I've owned the 2022 Tesla Model S for over 5 months. I'm going to tell you what I think about the positive and negative when it comes to owning this vehicle. Watch before you buy!
The model 3/Y’s screen doesn’t “look smaller” because everything is crammed into a single screen, it IS smaller. (Model S/X have a 17” screen, the 3/Y is 15”)
I own two Model S; a 2020 (wife - with over 75K miles) and mine 2022. What I don't like is the fit/finish on the vehicles. Body panels are not perfect, gap tolerances are off. My passenger door panel chrome line is 1/4" off from the continued line on the dash but the driver side is perfect - which means my dash is installed crooked. My left side fender is 1/8" higher than my light yet passenger side is perfect. I want more detailed data on my charging - like average time to charge. My 2020 has literally lost zero battery capacity after 75k miles. So the haters telling my to enjoy buying a new battery...
I know what you mean about getting excited to go somewhere, anywhere in my '22MS. I got mine Ceramic Pro gold package coated as soon as I got my appointment then I start noticing how much fine dirt shows on pearl white so got another appointment to get it wrapped in satin black in 2 weeks. Went for SE Georgia to Homestead,Fl. it was such a joy to drive and used AP lightly since I didn't find the drive taxing like it was with my previous trips with my Range Rover. As my husband always says that I love electronic gadgets and my S LR is the one stole my heart. Anxiously waiting for my CT but I'll never let go my S.
I watched your review and pulled the trigger on a 23 MSLR. I upgraded from a MYP, and it’s a huge step up in terms of overall luxury and ride quality. I love the air suspension and cooled seats! I also feel this vehicle is build better. It’s completely quite when I’m driving and I don’t hear any rattles.
Your car looks awesome! Just ordered a 2023, same config w\Round Steering Wheel. What MFG Tint and what % did you go with? Did you also have the Windshield tinted as well? Thanks
Took 8 days to put full paint protection over my Model S Plaid. I also had ceramics put over the paint protection film. I wash my car with waterless car wash sprayer and good microfiber rag.
Great vid.... I have a M3 RWD and love it. and am looking at a Model S Long Range next.... Thanks for the video. Oh I have driven my M3 which is white also 22K miles in 9 months and have no paint issues.... I didnt do any rap or anything and have taken massive road trips some in cold and crappy rpads like through the desert and in Oregon in winter.
YOu happen to know the build dates? I'm looking at buying a 2022 (april build) that has the smaller backscreen and maybe no tilt. However, it only has 8K miles, white interior, the 21" wheels and the FSD, for $70K, I feel like it's not a bad price considering the lower miles and all the upgrades over a standard vehicle. But I would like the bigger back screen and the tilt. Do you know if Tesla will retrofit the tilt? THe backscreen I heard is easy to retrofit.
Thanks for the video. I wish I could afford the new MS. We have had the 2018 MS 100D for four years and we like it very much. It now has about 92 k on it. The main battery failed about six thousand miles ago and was replaced under warranty. Not too many other problems with the car. I wish it had the storage pockets in the doors as the new MS has. If Tesla would let me keep the free supercharging, I would get the new MS. I did not like the foam lined tires that came with the car. I felt they gave the car a stiff ride. My hearing is bad, so I did not notice if the tires had less road noise. Good luck with your new MS. Ray
That’s awesome! 92k miles. I saw a video of the Tesla that has a million miles! The updated Model S has its advantages for sure but any Tesla is truly a good ride. I didn’t know you would loose your free charging if you upgraded?? Let us know if you ever do the upgrade!!
Awesome car, I’m planning on getting either a black or white Model S next year, can’t wait. How was the service at the ATL Tesla center? I’m in the Atlanta area too so hopefully they’re solid.
Definitely sits low. If you don’t like struggling to get in and out of a car don’t get the S. I personally love the lower seated position while driving
Objective and Realistic Opinion! Can you share your experience with the brakes? In other videos, people complain about them, and for cars like this and for the Plaid model for example with over 1 000hp they are not enough. Thank you!
I have a Plaid and the brakes haven't been an issue under 130mph. Emergency braking at 150mph can feel sketch. The stock brakes would need to be upgraded if yore going to track it. The brakes are decent enough for most street driving situations.
@WH WH Idk believe you're right. I always heard the most durable was white and red due to multi coat. I have a midnight silver coming in but it will be ppf'ed and ceramic coated
I Too have a 22' Tesla S but mine is a Plaid which is essentiallythe same as the LR but way more power. My wife also dailys a 19' Tesla 3 performance. Our experience has been very similar to what was mentioned in this video. If you're one of those that's going to nitpick fit and finish, Tesla is NOT for you! The tech and performance are the highlights of Tesla. I'll admit as a car enthusiast, I miss driving ice performance cars at times. Tesla as a daily and a fun ice car for the weekend would be best of both worlds imo.
Yeah I can foresee being a little grumpy about the build quality at the price point of a Plaid. But the tech, power, and futuristic driving experience will definitely offset it. I don’t like the vibe of any other electric vehicle out there, just keep coming back to the Model S during my research.
Thanks for honesty. I love the model S. Looks better than the 3 and is not an suv lol but has space like an suv. I would think it’s higher quality than the 3/y I have a stick shift wrx but want this as well for daily use, keep the stick for the weekend !
Tesla: "hmm how can we make people buy a new tesla?" Elon Musk: "let's do everything the same put a fancy steering wheel in it that isn't safe in case your car gets into trouble but looks like we imagined the future car would look like back in the 70s" Tesla: "awesome"
@@realgdp27 yes it is, but only in formula 1 race cars in which you never have to turn your yoke more than 180 degress to get maximum deflection. In a car, this is very different. You need to be able to turn you wheel 2 times (720 degrees) even in an emergency situation quickly. Thats not possible with a yoke.
You don't need to drive on a gravel road to get chipped paint. I have been driving over 50 years and have more experience than you. I also have a model S now 2 1/2 months old.

100% agree about being excited every time I get to drive!
Awesome review, balanced and informative! Look forward to the year update if you still plan to do one 👍.

I have a 2023 Y LR. Im considering. Does the S feel big to whip around with u & wifey or yourself? How have the door handles held up?
What has been your range on a long road trip?
How long have you had it? 😅
Hello, what is the actual mileage you get with the car? Thank you
Any issues with tires getting worn out fast?

Whats the monthly payment on this?
The thinner paint issues are due to the environmental regs that the Fremont plant has to contend with. Ya touch up & PPF it
i wonder if the black or red paint are as cheap being that they actually cost more.
Red is multi coat.. which means more than one coat.
Also rock chips will occur no matter what kind of paint you have.
Isn’t the white multi coat too?

Really wish there was a steering wheel option.
Why???
Have a model S with a yoke.
Have zero issues driving.
Like not having to look thru a steering wheel.
Round steering is an option and can be retrofitted
