1:00:14 The Yu-Gi-Oh card Jack was talking about ("wombat") was probably Waboku (it means "reconciliation; peace; rapprochement" in Japanese), and it reads: "You take no battle damage this turn. Your monsters cannot be destroyed by battle this turn".
Its original effect was indeed more confusing, though, since it read: "Any damage inflicted by an opponent's monster is decreased to 0 during the turn this card is activated".
So you can technically attack if your opponent activated Waboku, but any damage you deal with your monsters (to your opponent's monsters or life points) is negated.

So for anyone interested, this is what I was able to find on the German board game thing
1) In the 70's and 80's, likely to an extent today as well, American board game companies were more targeted at children and weren't taken seriously, so games that were mass produced had no appeal to adults and so had very little popularity. Meanwhile at that time Germany was purchasing the most board games of any country in the world. They took games more seriously because they had games that were designed to appeal to all ages
2) Board games fall into very distinct categories - American style and Euro style. American style board games, at least traditionally, were very luck based so they made the player feel like they had very little control and that their skill at the game didn't matter as much. Monopoly is a game that is notorious for this. In contrast, Euro style games are much less dependent on luck or randomness, and allow for more skill growth and strategy - which makes people want to play more so they can get better at the game.
Euro style games also popularized not having player elimination - for example in Monopoly when you are bankrupt, or in Risk when your armies are defeated, you are eliminated from the game. In many cases with a board game that's more complicated, if you get eliminated from the game early enough you could be waiting and doing nothing for a very long time while the game continues, even when it's down to only 2 players - not fun. Because Euro style games tend to not have an elimination mechanic, everyone can continue to not only play the entire game, but there's a chance they could make a comeback and even win in the end. Euro games tend to purposely avoid common board game mechanics such as rolling the dice and moving, or capturing points like war games, and randomness being the key factor of the gameplay - and game boards tend to be random or irregular instead of fixed and symmetrical - this leads to games that feel more fresh every time and avoids players employing the same exact strategy in every game.
They also are more aimed at social play - allowing for a more broad amount of players and not as lengthy play times. And they place more emphasis on resource gathering and personal development rather than direct conflict with other players
I fully agree with Arin’s belief about “we’re all electricity, we go somewhere”. I talk about it all the time with my mom, how we believe we all are energy that has to go somewhere. Like that law of energy in science, all energy and all matter is constant. Cannot he created or destroyed. Our physical bodies (matter) will transfer into the dirt and whatever, but our “souls” or energy, will transfer into something, we just don’t know what. Energy can’t just disappear, it can only transfer into another type of energy. And I feel a kind of comfort in that. Wether we forget where we’ve been or not, we never FULLY die! ❤
