I think that Benzema's disallowed goal completely destroyed Liverpool's confidence. They were "dominating" Madrid, yet Benzema was still able to put the ball into the back of their net on literally their first dangerous attack of the game. They knew that it was wrongly disallowed, but it still had the same psychological affect on them as if it were a real goal.

Liverpool are scared of Real Madrid. From the opening minutes you could tell as Frank Leboef mentioned, their press was not as high up the pitch as they are accustomed to pressing everyone else, including when they play Man. City.

@@omarbabakarkhail EPL being competitive and EPL teams being good in European tournaments are two completely different thing that people don’t catch on to. This is the 5th time a La Liga team has defeated an English team in UCL final since 2000. During that time, La Liga teams have lost once when they faced a non-Spanish team in European finals, out of 17 finals total. ATM, Villarreal and Sevilla has dominated Europa and Barca, RM have clobbered them in UCL over and over again. EPL is competitive because EPL teams are exorbitantly rich compared to other league teams. That’s why mid table teams in EPL could put up more fight, but their top 6 teams won’t hold the same level of dominance in European competition.
After group stages, Liverpool had 3 games against strong opponents on paper, 2 against Inter and the final. They lost 2 out of 3. Real Madrid won more games against Top 4 EPL teams than Liverpool. How did they hype this team up as the best in Europe is beyond me.

RM know that. Liverpool is a great team in 2022 in general, but you cant say they are better team when facing RM, because they loose...
The better team is the winner team. Period. Even tho they loose ball possession or shot on goal, it dont matter. Its all about strategy to win.
Just like in boxing. Maybe you loose on point, but you arent losing before the time ended. You can win like a second if you can knock out your opponent even if you have just one punch in 10 round... That punch is enough to make you the winner.
RM got one goal to make them won, and they arens conceded one single goal even tho they got attacked so many times.... That make them better than Liverpool in the final.

Meaning: Madrid are extremely adaptable, that is one of their main qualities, they did what they thought they had to do. Madrid aren't lucky, they Make their own luck
    1) they have constantly afterled their opponents when needed 3 times in the champions league, more times in the league. I've seen Madrid play Sevilla , be 2 goals down at half time in a game they could very much afford to lose since they had a 12 point lead with 4 games left. Guess what? they fought hard n won that game, winning the league with 3 games to spare. Liverpool didn't beat their top 3 opponents in the league in open play; they beat a mediocre man-city in the cup.
Guess what Madrid beat city 3-1, Chelsea 3-1 , afterleading when necessary. Madrid are the TRUE MENTALITY MONSTERS. Liverpool couldn't make a comeback and they had 30mins. Michael Owen said, "2/3 of the fans in the stadium are Liverpool. It should feel like a home game"
The argument that Madrid were lucky is stupid. In the lead up they faced Chelsea in which Rudiger scored off a corner that wasnt supposed to be (luck was against madrid). They never gave up, they recovered that game with 2 goals. And went through. This was the Toughest opponent they faced as that opponent showed heart to get back into the game.
I bet you Madrid would have recovered that final if it were Liverpool that scored the first goal and not Madrid. Why because we've seen Madrid do it about 6 times this season against powerful opposition. In the league and in the UCL. I'm sorry but honestly Madrid have had steeper ladders to climb this season than Liverpool. Liverpool didn't even score a goal. Boasting possession and shots is pointless even Villarreal n Sevilla boasted the same against Madrid this season. Neither of them beat Madrid. City , psg, Chelsea all had more possession n shots. Is it me, or did Liverpool lose passion after the Real scored their goal. I saw very little passion from Liverpool through the 90

I can't believe I'm agreeing with anything jules say but that was exactly what Mark Clattenburg said; Fabinho went in to tackle...via a sliding tackle. For that simple fact that he slid to hit the ball, it becomes intentional. These so-called rules are ridiculous and not well thought out. Who remembers the Mbappe goal in the Nations League?

I'm tired of people criticizing Liverpool.. instead of commending Real Madrid's brilliance .. again .. if valverdes "shot" was actually what you say it was, his accuracy is second to non ... He has the best shot accuracy in the Madrid midfield .. to call that a shot makes me question your expertise...you're delusional (sorry to say)...it was obviously a cross .. stop blaming Liverpools faults ..

I by no mean am at any level close to those players but, I do cross the ball with my laces if the situatian is appropriate. If i have to give the pass with a lot of pace in a tight space, then you have to put a lot of power behind it and pass it with your laces.

I find it interesting with all the talk about "Modern Football" with the possession and pressing game, especially high pressing, that it was Real Madrid, playing their best "Mourihno" ball that won the CL. Score one for Jose. Real absorbed pressure most of the game, got off 4 shots, 2 on goal, 1 went in, gave up 24 shots, 9 on goal and won. That's Joseball. Absorb , absorb, counter, nick a goal and ride a hot GK.

I like to cross with my laces when I want the ball to come in fast across the goal and loss it’s power fast so the other player doesn’t need to take a big touch.

If Real Madrid was not the best team of the year, who was and why? Moreover, why didn’t they make it (or win) the CL? That’s the point of these tournaments. If there was a rematch I’d choose Liverpool, hands down, but Madrid won and they are the best team in Europe. Stop calling them less than what they are - champions of Europe.

If they cant beat top 4 and in all finals how can you say this is one of the best teams. As a neutral who doesnt watch epl i was disappointed by both City and Pool. City blew a lead against Real like 2 minutes before full time which shows weakness in this so called best team. The best team in world could defend a lead for 2 minutes in semis. This is far from best Real. We saw that in final too. Pool blew it, they had the momentum, Real score against the run of play and then manage the lead. A truly strong (best ever etc) Pool team would have come back and at least forced extra time

Jules has gotten so twisted out of shape trying to defend Mbappe that he's lost all credibility. He thinks if he can belittle Real Madrid it won't seem that Mbappe is just in it for the money. Mbappe has every right to go for the money but don't try to pretend he stayed at PSG for other reasons. Also the final score was really 2-0. Benzema's goal should have counted the same as Mbappe's against Spain in the Nations Cup 2021 or Korea's goal against Germany in the World Cup.( or many others) The ref's reasoning was absolutely ridiculous.
