I am a lifelong painter and printmaker. I have recently been working with the Gelli plate and acrylic paint getting great results ( with all kinds of papers, mixed media methods etc.). I have studied your video thinking it would be a good place to start with my students ( with premade stamps and minimal process). I have tried your method several times with zero pickup results! The fluid acrylics seem to simply be staining the Gelli plate - nothing more. The transparent mixing white is not picking them up. I have tried different papers with no results. In studying other artists who work with the Gelli plate ( artists who talk to the viewer) I get excellent results with no problems. Btw, I use Golden paints and quality papers. My plates are all Gelli brand. Please advise how to go about achieving success with your method and materials. Thank you, Lynn

This is criminally underrated

I love these and all of the ideas. The continuous pattern to. So pretty layering it all together.

If you oil and cover plate with an acetate sheet for storage between uses this eliminates a lot of problems like paint drying too fast, paper tearing, and paper not picking up enough paint. Oiling and covering between uses is especially useful in a dry climate.

This is basically a painting. Not sure why the printing process is added since you only get one print out of this. (And yes I'm familiar with monopronting)

Hi - I have tried unsuccessfully many time to transfer an inkjet image to gelli plate. I printed it in B&W after making a halftone of the picture. Contrast is good. Black acrylic is wet and thin on the plate after rolling it with the brayer, then I lay down the laserjet image - lightly toughing it for 3 to 5 seconds and then life. It comes off easily - not sticky the way in your video. And ALL of the ink comes off the plate onto the paper. If anything, there might be one small part of the image on the plate somewhere and it is way to light to be meaningful. I dont know how to be lighter with touch or faster with laydown to prevent so much of the acrylic from coming off the plate. Do you know what I need to do? I am out of ideas and frustrated!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! My laser printer died and I had to get a new one, just a mono, but I've spent all-day trying to get a good print! Just about given up, then I came across your video and passed my images through my Xerox twice (high res) and it worked!! Thank you so much, would never have thought of this. No to be patient and let the first layer dry properly before putting the next layer on 🙄

I rarely use my sewing machine for anything other than making cute zigzag stitches on journal pages. But this is something I think I could sew!! 😅
