I never knew the joke and thought it was just low quality cause of Tracy Morgan's acting skills, but that joke is pretty good. 7-ish/10 made me chuckle
you don’t apologize for a joke. it’s comedy. that’s why dave can’t be cancelled. it’s satire, hyperbole, silly, goofy, and shouldn’t be taken too seriously. if you’re offended, that’s your problem.
Exactly. "He who takes offense when no offense is intended is a fool, and he who takes offense when offense is intended is a greater fool." - Brigham Young
Yeah he went to great lengths to learn and understand and he’s still cancelled most gays don’t even care or remember (PSA I’m bisexual no one come here saying I’m being phobic) It’s crazy how things get taken too far and also in defense of him I grew up in a rough neighborhood there were times and still are where you will get your ass beat if not worse happening to you let’s all not pretend that the world ain’t still a very dangerous place.
And so often the people who the joke is about, gays in this case, dont give a shit and know its a joke. The people who want to cancel are just looking for something to whine about and point out how wrong it is to make the joke so they can feel better and act as if they are a better person than who joked
I'm loving and accepting of all people of all sexualities and I acknowledge and support them as fellow humans that are my equal and who have their own valid lives and experiences. At the same time, I also absolutely can't stand it when anyone (gay, straight, male, female, or otherwise) talks in that distinctive, extremely camp voice. I feel like much of the time it's just an affectation or posturing. I've known too many LGBT people who've not felt the need to dive so hard into being camp to feel otherwise, or to feel that this aversion is due to any underlying prejudice on my part. I just hate campiness in general.
“exotic” is a privelaged way to describe a prejudice that motivates abuse, ostracization and disownment, gaslighting to the point of insanity, and the need to cope with drugs and alcohol if they havent killed themselves from everything else.
Rule of comedy: you can only make jokes about a group that you belong to. If you are gay you can make gay jokes, if you are fat you can make fat jokes. Then it's not only a joke, it's sort of like a diary of your own experiences. and it's accepted.

I don't expect my parents to respect my autonomy and identity as an adult sexual being if I don't respect them enough not to change my entire personality in order to be accepted by the objects of my attraction. My step-grandma always called my grandpa "daddy" around us as kids like it was his nickname or something. But she had a very fake baby voice to boot. It weirded me the eff out. I understand that submissive language is a huge part of adult sexual interactions but I don't need be reminded of who's spanking who everytime someone shouts "breakfast is ready daddy". If you have to adopt the role of sexual submissive in your normative speech patterns you might be reflecting more about what it took to get your parents love than reflecting something negative about your sexual preference.
"It was just a joke." Fair enough. So as a black, gay American, who didn't have a father growing up, I was saddened by Tracy Morgan's joke, but that's it. Of course the man shouldn't be cancelled or anything. He's a fkg Comedian. I get it. But here's the thing: Lots of you folks out there (Women & Men) should Never (Ever) be Parents, under ANY circumstances, for a host of reasons. Unfortunately (for your kids,) some of you (ARE.) And for some Crazy reason, Tracy's little 'Joke' reminds me of that sad Fact. 🤨
He didn’t HAVE to go on an apology tour. You can only cancel people who are scared of being cancelled. Like if some stranger told me my shoes were ugly I’d be like uh k? And keep going on with my day. That’s what these people need to do. You can’t give in to the woke cancel culture. Tell them to kick rocks and there’s fuck all they can do except cry a little more.
Howard Stern did a bit about Selena Quintanilla's murder. Hispanic community who were big fans of Selena got into an uproar. HEB grocery stores who depend on Hispanic community business removed all products from their shelves that had anything to do with Howard Stern. Howard came out apologizing and explaining IN SPANISH how he is a comedian and the bit was comedy. $$$$$ rules! Tracy Morgan has bills to pay, and mouths to feed, so he did what he had to do. I would have done the same.
It's fascinating to hear people talk about the ideas they have about a group and ask questions to it's members to get clarity. The difference in Louis' framing of this bit is that Morgan wasn't talking about something he didn't know. He was talking about his son changing a fundamental part of himself in order to gain acceptance in that group. If the group your kid is hanging out with only let's them hang out if they agree to crouch while they walk so they are never any taller than any other member you better pick them up by the back of the neck, look them in the eye and set them back down tall to remember what feels like to be loved as you stand and not crippling yourself for the chance at it.
Being a comedian is pathos, it’s taking a part of yourself and sharing it with the audience to where they can relate. You can’t sanction humour, and the fact people today can’t understand that is sad, it’s not the death of comedy, but it’s definitely a slow march unless something changes, and soon.
Eventually we’re going to tell ppl who want to cancel ppl to stfu, we’re already seeing that ppl who get “cancelled” come back bigger than they were before ie Shane Gillis or Cosby.. shit not Cosby he’s cancelled cancelled
These corporations love it, because the less people can say the better. It's a pointless "fight" it seems, because it's not really slowing. They have certain standards they're putting in behind it all, it's not really just about people being offended.

It should work both ways. If someone gets offended by something and you have to go to their special seminars then the offended should have to go to the hood, all alone, and see what that's like.
I don’t like Louis but he makes a good point there, people don’t care about educating instead it’s always a witch hunt for internet brownie points, now granted not everyone can be educated there’s a lot of straight up ignorant people in the world but this situation seemed like a way to have an honest open conversation(even though I don’t think he should have to apologise when he’s a comedian)
