      I want a Model Z, similar design and size to the Y, but with much more ground clearance like a Cybertruck.
      With:
      * Model S center consol setup.
      That storage setup is ultra-genius.
      * regular dual stalks. PRND stalk and Lights-&-Wiper stalk
      * normal round steering wheel
      * extra steering wheel switches kinda like on the yoke, for some handy shortcuts. Not for turn signals, of course NOT, it has a stalk for that.
      * physical buttons/switches/knobs array for Air Conditioning control, below the display

    Thanks for the video. I have an OG Model S from 2013 and 150,000 mi. I've considered replacing it with a Model Y but nothing compares to the comfort and quiet of the Model S suspension. It's not just the softer ride, it's also the filtering of vibrations of all frequencies that make for a very relaxing drive. Even a 2023 MY, although substantially more comfortable than earlier Model 3 and Model Y, still feels a bit unrefined. I test drove a 2023 LR Model S and that filtering quite is still there and even better than mine. Also, the variable height can help in deep snow, unpaved roads, or steep driveways.

    I would love to see it able to store maps so that the navigation system still works when you travel to areas without cell service. When I drive in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the maps gradually go blank except for a thin line where you are driving but it can no longer navigate to your destination, especially if you stop the car. All my previous cars have had factory navigation with everything stored in memory. GPS was in the hard drive and DVD or regular CD’s by region before that. I’m told that the Lucid’s can store maps offline.

    Hi @Electric Canuck being in Canada how does your Tsela S handle, perform in the winter months? Does the battery hold a charge the same as in the summer?

    • @ElectricCanuck
      @ElectricCanuck  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Hi! I got my Model S at the end of February, so I didn't have many sub zero days. I expect cold weather performance to be similar to my Model Y. With my Model Y, at 0°C, I would lose about 15% of range. At -20°C, I would lose 30% of range. This is typical for Tesla vehicles, and how batteries behave in the cold. It is important on super cold days to precondition the battery before leaving on your trip. On the flip side, in the summer, I get more than rated range. Cheers.

    How does it compare in terms of ride comfort? I do a lot of long road trips and have put 30k miles on my Model 3 in one year and for my next Tesla would love something quiet, comfortable, and smooth. Is the S much better or not noticeable compared to a Y?

    • @ElectricCanuck
      @ElectricCanuck  Před 10 měsíci +7

      The ride is very customizable because of the adaptive air suspension. You can set it to automatically adjust to the driving conditions, or dial in a very firm or soft ride. On long trips, I set the air suspension to the comfort setting. It’s very smooth and gentle in that setting. The seats are a bit larger, and I find them more comfortable then the 3 or Y. Lastly, the Model S is noticeably quieter in the cabin when driving compared to the 3 or the Y. Cheers.

I have a couple of friends who own an S with the 21"s, and I much prefer the ride quality of my Model S. I usually keep the suspension setting on automatic. I hear you on the ride height. I don’t think about it anymore, but I did for the first couple of weeks. I think you just get used to it. The S is still a big car, despite riding lower. This may be why I’m not having a difficult time with it. You can raise the suspension to compensate a bit as well. That was a long preamble to ‘I thought I would miss the ride height, but I don’t’. Everyone is different though. Definitely take the S for a test drive to get a sense of how much it may or may not bother you. Best wishes with your decision!

    Do NOT buy the Model S, even the refreshed one is plagued with QC issues (panel gaps, NVH). The major one is body flexing noises at only 10,000 mi (my 2022). It's unbelievably bad, SC barely did anything about it. There is some design flaw. I couldn't stand it any more and sold it. If you have to have one, just LEASE IT. Trust me - or regret it.

    I'd get a tesla if texas didn't pass the additional $200 fee for car registration for electric vehicles.ooffset losing money from gas taxes in gas sales. I hope I'm wrong I thought I read that houstons chrons website?

    • @ElectricCanuck
      @ElectricCanuck  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Yeah, I heard about that. I think the same policy will be coming to most states to replace gas tax revenue. If you mostly charge at home, you're probably still ahead in terms of operating costs per year v. a gasoline powered car. Just my 2 cents. Cheers.

      @@ElectricCanuckI compared the gasoline cost of running my current SUV so far this year versus the home charging electricity bill a model S would have cost for the same 7,400 miles. I paid a little over $2030 for gasoline to run my SUV and I calculated that to run a Model S over the same mileage, the home charging would have cost me about $204 or so, based on paying 9.4 cents per kWh. This was even using very conservative mpg-e calculations. So paying an extra $200.00 annually to register and EV is small potatoes compared to potential gasoline costs to run an ICE vehicle.

      I had a Chevrolet Volt (one of the best cars ever) and they started charging EV rates, for tags, in Oklahoma in the last two years. I gave the Volt to my granddaughter and even though the Volt was a gas/electric hybrid, they still charge an EV rate for the Volt. I bought a Model Y three years ago. I think I paid an extra $110 for the Model Y tag. They go by weight I think. Our nighttime electric rate is 5 cents per KWH so driving the Tesla costs almost nothing. With the HUGE price drop of the Model S, it is so tempting to upgrade.

    HORN BUTTON: The middle of the steering wheel is a terrible location. When an emergency happens, your hands need to be on the steering wheel -- not atop the airbag.

    I don't know why anyone would not practice the horn a lot prior to going out driving, rather than waiting for an actual driving situation to happen before doing the horn.

    • @ElectricCanuck
      @ElectricCanuck  Před 9 měsíci +2

      I did practice the horn, I can assure you. The problem is that in an emergency situation, *instinct* and *30 years of muscle memory* override practice. This is why it is insane for any car manufacture to place the horn anywhere but the middle of the steering wheel.

There were all sorts of designs depending on the steering wheel design, but you just had to press anywhere on the ring to activate the horn. Like I said, before your time 🙂
