    Something really weired I noticed is that after a week or two of mindfulness breathing meditation my perception of time changed so that days felt longer, like they used to when I was a kid

    7 Common Forms of Meditation | Summary :
    1- Mindfullness Breathing Meditation : You are practicing your ability to observe your thoughts without judgment.
    Method : focus on the sensation of breathing, the feeling of air going in your nose and out of your mouth, and whenever a thought appears, you simply notice it, let it float away, and then you bring your attention back to your breathing.
    scientific category : Open Awarness Meditation : focus becoming aware of your thoughts and feelings.
    Benefits :
    - increase your levels of creativity. (Improve focus and memory.)
    - trains you to let go of your negative thoughts ; Preventing you overthinking and the negative side effects that come with it.
    - Reduce fixation on negative emotions.
    2- Meta Meditation : Loving Kindness Meditation
    Method : send love in several directions. Sending love towards yourself by repeating a predetermined phrase like ''May i be happy'' or ''May i be healthy'' in your head. Then to a friend, then to a stranger, then to someone you dislike, and finally to the universe as a whole.
    Benefits :
    - Increase Empathy
    - Reduce pain
    - Reduce negative emotions
    - Reduce depression and anxiety.
    - Help with PTSD (Post-traumatic stress disorder)
    - A research that suggests that it increase the amount of grey matter in your brain assosciated with emotional intelligence, which, it could mean that it can improve your social skills.
    This sort of meditation is good if you feel like you have a lot of hate or anger within you or others people.
    It may also be a good form of meditation if you've suffered of past traumas.
    3- Guided Meditation : From a coach, video or app that you're using.
    Benefits :
    - All benefits that other forms of meditation bring, BUT whih much less intensity (someone talking while you meditating).
    This sort of meditation is good if you tried other forms of meditation but felt like it was too difficult.
    4- Focused Attention Meditation : any sort of meditation where you focus on a particular stimulus of any kind like sound, sensation, visual : getting yourself to focus as much as possible on a single sensation.
    Benefits :
    - Researchers discovered that Focus Attention Meditation activates and strengthens a part of the brain that Open Awareness Meditation does not. : The Anterior Cingulate Cortex. : part of our brain used for detecting errors, overcoming impulses, and solving problems. Practicing this sort of meditation will help you to improve all of 3 of these things.
    This sort of meditation is good if you use meditation to excel in school or in your career as it trains your brain to find solutions to problems more effectively.
    Best form of meditation to practive when it comes to impulse control = overcome your addictions easier.
    Easier form of meditation to practice because you only need to done one things as compared to 2. (mindfulness breathing meditation + open awarness meditation). Better form of meditation to start with.
    5- Mantra Meditation : focus on repeating a phrase or a series of words over and over again.
    Best mantras are postively phrased.
    Benefits :
    - Reprogram the way you think and view yourself depending on the phrase you say.
    Example : I can achieve anything = you will start to feel more confident i your abilities whiich would cause you to take more action.
    This sort of meditation is good for anyone who are not looking to gain multiple benefits but rather to fix one specific problem. Because it allows you to pinpoint a specific problem that you have and fix it.
    6- Pranayama Meditation : Breath control meditation.
    Method : Controlling the pacing of your breathing.
    it taugh as a breathing exercise in the form of the 4/4/4/4. Breath in through your nose for 4 seconds. Hold your breath for 4 seconds. Exhale slowly for 4 seconds. And then hold for 4 seconds and then you repeat.
    Benefits :
    - Studies have shown that it lowers your blood pressure, reduce stress, help you fall asleep.
    - One of the only forms of meditation that have been shown to strengthen your lungs.
    This sort of meditation is good if you suffer from a lot of stress or anxiety. the box breathings is usually taugh not as a form of meditation but as a method used to calm people down. One of the easier form of meditation to practise because you are not focusing on being present or emptying your mind. You are simply focusing on breathing at a certain pace.
    7- Moving Meditation : focus on making some sort of movement. Like walking, doing chores, yoga, dancing.
    you focus on the physical changes and sensations that occur.
    Example : moving meditation while walking, your focus will be on the feeling of your feet touching the ground and pushing off and so on.
    Benefits :
    - Teaches you how to enter the flow state. such as dance, force you to be creative and present at the same time because you have to decide which movement you will make next. it is somethings that doesn't happen with any of the other forms of meditation.
    This sort of meditation is good if you have a hard time sitting still. Or maybe some health issues that prevent you from doing so or maybe you feel too jittery.
    You can practice this form of meditation with any movement. washing dishes and even taking a shower.

    The timing of this vid is immaculate, ive been trying to get back to meditating since quarantine started and every time i try i only last for like 2-3 days. This time i had the courage to start meditating again and its a good thing that i get to know 6 other ways so that i dont get bored and lose my meditation streak.     I have a hard time sitting still so I find guided meditations perfect since I have a hard time keeping myself grounded. I've been doing it for about a month though, so maybe I'm ready to graduate to a different form! Focused Attention Meditation seems perfect for my needs, thank you for the information :)

    It actually works best in tiny bursts. Actually one of the best places to do it is when brushing your teeth. The sound of your brushing carries through your jawbone and often drowns out a lot of thought.

    Hey Improvement pill,
    I watching your videos I feel that you are someone whom I should talk to.
    I think my problem is not the actual problem but i am so in it. I am 163cm tall, 24 years old man. I wear spects. I don't hate wearing them but i can't see clear without them and i feel bad about it, very much. And i also think i should wear braces for a good smile. When i laugh i hate how i look. These are the things I hate about myself. Knowing that there are no permanent solutions for my height and vision and I have to live with them my whole life tends to fall me in a depression. I lack confidence wherever i go. I know i compare a lot and that is the cause of everything. I see people who are disabled, whose conditions are worse than me but it still can't help me.
    I hate the way society works. Sometimes i feel everyone is lost, taking their own trips. No one knows anything. The way education is being promoted, the politics, religions, so called equality, the capitalism, nationalities etc etc. Like we have forgotten who we are. I have some land in my village but i cant just sow my food and eat it. Society demands that i must have a job and buy my food. From childhood i always hated that rat race. But now i think there is no way out of it. Enjoy or not we have to do it. I can't left my responsibilities and run away. My friends are working their ass of. And i am just stucked in observing my thoughts. My feelings get so much identified with my thoughts that my reality just changes.
    I realized that am having bipolar disorder. I talked to my parents. They worried and did whatever they could. Now they think i fake everything. Sometimes even i also feel that i am fooling myself. I have tried many things. I think i understand we suffer more in our thoughts than in a reality. I think I have a huge ego which tends me to suffer. But things won't work when that ugly depression hits. I feel tired and helpless nowadays. I dont like talking these things with my friends though i tried that too.
    I watched your tamed course, i agree with you but i have no motive left for anything. I feel just like a stone obstructing the path.
    My childhood gone, high school wasted, college life wasted. I didn't enjoy any of these the way one should. When i go outside, i watch people enjoying their trips into which they are lost. I can't. i am here wasting whatever is left.
    I am unable to take this man. Wherever i go ,Whatever i do my mind plays tricks with me.

    I'm eclectic with meditation, I'm not locked into any one form and incorporate many different techniques. With a single meditation practice, I often do different things. Sometimes I just am still not trying to do anything.

    Actually i find that moving meditation is easier than sitting still because for example when im holding a handstand it becomes a lot easier to be present and just focus on the mind muscle connection awareness

    oh also, I've done transcendantal med. (TM) before and the mantras are actually not words that you'd understand (at least not in TM) but they're sounds that repeat through ancient vedic scriptures. It's the mere action of a repeating sound that matters (like focusing on just breathe)

    Thank you for this. I like to ask the angels to fill me up with beautiful loving energy with every breath I take, and then I imagine as I blow it out, it is going to the universe.     #5 Best phrase to repeat. "Everyday and everywhere.. I am getting better and better. "
    #6 Breathe control meditation.
    Best for anxiety.hold the breathe for 4 seconds then breathe out and repeat

    Tbh I got sucked into guided meditation, and by that it was very popular when I started and I was advertised a lot of “free apps” but what I didn’t realize was it was only free for so long. I used to absolutely love the app Headspace, but after a while I realized something: I only got 10 “free guided meditation sessions” and in order to “level up” and move on the to the next course, I had to pay. No free trial, you got 10 free sessions, and that was it. So if you couldn’t pay like me, what I ended up restoring too was to keep repeating the 10 day free meditations for 10 day intervals. The problem with that? I basically mesmerized each and every line the narrator was about to say. I could basically remember each and every script. I knew what to expect, and it got boring. I even quit right after I got a school award for writing about my experience with the app and meditation benefits… I felt like I let everyone down and felt terrible. My point? Yes, guided meditations are nice. Simple and easy. I do recommend for beginners, but if your going to use an app, do research or just find actual free meditations here on CZcams. Because from my experience, not everything is free and accurately advertised. I’m going to try pranayama meditation next. Hopefully that will help me

    I am trying a more intuitive meditation. I really like to flow in and out where my mind needs so I am a beginner but I start with mindful breathing while listening to a very relaxing positive energy meditation music. Then I flow into visualization, where I might envision something beautiful or myself in a higher better state or place in my life depending on my goals, then I might notice or sense something about myself such as realizing what is most important to me right now and what other strivings can fall away for now, then I might have some mantras to focus on or reflect on such as "The universe provides for me" or "I am energy, light and love". This type of light/loving meditation speaks most to my inner needs and my soul. These things could go in any order or there could be other types but I try to let my thinking brain rest somewhat but not always completely and let more of my subconscious or creative mind take over. I am an INFJ/P Meyers brigg type if that helps anyone.

    Some recommend visualization + mantra. I mean, seeing in your mind what you want already in your possession. Like if you say, "I am calm", you then visualize yourself in a very calming environment.

    Mantra meditation and meta meditation as described is one and the same thing. Real mantra meditation has another purpose: to make the focus process preoccupied by the mantra, while background processes are brought to the conscious and then released.

    Great video! But one of the beauties of meditation is taking a break from forms and concepts.. so is kind of tricky the fact of giving a form to different meditations

    Nice introductory video. A couple of small corrections. Loving kindness meditation is called metta/mettā, not meta. Mindfulness meditation can be split into the secular type that you describe (the basis of MBSR) and vipassanā, a type of mindfulness meditation practiced by Buddhists. The techniques are similar but the goals of MBSR and vipassanā are very different. 🙏🙏🙏
