Love how you demo something so awesome using simple strips of paper, tape and paper cutouts. No need for expensive stamps and such (all that is cool too). Thank you for sharing your time, talent and inspiration.
as a printmaker from decades ago, I LOVE this! and I'll try it with my middle school students this spring!
Cool! Please share the results with us! We would love to see!
I never even thought of using washi tape on my gelli plates! Thanks for the idea. The prints look very cool and modern.
Have fun with your washi tape BlaizC!
wonderful. love the multicolored washitape effect
Thanks Sangeetha! I hope you give it a go!
Such simple tools making little masterpieces! The use of Washi tape is so clever, one of those slap my forehead moments. What a great way to use up the not so attractive rolls. My mind is a whirl. I appreciate all of your ideas, thank you!
Thanks! Yes, this is a great way to use up your stash!
What fabulous prints.
Thanks Kathy!
The process just amazes me!! Thanks so much for sharing this with us!!
Glad you like it Carole!
Although yours look professional and beautiful, the process you showed is doable for beginners like me. Thanks so much. Great video.
Thanks manadalaartist! Have fun gelli printing!
Thumbs up!
Time to get my gelli plate out!

Wonderful! Thank you
Thank you Diana!
wow! just really, really wow! thank you for sharing! :)
I'm glad you like it Maryann!
You can use nursing paper tape too - cheaper than washi tape, although it might be slightly wider. Then again you could then later use that tape as washi tape!
Thanks for the tip Debbie!
You could also use painter's tape, which come in different widths. Also cheaper than washi.
This is really cool, I have to try it now!
Have fun gelli printing!!
awesome!
Thanks Barb!
Awesome... it's time to get out my gelli plate!!
Have fun gelli printing Jeanne!
Those are very nice
Thanks Johanne! Glad you like them!
Love this idea, Marsha! And with primary colours you can hardly go wrong 😊 What do you do with your prints? Are they a base for an art journal page or do you use them as collage paper? Or do you just frame them as they are?
Thanks! I do different things with different prints. The ones in the video are bold and graphic and I think they will look awesome when framed, just as they are.
In general, I think I use the ones printed on heavy paper most:
- just as they are
- as a base for art journal pages (or scrapbook pages, though I can only vaguely remember the last time I scrapbooked)
- as a base for mini books
- as a base for cards
Prints on lighter weight or transparent paper most probably become collage material or sometimes I paste the complete print into an existing art journal. If I had used a lighter weight paper for the prints in the video, I think I would've loved to use them to wrap presents. I think that would look awesome!
marsha valk Thanks for your reply. I was wondering as these prints looked finished just like that. They have a kind of contemporary abstract art look, like the famous series by Mondriaan. I think they would look great in a frame!
Yes, I think I will do just that! :-D
What kind of paper is being used?
Hi Theresa, I'm sorry I didn't catch your question sooner. I use drawing paper to pull most of my prints.
