Today is all about a very important vegetable - if you have men in your life because they need to know what I've got to teach you. Also, if you want to avoid cancer, if you want to stay young, this vegetable is for you. It's so warm and creamy, you're going to love it.
Let’s talk about acorn squash and other types of squash such as butternut squash and spaghetti squash. These vegetables are so delicious, and they're perfect in the fall and the winter for us to enjoy. Because they store well in your home so you could stock up on them. These are also great prepper foods.
These squash, specifically the acorn and the butternut helped to reduce the swelling in the prostate. This is so important for men as they age, they have this issue and we can actually help use these squash to help reduce that inflammation. As I've been teaching you about the other vegetables throughout this entire nice produce stand here at Tom Leonard, they're all going to give you the vitamin C.
Yet when you have the orange flesh like we do in the acorn and the butternut squash, you're going to get a higher dose of beta carotene, another level of protection for your body. Now, here's the thing I really want you to catch when we eat vegetables like this, which I'm going to take you to my kitchen and show you how to roast these up in such a delicious way. But as we eat these vegetables, you actually have a decreased amount of pain and inflammation.
Now these vegetables are going to give you a good dose of vitamin A, they're going to give you carbohydrates that can give you energy, they're not going to be carbohydrates that get a bad label by some people who are out there. They're also going to help with your immune system. Now, here's what I also want you to pay attention to. These vegetables are really good to help heal and prevent problems in your digestive tract. They're going to help prevent any type of bacterial overgrowth, such as in the bad bacteria. And for people who have respiratory issues, these would be vegetables that you want to pay attention to. So think about all of these reasons that I just listed for you to enjoy some acorn squash today.
I hope I've inspired you to add squash into your family's diet such a warm comfort food, especially in the winter months. Now remember, even though we are cooking these we might lose some of the vitamin C. Some of the vitamin C is more bioavailable, but it's still less but we also increase the bioavailability of the current carotene which is I was gonna say carotenoids and that makes it so we can build our immune system. The antioxidants are still available. So don't negate cooking your vegetables if you just need something warm and comforting. These foods will satisfy. Thank you for letting me serve you God's recipe for excellent health. I'm here to teach you how to be confident in the kitchen, confident in your help, and most importantly confident and understanding how much God loves you with an everlasting love.

Love, love, love butternut squash. I still have a lot left over from last year's garden. They keep very well in a cool room. I also clean off all the goo from the seeds under running water and a colender, dry them over night on a clean towel. Put the seeds in a bowl, drizzle with a little olive oil, season sweet OR savory to your liking and bake at 350 for half hour. Yummy.

My mom and I made a butternut squash dish yesterday, and it was so delicious! She chopped it up and baked it in the oven with some salt and pepper. Very simple and very delicious.

Hi Annette! Thank you for sharing your faith and nutritional wisdom! I have tried both of these squashes and like the butternut squash more because of its texture. I love roasted vegetables in general. I make a roasted butternut squash bisque with sautéed onions and garlic that my family is fond of. I like your tips and suggestions! God bless you!

I am in Australia, I grow my own butter nut pumpkin (squash). I crush my seeds in the blender add turmeric, oats, a little turmeric, cinnamon, chocolate powder, soy milk, a little ice cream, and zap it again in the blender this makes a great lunch time smoothie. My wife, roasts it or we slow cook cwith chicken to make a great soup.

    Thank you!!
I have eaten the acorn squash, spaghetti squash, banana squash and the butternut squash, my favorite is the Hubbard!!!
I like to bread the banana squash and the butternut squash.
My favorite is just mashed with butter and salt!!! I'll have to try adding some cheese.

I just made an acorn squash for lunch. I found it easier to cut it in half if I put it in the microwave for 5 minutes first. After I scooped out the seeds I put a pat of butter and some cinnamon in it before cooking 5 more minutes in the microwave. It was soft after cooking so I just mashed it up a little bit, added blueberries and walnuts. Yummy. And no dishes to wash up.

I recently blended raw butternut squash (without skin of course) with some water and little salt- delicious!!! Good way to get it in with full benefits. I always pour a big glass for my husband to drink when he comes home. I’m going to try blended it with strawberries or in season apples. It’s work, but y’all try! Just found this channel- hallelujah, thank God! I love Jesus & nutrition! Many thanks! Sharing

I like to purchase honey nut squash when in season. They are so convenient to just peel up with a potatoe peeler due to their adorable size. When im on my cycle I can make an easy vitamin packed soup within 20 minutes. I usually add 2 banannas to the puree for extra potassium if im on my cycle. I get very very bad cramps on day 2 of my cycle but after my squash soup breakfast I have a couple hours of real releif!

Squash is good for the spleen. In Chinese medicine, spleen has upward energy and stomach has downward energy.
May be if we eat squash often, it will help pull up our prolapse .
Bupleurum, Chinese herb is good for liver and help prolapse issues, Paul Pitchford said so in his book HEALING WITH WHOLE FOOD.

    I don't like butternut squash.
    However, I like the acorn.
And calabaza squash is the one that I grew up eating in my native Caribbean country.
I would never add any sweetener to squash as it is catby enough for my healthy lifestyle.

Shalom dear! I've grown my own squashes previously at my community farm in Chicago and they're Native American. One of the main squashes I'm growing is the historic Striped Maycock from the legendary food historian and author William Woys Weaver of Roughwood Seed in Philadelphia. I'm glad I've learned a lot of American food history from him since he's one of the keepers and protectors of Native American crops from the eastern woodlands of America. I'll send you all some if you're interested. Ha-Mashiach (Christ) bless you forevermore!

@@rexracer7192 my son gave me a mash recipe, peel, chop in cubes and coat with olive oil, bake 350 until soft but keep turning so they don’t burn.! Then add to a bowl with real butter, a little crushed garlic, salt, and start mashing, add a little milk too and nutmeg if you like. ( I’m not huge on nutmeg) but this taste so good, I couldn’t believe it! It’s very meaty and the baking of the butternut squash is the trick, don’t burn or overcook it though, so turn it every 4-5 minutes until soft. My garden is producing tons of these and so easily, this is my first year growing.
