- Police rushed to the home of a Georgia family after a woman called 911 and said her children were trying to kill her. When law enforcement arrived, Yvonne and Zachary Ervin were greatly injured inside their home which was full of blood and broken furniture. It appeared the home's gas line was tampered with in an attempt to blow up the residence. Yvonne told police her sons, Christopher and Cameron, had drugged them and attacked them. The brothers were immediately arrested when officers arrived - one was found in the bathroom and the other outside the home. When Christopher and Cameron Ervin were brought to be interrogated, things began to take a turn as one of them began confessing to every detail while the other stuck to the cover-up story. I feel SO fortunate, I was adopted and raised by two people who loved me, gave me all the attention I needed and never abused me. I'm 58 and my Dad lived until he was 89,.. Mom is 92 and healthy still. When I see things like this, I think to myself... "I won my lottery Years ago"...
I can totally relate to you. I too was adopted at 22mos, my parents are the best people in the world. My father just died this last November, he too was 89. My mother just turned 89 last month and me and my siblings do everything we can do to be there for her. I love how you said you already won the lottery years ago. That's the perfect way to describe it.

You are so lucky, I’m jealous. I grew up with a drug addicted alcoholic mother, no father. At 13 my mom had brain cancer and surgery. What I ended up with was a crazy person I didn’t recognize. Basically, I parented myself all my life. Of course I ended up an addict myself until I got clean. When I had my own children I decided I would do the exact opposite of everything my mom did. My 3 boys are adults now and they’re all wonderful young men. Knowing what I know now I cannot understand why my mother didn’t love and cherish me like I love and cherish my kids. They are my everything. Why couldn’t I be my mom’s everything? Sad, huh.

They were good, hardworking, and smart kids with hardworking invested parents who cared enough to see them succeed in life. However, the pressure tgey placed on them to do this qas too much that they just snapped. That does happen unfortunately when some kids feel too pressed. My dad was a bully. I left home aged 17, paid my way through Uni at 26yrs old. I am perplexed. Not all of us were blessed with decent parents, but hell, get on with it and make good in your life, for yourself.
Problem is that some kids think ALL other kids got it better and feel like they should have what those kids allegedly got. Further thinking that mom and dad are the ones that should be giving it to them. I had no family support when I went away to college at age 17. But I never returned home to live, I visited every so often. Even when things were difficult, I didn't call home asking for anything. 37 years later I am very proud of making a pretty descent life for myself and not relying on my family to put me over. Some things ya just can't dmn do!

Working 80 hours bi weekly at a full time job making minimum wage back then could not buy you a house in any community. If it could , I will get my popcorn and wait for you to give me that story. A mobile home is what it MIGHT get, and a mobile home is a declining automotive asset. Today the minimum wage is 7.25, in some places, 8.25 in others, with it supposedly being 15$ by 2025 or sumthin. Same buying power as in 1987. Today, you MIGHT be able to buy a mobile home. The point I'm trying to make, no matter how much people believe that outside forces have prevented them from doing whatever, no problems are going to be solved by bichn at anyone. I only made the statement of I had to work just like the original poster of the comment. nobody helped me, nobody offered either. It didn't help me to be bichn about they should have. I struggled a lot. There were just as many people back then unable to buy homes as there are now.

Imagine venting to the detectives because u think being honest will help you only to find out they used that statement to charge you with as many crimes as possible. Officers are never your friend or care about how bad it was for you while growing up.

In this case, though, they (the brothers) may have done themselves a favor by talking and emoting spontaneously w/o an attorney. And I'm not saying this is often a good idea. But I think their parents' subsequent empathy helped mitigate the sentencing and perhaps have an impact on parole date.

@simonecherry He grew up in a no nonsense upper middle class black American household that was pushing them to work hard for it. The younger generation is soft they get too many outside influences. My parents always told me if I don't like the rules get your own place make your own rules. If I raised my hand to them they have the right to take me out of this world. Boys have differences with their fathers understood. When he attacked his mother I lost it just listening. I know the Bible speaks about forgiveness but under the Law them kids would of been stoned to death. I wouldn't trust them. When they come home they had 15 years to plot a new plan. You won't get a 2nd time.

Turns out, as always it was used against them. They could have shared this in court but perhaps they wouldn’t have felt safe to do so with their parents there.
I believe these boys need to be nurtured and supported with trauma informed therapy, not locked up for two decades.

I disagree. Once you are an adult your are responsible for your own actions, including your finances. Your parents have completed their job. Parents are not life long hostages to their grown up children's decision making.

This is tragic but I’ve learned a long time ago that you never really know what goes on in families unless you’re apart of said family. My mother looked perfect from the outside. She was mentally and physically abusive to me behind closed doors. I’m just glad no one died in this case and some peace is found for all of them.

I stand 6'5" and was a physically in top shape muscular guy, but the thought of putting my hands on my parents never, not one time crossed my mind. I couldn't stand my Dad at one point, but all i did was get out of his house and i joined the military. My Dad is only 6 feet tall and nowhere near as muscular as me, but still i couldn't even bring myself to putting my hands on my parents. When they get on my nerves, i just get away from them.

@@cand33cane that is very true. 🤔 I didn’t want to shame the parents but honestly, a full psychological mental health assessment of them is crucial to understanding why & how BOTH kids got to that point. I’m sure 1 brother was more dominant & devised the plan but both were definitely disturbed.

Pressure bust pipes, these young men was out of line for attacking their parents. But I’ve seen this with another kid who shot his dad because of the constant pressure of handling life independently. Just because your child is of legal age doesn’t mean your job is done. Some people can get it without much instruction while other young people could use a little patience! Idk, this whole situation is sad and scary!
This brought tears to my eyes. However, there's a lot MORE to this story than what we are seeing or hearing. The parents say that they forgive their son and they visit them on a regular basis. For those young men to do what they did, it is more to the story. I pray that when they do get out of prison, they CONTINUE to LOVE EACH other, and whatever is going on inside their home that it gets better. ❤❤❤❤

They mentally abused them, they didn’t do what their parents wanted them to do - play football, go to a particular college, not be in the band - and by the boys doing what they wanted, the neglect, the coldness and unwanted feelings came into their lives. It’s sad when your parents make you feel like that; I know how that feels. I never done it said anything about it, but it does hurt. Mom seems like she was a silent partner because the dad was overbearing and if things didn’t go his way - they all caught hell. I hate the boys made a decision to do that; but everyone has a breaking point and they’d gotten to it.
I hope the family can mend their relationship and possibly start over. 🙏🏽prayers for them.

This was the most emotional crime interviews I’ve ever seen. I’ve never had such empathy for the perpetrators. They appeared to be grown men but were really only children still. Unless you’ve experienced parental abuse on any level, even overly cold or strict parents, it’s impossible to understand. I’m so glad the parents survived but I really wish the boys and the parents got help, counseling, rather than 10 yrs in prison. And all those extra charges… come on…. But I’m sure they all (including the parents) learnt big lessons.

I never heard them say that they had no food or was homeless, beaten or abused. As they matured and got out into the world and had their own children they would have understood their parents journey. Alot of young black men are being coddled like little girls. They are not building a foundation for their families instead they are looking for someone to take care of them. You have to prepare your children to survive and prosper in this world especially young black men. Look at these two young men who had no respect for their parents Sacrifices to give them a good life. Who is there supporting them right now their parents even though they tried to kill them because they couldn't get their way. Even with all the pain , embrassment and disappointment those parents are still there trying to support them. They're was a time when children understand their parents struggle in life and supported and respected their parents Sacrifices. We need to quit making up excuses for kids these days who want to make grown-up decisions but want none of the responsibilities. Most of them are adults still living at home and their parents are taking care of them and their children. You heard parents talking about it all the time. They're working into their eighties and can barely walk trying to take care of grown self serving adults.

Why are you assuming he never did? He clearly says at mark 19:00 both brothers were meant to be out of the house for the Navy and the youngest, soonest he graduated. He seems very protective of his younger brother - he keeps saying “we did this … we did that”, while the younger brother takes full responsibility, saying “I stabbed my father … I poured gas all over the house” , suggesting the older is covering for him. How do you know he never left because he didn’t want to leave his younger brother with his parents? He clearly says at the start of the interview, his father had started physically abusing his younger brother - slapping him etc. - and, in the interview with the younger brother, the younger brother says the older was constantly in the habit of breaking them apart when physical fights between the two of them escalated. Didn’t the older brother say, at the start of the interview, the younger brother fled home for weeks after a physical altercation with his father?
Did we watch the same interview? We shouldn’t always draw conclusions so rapidly and be quick to condemn people because we will never know the complete truth of what happened, only the people who were actually there. I’m inclined to believe these parents are not at all innocent also and created an emotionally toxic home for their children.

I know the younger one and when this happened SHOCKED wasn’t a good enough descriptor for how I felt. He had always presented himself as a cordial and polite young man. I had even dropped him off after his last prom (I was a teacher at the high school) as the parents did the after prom party at their house to provide a safe place for the students. This was just heartbreaking.

That dispatcher needs some hearing aids. This woman fighting for her life has to repeat herself multiple times, and she’s very calm nearly going unconscious, and this dispatcher keeps getting her to repeat what she just said clearly
The dispatcher was trying to keep her on the line. She already called for the police early in the call and they were on their way to the home. She had to keep mom on the phone

have to remember these audios are probably remastered for us to hear them well on these videos, I doubt its the same quality audio in the dispatcher's ear in real time, & we also have the words captioned for us to read along... perhaps she really couldn't make out what she was saying
She’s trained to keep the caller talking & on the phone. Help has already been dispatched within seconds of that call. The only way that dispatcher can assess an unseen situation, is ask as many questions as you can, also very importantly, all those questions helps them determine how safe that scene is. Also repeating questions will help keep the caller calm as they’re waiting for the help that’s on the way. I know it sounds & seems so inhumane at such a tense & crucial time, but the longer they can keep that victim that’s fighting for their life talking & answering questions, it could very well lots of times, be the very thing that keeps that victim fighting & hanging in there until paramedics & cops reach that destination.
