The combo system in this game is crazy. Even Zangief has great combos in this thing.
It's basically just KOF which allows comboing into command grabs.
Did ANY of the people in this comments section watch the video? He isn't covering the Arcade/Dreamcast game, or the Neo Geo game, he's covering the Neo Geo Pocket Color game! He already covered the other games in his last few videos!
this game is super polished, charming graphics and music, amazing gameplay and responsive controls, and loaded with content. I personally love this style of chibi art.
As one of twelve Americans that own this gem, MotM was EXTREMELY underappreciated and feature-rich and the best portable fighting game that existed up until 3DS fighters like Super SF IV and Tekken Prime. It wouldn't be matched in the crossover games until CvS2, imo.
The control lag in the current Steam version does NOT do it justice at all.

The lag seems fixed I’ve even tried it docked from my steam deck to a 4K tv with a series and a ps4 controller.
We need another SNK vs. Capcom or Capcom vs. SNK game a lot.
Some made a mugen version of this game and it’s actually really good 👍🏾

I just gave my nephew my neo Geo pocket color this game and the capcom version of the card fighting game, he said that each game was worth 150 dollars and I said you're collecting video game like I was when I was younger. Save your money, I'll give you what I have after I'm done playing now I'm playing bothe megaman legend and dino crisis games for ps1
Something else to note, this game also made use of the Neo Geo Pocket/Dreamcast Setsuzoku Cable. Players could transfer points gained from Olympic mode to either Capcom vs. SNK: Millennium Fight 2000, or King of Fighters: Dream Match 1999. As an added bonus, the first-time players link to Capcom's crossover title, all characters would be unlocked in Match of the Millenium, rewarding players who were patient enough to wait for the game on Sega's home console.
This game is so nice, I BOUGHT IT TWICE! ...because I thought I lost it during my time in the hospital, only to find it after I bought my second copy.
What a great little game, especially with a link cable (for two player)!
Another silly little use was the music playback option, good for listening to your favorite themes while driving a car or something.
The mini-games were a bit of a tease ... they were good enough that you really wish for something a little bit more.
I wish I had gotten a Neo Geo Pocket. I hope this gets a re-release so more people can experience it.
It did get a rerelease! It's on Switch and PC!

MotM is one of my favorite NeoGeo Pocket Color games, second only to SNK Gals Fighters, and with KoFR2 in the third spot. They did something absosmurfinlutely wild: Evil Ryu has an additional Lv2 Super you can unlock through Olympic Mode, the Metsu Hadou-ken. It's basically the bigass blue beam of beatdown that was the XvSF/MSHvSF/MvC1-UMvC3 Shinkuu Hadou-ken/Messatsu-gou-hadou.
I've had my NGPC for 21 years now...yes you read that correctly. To celebrate this video, a couple minutes before typing this comment I just slapped in some fresh AA batteries and a new CR2032 battery for memory. Took a couple power cycles to read the SVC cartridge properly but IT STILL MOTHERFUCKING WORKS
I still play this on my NGPC as well as SVC Chaos on my AES. Love them.
Pocket Color Trivia - while weaker in sales than gameboy, it was actually making money. It got scrapped not because of being a loss, but SNKs getting new management that wanted to change focus
Someone made a mod of this game where they kept the same aspects of it but added character voices and better SFX. It's still in beta though. You can even download the demo. Later on there's supposed to be more characters and improved game mechanics.
I loved this game on dreamcast. Surpringly like the the neo geo pocket version better. It deserves way more attention. It's on the switch at least.
The Dreamcast game and Neo Geo Pocket Color game are different games. The Neo Geo Pocket Color game was what he covered in this video. He covered the others in his last few videos.

i had this on my neo geo pocket and played the death out of it. Obviosuly cut down but the graphics were cute and well realised. Most importantly it played like the real thing and with a fully functioning joystick. All this years before the PSP. (which i now use for most of my retrostuff on the go). Match of the Millenium is a classic!

Imagine a CPS2 arcade version of this game.
The game would be far more addictive than the SF Alpha series.
I like the adorable sprite work.
My only issue is how grindy the game is.
You need to play the story mode multiple times just to unlock a few characters.
at least it's a reward to actually playing the game and not buy DLC like these days
I unlocked everything in the Switch port. Took like a year or two of off and on play. It was hell, but I love the game so much that I did it anyways!
Lol it's called replayability. I used to do the same when they offered outfits on dead or alive. So satisfying!

I absolutely love SNK v Capcom for the NGPC though. One of the reasons I got a NGPC back then.

@@KaitouKaiju yes, but it looks and plays as if it came out couple decades before it. Very stiff and archaic even for an SNK fighter for me.
What graphics did you expect on the console? It was more graphically impressive and far better (control wise) than anything released by the competition at the time.
I know SNK were going bankrupt, but this is the worst fighting game I ever played.
this was one of the best handheld fighters before handhelds caught up w/ tech to be able to play arcade perfectish fighters.
