bad boy 😈😈😈 I wanted it in THIS color of red sooooooo bad. But, mine is black on black.
Don't recall anybody fucking asking you..nobody gives a shit little bitch
I know automatics are faster of the start but getting a manual for these beasts is a must becuz im gonna be reving that sound every 2 seconds
Gustavo Jaime just warm your engine up first👍
I wish my SRT8 was an automatic, Yup the manual is aggressive!
🤺
Just get a trackhawk if u really want a beast auto 🤙🏼
@@mauriceandrews2723 I prefer the agresivity of manual, I'm waiting 😩 to buy one
Loved your video. Very informative. Thank you!!
Great review 👍🏽
Great review.
Joke's on you, mine's being made in Denver.
What’s this color called?
It’s called go mango!
45 MPH in six gear?
I have a 2010 challenger rt, i won't touch 6th unless im going at least 65, at 45 it would definitely lug the engine.
It has a foot actuated parking brake!? Now that's American!
Tell me why when he went on the navigation I seen the cities near my city, there’s Monrovia and el Monte and I stay in Baldwin park haha I just found it coincidence that he lives near by, but overall good video 💯
Phone connection, and save the thousands of Mercedes tecnologic components
Great video bruh..!!
These cars do have a skip shift at certain speeds and rpms.
I don't have a problem with the skip shift but I would've liked to know before the transmission forced me into fourth the first time.
@@s.w.9648 You can avoid it by putting your settings at Custom instead of Default mode
@@s.w.9648 You can have a skip shift eliminator installed. I have one installed on my car and it solved the issue.
2019 scat packs do not have skip shift, earlier years do.
Dude there's nothing wrong with the trans! it's a tremec - what your experiencing is the Skip Shift ! when I first had my RT many moons ago I got a SS Eliminator... but into my 3rd Challenger (manual) and I'm used to them now, it triggers in when the speed is, I forget all the details but it's supposed to be used to save gas... as I said you get a an bypass for it, their not expensive around $18-20- I've had 3 manuals and haven't had 1 single issues with the trans! again that issue your reporting isn't an issue .. built in pain in the arse to save gas! after charging us gas guzzler!
My dude, it's literally on the side of the tire at 1:38. Why even review cars if you can't figure out the tire size just from looking at the information on the tire itself?
Why? Because it still got your fucking stupid ass here. You still contributed to the view AND the comment count. That’s why. It’s that simple. You’re welcome.
Just to let you know Canadians are Americans too, I hope I don't have to explain this to anyone.
I don't understand this comment, I'm just a dumb American.
Yup, they’re also North Americans.
Fuck off! You can keep Justin Trudeau
So are Mexicans!
William Griffith, you wish. By that ridiculous yardstick, Ecuadorians and Venezuelans are "Americans" too, as they are in south "America". But, let's take a rocket ship back to reality, shall we?
"you got your MPG..." - do you mean GPM (gallons per mile)?
Lich King lol i would buy this car only if they improved the gas milage, make it a bit lighter without sacrificing the true muscle car look
I hate the fender flares want be getting that one.
For that amount of cash, why not add a screaming exhaust option as standard equipment. 🤔 Active perhaps?
It roars from factory can be heard blocks away in sport and track custom or auto does not open up exhaust valves fully unless under full throttle and you can feel the difference with the clutch too drop the mid mufflers and it will scream pop gurgle after about 3 months it will be almost as deep as factory break in period mine backfired so loud the other day I had to get out and make sure nothing was not broken😂
@@johnwilliams2378 lol.
Deff getting this or the new mustang. Leaning more towards the dodge tho
Mustangs are for 15 year old girls now

Does this car have engine wine like the hellcat?
Bmx Life no, but if you supercharge it, it'll whine like it
Great review can you drive it all year long
Absolutely...just put some winter tires on...I do...love it...
@@heinzkiefer9748 What's your recommendation for winter carwashes? I live in minnesota and they salt the roads, parking lots especially, very aggressively. Also, should I be worried abuot snow/fluid getting into the intake? I plan on getting the shaker package, not sure if I am patient enough to wait until this fall/winter is over to buy the car lol
On snow i don't recomended use that car. Futermore, with a lot of rain can be like a enter in a casino 🎰, win or lose, but if you enter every day...
Does it drift?
It's actually super easy to slide this car. Suspension setup is softer than Camaro SS/Mustang GT, so less twitchy, more forgiving.
I'm going to take a look at one. And presently driving a Chy 300, this car isn't that big. And the 300 fits in my Mom's garage with room to spare.
I love the parking brake is on the floor!
bro lmao head room isnt an issue TallGuyCarReviews owns a challenger Hellcat Widebody and hes 6'10 and fits perfectly fine........ I also Own one myself and im 6'5 and i have more than enough head room dont know what youre talking about...
