Non-binary is a spectrum that can even be all or lack of gender (aka genderfluid/pangender and agender), so a non-binary individuals place on that spectrum and the gender of their partner would determine weather they can fall under "homosexual". But homosexuality is the attraction of one gender to the same gender, it's not exclusive to men and women, a demiboy only being attracted to demiboys would be homosexual. There are more specific terms that *can* be used, but in no way shape or form are they REQUIRED to use them.
That statement doesn’t “work” with these homophobes because they’ll quickly turn transphobic and go “well a trans woman isn’t a woman, so they’re still straight!”

My sister has a friend adopted from South Korea into a highly fundamental Southern Baptist family, and at 13 she told her parents she is questioning her sexuality and may be bi or lesbian. Her parents told her that they would disown her if she was not straight. Fortunately my family made it clear to her that she would be welcome to live at our house if that happened
