    In this video we show you that you do not always need to replace the foam in your seat cushions. Those shifty seat cushions can be tamed in some cases by adding a little foam to the back. Save money before you spend it. Check out this video if you have this problem.

    I am a semi retired upholsterer and have been doing upholstery since I was 19 and went to work at Helene’s Sail Repair shop. I am now 61. I’ve heard you suggest using staples to attach Dacron to cushions and or as in this video to close a cushion. I just wanted to let you know that I have used staples to baste cushions together for years but I always removed them after sewing my work together. Using staples in vinyl work to keep vinyl from growing is a must. I forgot once to remove a staple from a cotton slip cover I was fitting and had the staple rip the cover. To say I wasn’t happy is an understatement. You guys are awesome to watch and almost make me want to open my shop again. However my torn up tendons in my tensioning hand says not so much!

      Hi Johnette,
      I really appreciate the GOOD advise. Hard knocks seems to be a pretty good teacher. I try to plan for what will go wrong to avoid it. My father told me plan for the worst and hope for the best, I am really grateful he told me that. Sorry to hear about your hand, thanks for your years of advise, and keeping furniture out of landfills. Cheers friend, Paul P.S If you think of something else let us know.

    I really enjoy watching you guys work together. Random: Grant somehow reminds me of a young Leo DiCaprio - if he had dark hair. Anyway, great job as usual!

    I understand your post was done over 5 years ago, wish I would have found you all back then. My question is can you give any advise for refinishing/re-enforcing the cushions without using the feather duvet cover?

    • @ucsolutionsgivingmore
      @ucsolutionsgivingmore  Před 2 lety

      Hello Mary, thank you for leaving a comment. I think I understand your question. The duvet cover offers comfort very little to no support, only a plush feel and look. You can go with all poly foam inserts, in fact 90% of furniture use only poly foam, no feather duvet covers. I hope this addressed your question, if not send it to me again in a different form. Thank you again, please share it helps us when you do. Cheers, Paul

    Hi Guys, Thanks for the video. I have the same problem as this video shows,plus lack of support. My cushions look just like these except the foam is three pieces sandwiched together. I wish I could share my pictures with you to show exactly my problems. My feather cover had a zipper so I was able to remove the foam.

    I am wanting to make a slip cover for my couch however I have a leather couch how do I make pattern if I have to put pins in leather. Wouldn't that leave holes in the leather?

    • @ucsolutionsgivingmore
      @ucsolutionsgivingmore  Před 8 lety

      +cdgibson100
      Hi,
      Thanks for watching! The best way to anchor the pattern without using pins would be tape. However, whatever tape you use, don't leave it on the leather for to long or the adhesive will ruin the leather. Painters tape or a low adhesive tape would be best. Thanks again, and I hope this helps!
      Best Regards,
      Grant
