  • We listen to the McIntosh Mc1201 monoblock amplifiers made until 2006. How do they fare? Are they any good?

Great video guys! Id love to hear what you guys think about mono amps like the 1201 Monos compared to the PS Audio BHK 300 Monos.

I think Jay could use articulation lessons from Vilip. Perhaps Vilip can put down a script for Jay's channel as well. Mr. Miyagi...

I have enjoyed your recent McIntosh videos. Thanks. I would like to hear your opinions on the more pedestrian, quasi-lifestyle components. Specifically the MAC7200 receiver , MA5300 integrated, and XR50 speakers..

@@adrianlow2114 Thanks. I have 2 McIntosh dealers in my area (Raleigh, NC). Neither stock the XR50. Too bad the XR50 doesn't get more attention.

Curious if your client Richard still has those Genesis ones that were driven by the mcintosh 1201s . That would be a cool follow up video if your client was up to it. Not many Pairs of those are out there . Be a cool video showing off a system that not many can afford or even have room for. Thanks Adrian, Jay and Philip.

Could you maybe do a comparison between Mc C1100 and AR Ref6SE ? Also I would like to hear your opinions about the T+A PA3100HV. and Linn Klimax DSM Katalyst. Keep up the good work, great videos so far👍

I like the mcintosh ma9000 integrated better than any mcintosh monoblock with any mcintosh preamp. Yes, you miss out on a little bit of control and power, but the integration/balance/purity is better when everything is in 1 box with Mcintosh (my opinion). Then you can't hear the negotiation in form of distance/extended signal in form of cables and units.
Plus the power with the ma9000, is more than enough to drive most speakers in a 30-70 square meter room. And most people only have about 25 anyway. (preamp, effect, DAC is then integrated, and no forreign cables have to come on top of the mcintosh sound.
I think it is much smarter.
Of course if you do it right, and have a top set of monoblocks from mcintosh and a top preamp from them, and the top mcintosh speaker, with a top separate CD/vinyl/DAC also from mcintosh with their cables, then yeah then it is like 3x better.
But I would never recommend just having a set of mcintosh mono blocks and then maybe a mcintosh preamp. To me, that is not good enough. It's either or, or else the sound feels like it is not running in the intended direction that Mcintosh wanted.
    Just my opinion.

Guys, the audio on your video is not good. Your voice sounds muffled with too much bass. Struggled to make out what you all were saying.
Can you do something about it?
