When a game opens up with a message telling you to get food before jumping in, you know it's going to be *beyond* chill.
@QuiXotiC Some games are designed to be a challenge, others an experience. This is the latter.
It's a visual novel, not a typical game.
they really mean it
If you cared more about the mechanics of the game you clearly did not pay attention to the dialog of the game, and how related it is to current events in our timeline
@@DarkWolfenstine they're just talking of the gameplay element of the game. Said a lot of positive things about dialogue as well
Hey everyone,
Just wanted to drop by and say thank you for all the wonderful comments. So glad to hear you guys are enjoying this. Reading all of the positive feedback keeps me motivated and encouraged to push myself and make every composition the best I possibly can. Thank you for that!
Michael Kelly no thank you for uploading this I really appreciate it. your doing great work.
You did an amazing job and helped create the perfect atmossphere for my personal game of the year. Not many games manage to really touch me emotionally, but i have no trouble admitting i cried when it was over, because it was over and i wanted more. Thank you for your beautifull work of art. I wish you a great christmas time. Be proud of your work and never let anyone tell you otherwise.
This is amazing omg
Amazing soundtracks i have listened to most of your public work, really big inspiration can't wait to hear more from you.
Wonderful music, matches the game sooo well! Thanks for giving birth to this! :)

I first discovered this OST right after my daughter was born in 2018. I would wake up late with my wife and hang out with her while she fed our little girl. I'd listen to this music and think about how nervous I was to be a good dad. But I also felt hopeful and excited.
She's 4 years old now, and I still put this on for her. She likes to dance to the music, and it makes me smile.
You are an amazing person
If I could give you a high-five I would. Just saying.
I just wish the best for your daughter and family
this is what I wanna do to introduce this song to my future children (if I ever have any)
I always know I can come back to this place for comfort.
at many points, this game made me think hard about various things in life. everything from relationships to the future.
it was alright
I agree with you..
Like what?
@@SpikeTheWolf If I had to guess, maybe relationships with others (family, friends etc.). Sometimes those things can come back to bite you, but thats just life. It's always going to be hard, but we should live on, because we can.
@@mrlakiro5526 toxic parents exist, shitty backstabbing peers exist, endless bills exist. Fuck this shit
@@trevorfranks69 You also exist. Focus on that above all.
Whoever made this OST should be absolutely proud of themselves. It's hands-down the best OST of 2015, if not the last 5 years. I haven't enjoyed a soundtrack this immensely since Frozen Synapse.
Michael Garoad.
aka the guy who posted this video 😂
Agree to disagree. This OST is great, I'd definitely put it high on my list, but it's definitely not the best OST between 2010~2015.
Going off the top of my head and talking mainstream stuff, there's Interstellar, Inception, Attack on Titan, Whiplash, How To Train Your Dragon, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Drive, The Social Network.
Even in 2015 alone, Undertale is a very strong competitor for that "best OST", but I would rank Second Round above it.
@@imasepan Well... I thing that he is talking about games.
@@capivara6094 Maybe, but like I said, Undertale is a pretty strong competitor. I disagree with him saying "hands-down".
omg "Every Day Is Night" has been stuck in my head ever since this game came out

Already nostalgic over the game, finishing it was like losing friends! :( Thank you for the music.
I feel that man, I was sad to see it end. Though there is a good ending if you missed out on it, and the game is just as good the second time as it is the first. That's how you know it's a keeper.

This game is so comfy.
15:49 I was on a road trip and our car caught fire, so we had to stop at a car dealership a hundred miles from home to get a drive home. It took hours between us getting there and getting out, and in that time, we spent a lot just sitting in our broken car. In there, I had this in my recommendations and decided to check it out. When I heard this song, I knew I had to try the game, and I've been a big appreciator of it ever since. This was almost a year ago. Va-11 hall-a has been a great experience and I thank this upload for introducing me to it. Also song bops.

I skipped over to the song "Everything will be okay". It's been a rough evening, and that's just what I needed to read and hear. ❤️❤️❤️
love how the comforting and peaceful serenade of Everything Will be Okay is immediately followed by the tense March of the White Knights
When I was working at a summer job, I would listen to this soundtrack (more so this whole video) while I worked.
Well not really worked, more so walked to work.
I wokred a over night job at a garden center here in canada during the summer. Each night I would wake up close to 2-4 am (depending on the starting shift). After getting up and going outside in the dead of night to walk to work, it would take close to a hour to get work some times, depending on the weather. But every time I walked to work, And listen to the songs from this track, it would help me pass the time. It also reminded me that while I wished for a better life, or a better job, at the end of the day (or night) I was working at least, that I was alive. I was alive, I was able to look up to the night sky and see the stars, I was alive and I can feel the wind on me, and I was alive and could eat some good food, and have some good times.
My message is that while you may not be in the best spot in life, and might not be working the best job, your alive, and sometimes, that's all you need. because being alive means you can experance the simple things in life as you walk around your towns, at any time of day.
I'll never be not absolutely impressed at how long this OST has stuck in my mind. I played VA-11 HALL-A like a little over 2 years ago, and to this day I still come to this video like once a month AT LEAST. The amount of soundtracks that have done this for me I can only count in one hand. You Sir, are truly one of the best composers I've ever encountered. I will definitely keep an out for any of your future works :)
Also here for my monthly serotonin boost lmao
This game helped me get through a very rough patch in life.
I hope one day I can find my own hole-in-wall with a caring bartender I can bleed my heart out to.
On occasion I find myself coming back to listen to this OST
It's amazing, and dare I say...

Often there are great games with great music and you love the music even after playing the game. Every so often, there's music that's so good, that if you don't own the game, it makes you buy it. This is the case for VA-11 HALL-A

6:28 My fav. I had it on all the time. One day I filled all jukebox slots with it
Happy achievement.
Tbh there wasn't a single day in-game that wasn't on my jukebox. That song is such a banger
Pretty sure I still fill all my jukebox slots IRL every day with this song.
It was Every Day is Night and Welcome to Valhalla for me. These two were always in my jukebox without fail.
Played it a couple years ago and I keep coming back to this OST. There's something so very nostalgic about the soundtrack and the game that made me play more than a hundred hours of what could, coding wise, be just an early Flash game on some random game website in the early 2000s. But it isn't, the writing is charming, the characters are fun and the soundtrack sets it apart. Being able to choose you own tracks in the beginning of every night? That's *chef's kiss* material right there.
That's what V2 is for.
I love how half of the quest worlds in vrchat use this sound track lol
here on a random tuesday morning to say thanks for the tunes!
It seems that the popular Asian Mobile Game “Girl’s Frontline” made a special event based off this game. I found this because it mentioned the artist in the mission selection page.

Michael kelly. I hate you, and love you. Im 3 hours into my 19th year of life, and im already bawling my eyes out. I dont know how to describe it, but every song, just makes me feel welcome.
Wow, where has this been all my life? ♡.♡
Music is mostly appreciated in accompanying, or being accompanied by another art like in a Music video and here this might be the other way round and appreciated as a game accompanying music. Having listened to this OST, the effusie impulses of your creativity, where almost every entry has the feature of a gem found in one ost, the clarity of their appearance in arrangement and in the mix likewise, as well as the length to which they amount, while not knowing much about the game, I am convinced that it makes the game better than it already might be.
The first round was already content of this, taking off, whereas the second one arrived at a by-gone VGM, even Anime era, or rather kind of musical craft, in which it might take its place surrounded by variously precious titels, but might as well keep us company in the present, reanimate and resume to unearth the beauty hinted there.
Really glad after all the time of knowing about you to see you thrive!
Anyway, congratulations and cheers!
+AlphaOrchestra Thank you so much, AO! :)
+AlphaOrchestra Have you ever heard of the game "Sword and Sworcery"? I'd say it also exemplifies the concept of a game built around the music.
+Kniroid This is the first time, but I find these approaches interessting. "Audiosurf" would be another example.
Track 23 is just absolutely perfect. When the music hits the 51:10 mark, I get chills. Every. Single. Time.
It's incredible just how much emotion there is in each track. I love every second of this OST, the melodies are unforgettable. Thank you Garoad!
"Every day is night" Reminds me of the city nightlife...
WOW! I mean...WOOOOW!
I was mesmerized by the trailer's music, so I had to look for the OST. DEFINETELY GONNA BUY THIS.
It OOZES 80's style, classic 16-bit and coin-op games, it oozes classic 80's anime and it's absolutely great on its own. Love it. 10/10, perfect.
Shades of Yuzo Koshiro and beyond that. I always thought of videogames, just like movies, as a complex form of art that's actually made by several art pieces that come together to form a collective work that benefits from the work of all artists partecipating to it, and music is by no means a small part.
There were obviously very talented artists working on this game and you are clearly incredibly gifted. Kudos to you, thanks for your beautiful, soul-enriching work of art.

I'm surprised someone knows about Yuzo Koshiro, and here I thought only car guys and Maximum Tune players who only knew about the artist
You are thinking about kids nowadays. I was born in 1978 and grew up with 8 and 16 bit classics. XD
The GFL collab got me here, the writing is really good and the music just fits so well... considering buying the OST and Va-11 HALL-A itself now.
If you liked the collab, you'll definitely like the game. It's amazing
I recommend it. Streaming-chan and Dorothy are pretty problematic, but the writing, characters and music otherwise are fantastic. Play it at night time with the lights off and just take it all in. It was wonderful
I smell a lot of 80s Japanese pop and synthwave stuff in this not to mention some Shoji Meguro in there... I really like it to be honest!
I thought it's only me who can sense Shoji Meguro in there.
The shoji meguro is very faint I think.

I only recently heard about this game, and I'm listening to the OST for the first time...
... and yet, it feels nostalgic. As if I'd heard each and every track before, maybe in a past life. It feels like returning home to visit your family after you moved to another city, and you'd forgotten the warmth of your special place, but it was always there, waiting for you.
The music encapsulates this perfectly, it's just... I love it!

Still coming back to this even a year and a half after playing the game!!
Definitely need to replay this game.
Your OST first attracted me to it years ago. This is a genuine soundscape. You can just feel the setting of the game in each song. But they're all open-ended enough that you can grab w/e from the jukebox and it just works for whatever is being said, by whomever.
Anyone composing vg-osts should listen to this at least once.
It's genius that in the game you get to choose which song plays in queue on the jukebox, because then every song means something different to each person. For example, I played snowfall a lot so it's like my "at home bartending" theme. It's magical!

It's been years but I still love all the music you made for this wonderful game. It really added a lot to the whole experience, thank you.
Absolutely incredible work, Michael!!! I just started playing this game for my first time this past week and, as another composer, I can truly say this is incredible work. You manage to take Synthwave into unique territory and make it something truly emotional and resonant. This isn't your typical Synthwave that I so often hear trying to copy 1980s movies with the rolling basslines or giant snare drums. This is genuinely symphonic, emotional and I love the tones and ideas you come up with. It's so dream-like with bells, pianos, bright pads and honestly feels like it leans more into 1990's music which is just my jam. It's so different and that uniqueness is what makes it stands out. Very well done!!
