    Condensing is an incredible tool, I'm pretty much speechless. If I would've had this powerful tool before it would have saved me hours(!!!) of work, instead I've spent many many frustrating hours with Sibelius doing it all manually. Dorico is the future!

    This is great; it makes an orchestral score look really professional with just a few clicks, for example having horns 1 & 3 and 2 & 4 together. Thank you!

    Would be really useful to add condensing breaker to give freedom for whether to condense per staff, as in some extreme polyrhythmic cases, even if the layers don’t cross but just a mess to see they condensed.

      Yes, we have more plans for this in the future - in the same way we currently handle divisi so that you can set a divisi point and the options at that point.

    This is one of my favorite features in Dorico! At 8:25 you advice to use the gallery view with the condensed view at the same time. advice to use the gallery view with the condensed view at the same time. How about Cellos+Basses, is it possible for them to condense like in classical Mozart scores??

    • @dorico
      @dorico  Před 5 lety

      Yes - although only 'solo' players (not section players) can condense, so make sure you create them as solo players. You will also need to set up a custom condensing group in Layout Options.

    Can you condense only sections of a piece?

    • @dorico
      @dorico  Před 2 lety

      Dorico normally applies condensing for the whole piece, but you can set manually condensing options/areas, including not to condense if you wish.

    "Music on condensed staves is not editable. In fact you can't even select it. This is because you cannot reliably know how to apportion music on these staves to the individual instruments of which they comprise."
    Uh... what? You just talked about how 1., 2., a 2 etc. do exactly that. Why can't I just write a line, mark it "a 2" (or whatever) and you put it to the corresponding staves?
    I * Want * to work in condensed view. It's how scores have been written for centuries. I don't want to have to work in a template with a hundred individual staves. I seriously hope you guys fix this ASAP.

    • @dorico
      @dorico  Před rokem

      If you start working this way and copy a published score you'll very quickly realise that it can be quite ambiguous whether the printed score was e.g. a2 or not as the labels might be missed. We therefore work the other way, and if you extend the caret over the multiple staves you can still enter the chord as it appears in your printed music and Dorico will input the correct notes on to each staff: czcams.com/video/cSA7Vc2mQuM/video.html
