I have a feeling he’s responsible for a lot more victims.
I would be surprised if there weren't children
Seems likely. You never really know, even when they admit how many they've killed. They lie for fun. It helps alleviate their pervasive boredom.
@susanlee8609 well there was a 3yo found at his place he liked to leave bodies. It looks like he took a woman while she had her baby with her.
@leth2753 exactly, other people don't mean anything to these people. They view others the way a lot of people feel about cows, like their life's don't mean anything, they are just there to kill because they arnt on the same level. Something is weird with the girl that set this whole thing off. They don't think she was killed by him, so.ethi gs weird with it though.
@44LillPuffin Toddler was found buried at the beach with his mother buried a couple of miles away.
He isn't the suspect in Shannan Gilbert's murder?
Roommate of Amber Costello had given all the clues of the killer way back in 2012. So many years passed unnecessarily
I am like... 90% certain that guy was her pimp. Thats what he was referred to as in earlier articles but they stopped saying it recently when he is discussed.
Clarification:
The guy who gave the tip is her pimp is who i am referring to
The police dept sarg wast corrupt..that's why it wasn't solved earlier
@bksundar ---
The question should be: Why?
Feel really bad for that guy! He may testify at trial here!
@@Jenn_80
I don’t think it was a pimp as he is always referred to as her roommate!
The reality that you could live next to someone who has killed multiple people for many years is so unsettling. It proves that you never really know people. Everyone has their secrets and skeletons in their closets, but some have unbelievably dark secrets. I don’t trust anyone other than the closest people to me who I’ve known for decades. I’m super skeptical of anyone else and keep them at arm’s length because I have been hurt by people that I genuinely believed were good, only to find out they were despicable.
Amen to that, sister!
It’s so weird this guy lived around the block from me for over 25 years.😱
Wise , can't be too careful
It means you are an exceptional good person, too good to socialize with your neighbors.
Some of those skeletons in the closet are actual skeletons!!
It is almost mind blowing how these well known cases go unsolved for years just for their killers to be brought to justice in old age. He deserved to suffer 10 years ago!!!!
Because of the location makes it difficult to profile potential suspects. If it is a poor neighborhood the police doesn’t care about profiling.
Lol this case is still no where near being solved…
At 59 years old there’s no way he only killed 3 ppl
why is that space cadet?
@@A7X062388 Most serial killers kill until they get caught..the fact that the 3 he is linked to happened over a decade ago makes it hard to believe he hasn't killed since/before then. The chances of him deciding to kill 3 victims at the age of 40 and that's all, are slim to none. If I had to guess I'd assume he switched up what he did with the bodies and they probably haven't been discovered yet.
@@zees2449There’s no evidence that supports that theory. Many serial killers go unidentified and it is impossible to say that “most serial killers kill until they get caught” when that undoubtedly has not been proven whatsoever.
@@OverlyIntoxicated I meant most serial killers that have been caught either killed til they were caught or stopped cause they got too old to continue doing it and later were caught once DNA tech evolved. Just saying it's unlikely in my opinion that they were his only 3 victims is all 🤷♂️
I agree that such a person would have tried more than 3 times, but maybe he was a pathetic mess up who couldnt do much right.
He definitely killed Maureen too. It wasnt a coincidence she was also wrapped in burlap right next to 3 other victims that had the same profession.
Most important thing said here is Police 'tries to be transparent'. Sadly with some proper initial Police work this sick killer could have been captured 12 years ago. The doll element to this case is very creepy. Also curious how dusty and dirty the items are coming out of the house
They have been at it though haven't they? They have had suspects before.
His wife is from another country. The doll is supposedly a traditional antique doll from her home country.
@@timetheory84 yeah that and the burner phone evidence coupled with the fake email accounts
Then why dont you go catch some killers space cadet? I mean, since yo uare so smart and good at it lmfao shut up
Funny how you shithouse detectives sit there and blame police. Because if it was you. You would’ve had him in 10 minutes. Unfortunately they have to build cases and actually find the right guy. Not just say “We got him.” Go back and get your criminal justice degree and do it better. Hunches don’t work.
There are victims in Connecticut as well. Numerous womens bodies wrapped in burlap were found dumped along Connecticuts Rt.8 in the 1990s. A quick trip on the Port Jefferson to Bridgeport Ferry puts this guy on a direct line to those bodies, too. When the scrutiny got too much in the newspapers, he just changed his dumping ground to a more local and familiar spot. There was an interview with one escort/potential victim who got away. Where did he meet her? At a restaurant in Port Jefferson, right where the ferry is!
Like this interview says, i think its unlikely that anyone was killed in the house, more likely that he killed them in his car, close to the dumping points. This guy was never very careful to hide anything, he was almost daring someone to catch him, it was a thrilling cat and mouse game for him. And theres nothing very strange about gun collections. He was playing "true crime" from the inside. Having said that, yeah he could have been caught alot sooner. No serious investigation was attempted until the New York bodies showed up.
Possibly 4 victims in Atlantic City as well.
I think its unlikely he killed them in his car.....that makes no sense it would be to easy for victims to fight back and other things to escape him or the car to much variables for victims to escape or cause a mess in car via blood dna hair
But they had no leads. They only got his dna sample from a salad bowl or something😂 and im not sure was they suspecting him already then or why did they try to get his dna sample already before they connected the dna to the murders
I like this guy. He focused on facts and minimized the speculations. I’m going to look to see if he has a podcast.

Suffolk police could’ve solved this in 13 days many years ago. Instead let the killer loose for 13 years.
Thank former Chief of Police, James Burke, who blocked the FBI from helping for fear they would uncover his corrupt behavior
Here in Austin, the police didn't catch the local head of Vice running his own escort agency and using his office to destroy competitors until he literally charged the police department to fly a couple of his girls to Vegas to work. THEN somebody blew the whistle.
They have to be soft on crime. Bidens endorsed DA will destroy them if they arent. Enjoy the outcome!
I personally believe this man has been killing people for years. Even prior to the poor girls who were found dead near the beach. Unfortunately, I think there will be many more victims that will be found in time. This man is extremely sick. I hope he confesses to everyone he has killed but there is something about his ego that wouldn’t allow him to tell the complete truth.
I don't know why people call these monsters sick. Perhaps it is easier to think of people as sock and not evil. They are plain evil. He was interviewed a while ago and was totally lucid and normal. I watched the video. He is not sick or crazy.

He bought up the conversation to her about the murders said their were ten adults and one child murderered.
She rang a friend to get out of the situation as her gut instinct was warning her get out.
She is seems genuine and is informing the police.
Wow, this info has profoundly changed my life...
Did she go to the police at that time?
He didn't just start killing in his 40s. I'm sure he has been killing since his 20s. They talk about his victims and how their murders are similar to each other so they look at other unsolved murders done similar to the 3 he is being charged for. I disagree with this. My thoughts are when a serial killer starts murdering his first couple is the start of this gross power obsession, and they just act on a desire they have at that moment . They don't have confidence in what they are doing yet. So I belive after the first couple of times they murder is when they develop their way of committing murders and each one after done they same way to form their signature on their crimes. Their confidence has to come after they have done the act a few times and gotten away with it.
im sure you know it all space cadet
What's to say he didn't start killing since his teens or even earlier? Being As large as he is, he could have taken on kids several years older than he was, like by the time he was in 6th grade he could have taken on even some highschoolers. They need to investigate any suspicious deaths/missing people cases during his childhood years asap! For all we know he was killing since he was in diapers! 👶🍼🤬😈☠️☠️

Bingo!!!! 💥💥
Did you say "competent"?? EXACTLY!! 👏
They were given this infomration back in 2013. They were given the man's physical description, the make, model and year of his vehicle AND the license plate number. It wasn't exactly rocket science to FIND THIS MAN. What was difficult was linking hin to the case.
They should have done this back in 2013. The Suffolk County DA (from back then) is still in prison today, and the criminally charged Suffolk County Polish Commissioner already served his time and has been released. THAT is why this wasn't solved a decade ago.
@@le_th_ Then what for his information was given ? 😮😮😮
The police didn’t care about them? That’s just ridiculous the lead guy in charge was being investigated by the feds for being an inmate really bad and he decided he didn’t want to work with them that’s why it took sooo long not because the police didn’t care...
And there's seven more bodies that were found in the same area that need justice also. Which boggles the mind....did two killers help each other kill 11 people and bury them in the same place? Did two killers work separately without knowledge of the other one...but somehow ended up burying their victims not far from where the other killer did?
Very, very bizarre...but I hope ALL eleven victims as I said get their due justice. But I am so glad this monster was captured and I would find it hard to believe that he has only killed 4 women. He killed all four women....LE is getting irrefutable proof of the fourth one. Even if they don't find victims in his yards at his other two homes in Las Vegas and Chester,SC ...which is one county over from me.....he likely has buried them in another place in the areas. His tall big build is intimidating by itself and his arrogance and narcissism and his twisted and beyond sickening mind are a deadly combination.
His computer searches are extremely disturbing and hair raising and what he searched for about teens and a ten year old girl are very alarming and unsettling. Has he killed teens also and very young girls as well? I certainly hope not but if he has along with the four known victims, this monster certainly is deserving of a death sentence carried out immediately.
Pure f'n evil is what he is.

Speculation: None of the guns were used in any murders. Early reports said the house was very cluttered like the house of a hoarder. He had a collecting / hoarding obsession and it happened to include guns. The vault makes sense in that he had a special needs adult stepson so they were kept away from him. I'm not saying he is responsible or anything, just that its very likely this had nothing to do with his other activity.
Yeah the media wanted to make it seem like another murderous gun nut or something lmfao its so sad how the media is just as evil as the killers
Yes i agree, none of these items are anything to be alarmed of or relevent, like you said speculation👍...
None of the guns were used in any murders. He was a hoarder in general.
It’s not really speculation. None of the victims had any injuries pertaining to a firearm.
This wont stop disgusting media talking heads from trying to make this about the evil guns though. They serve a different master than truth. If a person owned 10 guns, but killed 20 people with a hammer, their financiers and masters (pay daddies) would demand they make him a gun nut murderer. Their word is gospel to pathetically ignorant people. That is 60% of humans these days.

I think it likely that one or more women were killed or dismembered in the house. We know the wife and family were out of state or out of the home when several women were killed and I feel certain he would have taken one or more home to kill or dismember. Open the garage and haul out the victim dead or alive. It was near to the dump site and represented minimum exposure to the law. If that's the case it's very likely there will be blood evidence in the home.
I agree. Neighbors would notice someone walking through the front door, but what about the garage?
The problem with modern America is that people with a 65 IQ think they are experts after watching Dexter or Cold Case Files. He killed hookers, who are willing to go to alleys and out of the way places. Please rationalize any instance here he would take one of these girls to his home? Maybe the ones he didnt kill serviced him there.... but defies criminal psychology and reason to think he had to bring the ones he killed there.
What a monster, can't imagine what those poor girls went thru. They didn't have a chance against that huge orge.
He has definitely been killing for many years. Serial killers do not start so late in life. He probably started in his late twenties/:early thirties, plus comitted other crimes against women beforehand. I have followed this case since the beginning, I am pleased he has been caught. It's very unsettling to know that these lunatics exist and some do get away with it for so long. There is no way of knowing who these killers are as so many just fit into society or the 'social norms' which is pretty scary.
I love hearing these B.S claims like “serial killers dont start killing later in life!” and “once a serial killer starts, they never stop!”
Lol there is zero evidence to back up this conspiracy theory. It’s just that, a theory. You have zero clue, literally zero clue as to how this man lived his life. None of us do.
13 years to follow up on a ridiculously solid tip?
Have you not been paying any attention at all? They had a corrupt police chief, who didn’t want the FBI nosing around in his department.
2:45 Because it would be awesome? When I was a kid fantasizing about the house I wanted when I grew up, there were like three or four things that I really wanted in my “dream house”: A secret door, disguised as a bookshelf or false wall, that hid a secret passage which lead to a vertical shaft with a ladder or a spiral staircase that went underground to either a big bank vault-like door that secured a bomb shelter/man cave kind of room or a bomb shelter that contained a walk-in vault built into the wall. Given how the reality of a little thing in the adult world called “building expenses” really rained on that parade, the vault door, although relatively expensive, is still pretty financially obtainable. If Heuermann's house already had a bomb shelter/safe room or even just a small spare room in the basement, it wouldn’t be difficult or expensive to install a vault door on it and call it a vault. Knowing the police, their “walk-in vault” is probably just a normal bedroom with a metal door and deadbolt or something. But, if I ever get my hands on an old vault door for a decent price, you best believe one of the bedrooms in my basement is getting turned into a vault because it would be awesome…
Settle down creep.....lol

You have a gut feeling police were avoiding getting to the bottom of this case from the very beginning? Oh, congratulations on having a gut feeling about what’s been reported since the case broke open.
It’s widely reported that the prior police chief kicked the FBI out because he was worried about what they would find regarding his corruption, and that severely hampered the investigation. FBI brought back in, and they quickly zeroed in on a suspect.
Most serial killers act alone - the dual killers always get caught quicker...
I’m glad the investigators aren’t hiding things as they bring them out because the public is very likely to see things online and make a real connection that could break the case open.

Im so happy with use of the victims names, idc what they did for a living they didnt ask for this monster to do what he did and we dont even know the amount of women, men or children he killed
Not yet !
Dig up the floor in the soundproof gun room. What is under that concrete!
He lived 20 minutes drive from Gilgo beach. Additionally he lived about 5 minutes drive from Amityville, famous for the murder of six people in 1974, and later claims of haunting at that house, and following book and movie. I wonder how long it will be before a Gilgo beach movie?
so what are the 3 shocking discoveries???
What's shocking is how long it took them to catch him, even with an ignored sighting and tip, and how corrupt the LI LE and govt. are. And NYC.
The cage worries me.
its not a vault lol!! its a storm door for a basement
I have the same one, along with a few guns, and maybe even a couple stuffed animals in the attic....mmmmm😊
I don’t think he stopped since they found those bodies back in 2010.
I think there is a good chance he stopped. Coz he likely didn’t kill anyone or attempt to kill for the last 18 months during which he was being monitored.
There was probably a hidden room accessed from the vault.
@@Plutogalaxy😁
I keep wondering what kind of relationship did the wife & husband have? She couldn’t detect any unusual behavior. He definitely encouraged her to leave the house.
Having a gun collection behind a vault is not a red flag. Many people in the United States have collections of that size, and often times bigger.
deranged psychopaths take offense to this and their billionaire pay daddies demand they label this as extreme and morally reprehensible. A good citizen goose steps properly, dont ya know?!?!
He left time out dolls at memorials to basically rub it in families noses that death was their punishment for being prostitutes or punishment for trying to rip him off. And people missed that back handed insult because on surface it looked innocent
I have a sick feeling about the little girl who ripped him Rex must have offered her bigger money and the pimp boyfriend should have not let her go with Rex but he wanted his $ so sad
Time out dolls? Please illuminate me. TY.
@@KohalaLover Google time out dolls. They are little dolls in time out. i never heard about them until this case.

I reckon he's been killing for decades
I agree with u. It’s no way these are his only ones. Especially knowing he has property down south

I'd say the painting indicates something is wrong. I've painted all my life basically. As a rule of thumb, you paint what you love, you portray or photograph what you love. This might not be proof. But it indicates a general acceptance. Officer! Arrest him!
Police could have prevented so many killings if they had just done their jobs. Those cops should be questioned and charged. They had a reliable witness over a decade ago. Where is the accountability?
Maybe pay attention to the case, and you would have the answer to that - the person in charge has served several years in the federal system for trying to cover up his own bad acts
Ckickbait. Nothing new here.
This could be one of the if not the biggest case of the decade or quarter of a century
It looks like they removed everything from the house. I mean, they couldn't have listed all that in the search warrant. What if the wife gave them permission to take anything they wanted? Does that abrogate the search warrant?
the list isn't necessarily limited to known things. it's usually encompasses the whole house and/or other properties.
I wonder if that's relevant with her filing for divorce?
All the guns are not really of interest imo. Yeah, its a lot. Too many. Not concerned about that, though. My grandpa had a massive gun collection in safes too. This coward likes to strangle small women
Exactly. And possibly children. We will see.
Yea no obsession with violence and death there at all 🙄
@@relentlesseducatorowning guns does not make you obsessed with violence "Professor "
Law&Crime please stop trying to milk this case!! Your just coming up with all kinds of random speculations at this point for views. Literally reporting the same info over and over. Smdh
So there’s items not listed in the search that they just have to walk past? If there’s suspicious “items” are they legally allowed to take them?
I agree with this man. He sounds sensible.
They should confiscate all those properties that he owns
Hopefully in the future these monsters who were so close to being caught, the police will follow up stronger.
So no1 is questioning how for 15yrs they could not solve the case and here comes in a new chief and the case is instantly solved?
This has been discussed extensively, so what are you talking about?
Everyone has questioned it and everybody has received an answer, that’s why nobody is questioning it anymore LOL. Chief James Burke was arrested in 2016. And the cases was solved by the formation of a task force by the new Commissioner, not a new chief.
Where are the former judge and the driver that were identified on Shannon’s 911 call ? ?? 🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩
They were brought in for interrogation and came clean.
If Rex Heuermann is the killer, after the bodies were discovered he most likely really cleaned up if he had and trophies, mementos etc. He had plenty of notice to get rid of anything that may implicate him.
Yeah, maybe when the neighbor heard him digging at night, he was actually digging stuff up to get rid of it.
@@susanlee8609 also his mo was to dump the bodies. I didnt expect them to find bodies there.

he wanted too take one lady back too his house but she didn’t want too and asked too meet him in a mutual space and then he started talking about gilgo too her and she was very uneasy so didn’t go back too his house, she told her friend and showed her a photo of him then years later today. He’s arrested and her friend said it does look like him who you showed me, so if he was going too take her too his house (lucky she didn’t) his wife’s hair could of got on a victim if he took that person too his home, his neighbour has also said he dogged in the garden at silly hours. If you look up theirs a video on CZcams of the ex s worker telling all she said happened
It's one thing to plead innocent in one murder. But they got him on three so far with evidence. Evidence enough to get an arrest warrent.
Physical evidence! Not circumstantial like his lawyer said.
@@crystalhatter889 hummmm interesting
They say they got evidence. They're setting him up because he saw something. James Burke who was the head of the police, and his associates, were responsible for this. There were a lot of "Long Island serial killers" while James Burke lived there.
That many guns is a nothing burger. Many could have been inhereted from his dad, grandfather, uncles, etc.
They should conduct a 50 State investigation regarding this psycho!
We’ve known about the guns. This isn’t new information.
Case is 2 weeks old?? “Been known” lol
That dirty chief has blood on his hands
Yes, Suffolk County chief of police James Burke
I agree the router will be of interest to expand the investigation, but no one has the same router they had a decade ago, so it isn’t going to help the current case, unless I’m missing something.
I've had the same router since Oct 2014. It's not 10 years yet, but close...
I have the same underwear on from then....
The doll could be his wife or daughters. I don't think it is a big deal personally.
I still want to know why the medical examiner was called to the storage place after they started searching
Probably because they found something that they weren’t sure was human remains or not. Im guessing it wasn’t remains, because the media would have found that out relatively quickly.
I've been asking the same question. Maybe they found something and made sure to keep it from being leaked to the media.
We will find out eventually. Everything has to be catalogued, analyzed and tested. It takes time.
I’ve collected Madame Alexander dolls for many years and I keep them behind glass so as to protect them from dust and the environment … that said I just don’t see why it’s such a big deal for their finding a glass-enclosed doll.
I think it’s not creepy if it was a normal person. A creepy guy who’s a serial killer having dolls in glass just ups his creep factor.
@@miss__atomic__bombthey probably left by his mother he had them in storage cuz he’s not attached to them but guilt kept him from throwing them out
They didn’t find anything in that yard if they did they would have called in a medical examiner
@joanbaczek2575 I heard on one news outlet that there was a medical examiner at the store unit
I’m thinking the doll belonged to his mother and may have some sentimental value, so he kept it for his daughter. Not a big deal. As for the vault, he stored his guns there. It sounds like it was more secure than necessary, but if I had a young adult “special needs” son I would be very careful about storing guns in my house. The Sandy Hook killer was an autistic young male.
I wonder if Rex was visiting dumping sites of girls when Shannon ran into marsh n he silenced her he lived less than 6 miles where the girls were dumped
That’s a stretch if I’ve ever seen one.
Thankyou 🦘
Such a shame! Justice is finally here.
How did he come to be a suspect? So curious as to what brought the police to him!
He didn't use incognito mode and didn't eat the crust of pizzas.
6’5” 300 lb beast that drove an avalanche. Phone pings. And dna. Was easy once they investigated deeper.
What I gathered was that when they formed the task force they came across the witness description, I think by Mike, who was Shannon Gilbert's pimp amd driver, of an ogre like big guy with dark bushy hair and driving an Avalance, and used that with cell phone data to zone in on his neighborhood, then found the Avalance.
