I own the 3qt. IP and the 6 qt IP - Use them both ALL the time - It's just my hubby and me, but they are so easy to use, and I don't know why it took me so long to get one or two - A couple of fav's of mine are Homemade Mac & Cheese - 1 lb of Elbow Macaroni, 4 cups of chicken broth, put on lid cook 4 min. do a quick release, stir noodles then click the saute button, add 1/2 cup of milk, 2 TBS Butter - mix together now add 2 cups of shredded cheese (any kind) mix all together - ENJOY! My other favorite is Mini Cheese Cakes! YUM-O - 1 cup of graham cracker crumbs, 6 TBS Melted Butter, 3 TBS sugar, 1 tsp Cinnamon (Mix together, put in the mini cups for the crust - Now in a bowl add 1/2 cup sugar, 1 block room temp. cream cheese, 2 room temp eggs, 1 tsp vanilla & 1 TBS Lemon Juice - Mix together, pour into the mini cups (I use Ramekins) shake or smack down the cups to remove bubbles, cover them with foil - add 1 cup of water to your instant pot, use a trivet and sit your ramekins on top of the trivet - high pressure, cook for 3 min. , do a natural release for 15 mins. and boom it's done - :) FYI 6" Rd Ramekins cook for about 5min. and 4" ramekins cook for about 3 mins.

    Stuffed Pepper Casserole
    Sauté together:
1 lb of ground beef, 1 diced onion, 3 diced peppers (any color), and garlic (as much or as little as you like) - S&P too!
Once beef browned, add 1 can diced tomatoes, 1 can tomato sauce, 1 T Worcestershire, 1 T soy sauce, 1 T ketchup, 1 c basmati rice, 2 c beef broth. Pressure cook for 8 minutes and natural release for 10 minutes. Stir in 2 c of shredded cheddar. Done! It is very forgiving. You almost can’t mess it up, unless you undercook the rice.

Instant pot recipe: 1.5-2 pounds diced chicken, 32 Oz of your favorite salsa, 6-8oz of corn, 16 Oz of black beans. Cook chicken through then add rice, I usually cook mine just underdone so it will soak up the liquid. I use the keep warm setting for 15-20 minutes until the liquid is absorbed. Then serve with tortilla chips and sour cream.

Double checking the pressure cooker seal -- excellent tip!! When I was 13ish, my mom used an old fashioned pressure cooker to make chicken & noodles. One day it all ended up on the ceiling! I'm now scared to attempt using an 'instant pot' because of that memory. And now I realize she probably didn't do a seal check.

I’m a single person and did the same as your mom - got a 3 quart IP, which I immediately found was too small. I then picked up a 6 quart IP Duo Evo Plus which I love - it automatically seals (which I would constantly forget to do), has handles on the inner pot that keep it from spinning when you are cooking on sauté, and there’s a nice status bar display showing where you are in the cooking process. There is one thing that the 3 quart is perfect for and that’s making coldstart yogurt. It’s just the right size and it’s nice to have the smaller bowl when you are refrigerating overnight. If you haven’t made it, give it a try - it’s the best yogurt ever.

    10-12 gala apples
    1/4 cup of water
    1 tbsp cinnamon
    1tbsp lemon juice
Peel and core apples and put them in the instant pot. I leave them in large chunks. Add water, cinnamon and lemon juice and give it a light stir. Pressure cook for 8 minutes on high pressure , natural release for 10 minutes on keep warm, then mash with a potato masher to your desired consistency. Makes about 10 - half cup servings....perfect for lunches!

Okay, I have a recipe for you to try. I made it up one day. I had used bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs but I recommend boneless, skinless instead.
    Butternut Chicken
    6 boneless, skinless chicken thighs
2 cans chicken broth (could probably also just use one), app. 4 cups
1 can cream of chicken soup
24 oz. Frozen, diced butternut squash
1 can corn, drained & rinsed (corn optional)
    1 tsp. ground ginger
    1 tsp. ground turmeric
    1 tsp. garlic powder
    1 tsp. cumin
    1 tsp. onion powder
Black pepper and salt to taste
    Corn starch slurry at end.
Cook in Instant Pot on Low pressure for 35-40 minutes (my chicken was frozen). Use the sauté feature to mix in the cornstarch slurry to thicken sauce. Serve over rice, potatoes or cooked whole grains.
I'd really like to know what you'll all think!

Instant Pot Pork Roast: 3 pound roast, seasoned with garlic powder, onion powder, rosemary, salt & pepper. Then in EVOO sear all sides on the saute mode. Remove from pot.
Next add any roasting vegetables (pronunciation- vege-tab-les 😁) about 1in cubes or length. Saute until lightly browned. Red wine deglazing optional, about 1/4-1/2 cup (depending on preference). Then add 1 cup chicken stock and pork roast back in on top of vegetables. Use stew/soup button for appropriate doneness- I remembered it all- but how long.. go with 20 minutes, natural release 5-10. Enjoy the yumminess! 🍲

    Instantpot:
    I'm 56.
My Mom bought an instantpot /pressurecooker (for stovetop use), when I was around 12-13 years old.
We were a 3- 4 people household, when I grew up: Lot's-a 'taters boiled in that pot!!!
Today, my mom is a single-household... and she still uses that very same pot - at least once a week.🏆
    She NEVER had an "explosion"!!!

    • @nuithlotte7840
      @nuithlotte7840 Před rokem

I don't own an instantpot - but use my (large/feeds up to 6-8 ppl.) rice-cooker, as I would have used an "insta"... only - it takes a looong time! 🤣
My "SLOW"-cooker is a römertopf (clay-vessel)... which I use in my oven - which goes all the way down to 35 C/95 F... making it PERFECT for slow cooking.
      In my case: Mostly meats.
My römer is too large for my single-cooking... and my freezer, too small for large batch-cooking. 😅🤫...So... I mainly use it for "family dinner"style meals...
or, for "spoiling" my University-kids (in their mid-twenties).

I buy a whole chicken do it in the instapot slowcooked with one beer and equal measure of water as beer (use beer bottle to measure your water). When cooked and falling off bone remove pat dry add seasoning of choice. I like rotisserie seasoning bake in oven for about 30 minutes on 350 to allow the seasoning to flavor the meat, then remove meat cut into cubes divide into bags of one cup each for freezer (to be used in chicken and dumplings, chicken chowder, etc....) I even save the carcass once all meat is removed to make up my own chicken broth which is amazing for other recipes. Getting multiple meals from a 5 dollar bird (average cost of one in our area) My husband adores this recipe and swears is better than anything you can buy in store. Super simple and something I don't have to babysit it and can make up potatoes or mac and cheese or whatever side item to serve it from the oven the remaining chicken is used in future recipes.

This is one my family favorites
    CHICKEN FRENCH DIP SANDWICHES
    INGREDIENTS
    2 lbs boneless/skinless chicken breasts
    1/2 large onion, pureed
    2 tsp butter, diced
    14.5 oz can beef broth
    1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
    2 tbsp cornstarch
1 tbsp garlic, minced (about 6 cloves)
    1 tsp salt
    1 tsp parsley
    1/2 tsp black pepper
    1/4 tsp thyme
On serving day: 6 slices Havarti cheese + 6 hoagie rolls
    1. In a large bowl mix together onion, butter, beef broth, Worcestershire, cornstarch, garlic, salt, parsley, pepper, and thyme. Add chicken and transfer to a gallon sized freezer bag or container for instant pot.
MAKE IT NOW: Add to either the instant pot or crockpot and cook as directed below.
MAKE IT A FREEZER MEAL: Seal bag or container, removing as much air as possible and freeze.
    COOK IN INSTANT POT
From frozen, add contents into an instant pot. Saute for 5 minutes or until you have about 1/4 cup of liquids. Cook for 30 minutes at high pressure then allow 10 minutes for natural release.
From thawed or freshly made, transfer into an instant pot. Cook for 28 minutes at high pressure, then allow 10 minutes for natural release.
    COOK IN CROCK POT
From thawed or freshly made, transfer into slow cooker. Cook on high for 3-4 hours or low 6-7 hours.
TO SERVE: Shred chicken. Toast hoagie rolls under the broiler until golden. Place some shredded chicken on hoagie bottom, and top with a slice of havarti cheese. Spoon off fat or use fat separator on liquids left in crock pot. Serve this “jus” into small bowls and serve with each sandwich for dipping.

    Asian inspired meatballs:
1 package home style frozen meatballs
    1 bottle sweet chili sauce
    1-2 green onions
1 package frozen stir fry medley veggies (or use fresh)
    1-2 cups rice
    1.5-2.5 cups chicken stock/broth
    Sesame seeds for sprinkling
Cook rice in instant pot with chicken stock. Put to side when finished. Put meatballs, sweet chili sauce and stir fry frozen veggies in instant pot stir to combine. Cook for 5 mins on high pressure then quick release. Serve over rice and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
    Yummy yummy!

So I just tried the chicken fajita pasta. That is fantastic and I cannot believe I lived before that was a thing. Chicken was originally BBQ pre-seasoned chicken leg quarters but hey that was what I found on sale yesterday. I cooked part of the chicken earlier today for another recipe and repurposed the leftover liquid for broth to which I added BBQ seasoning, 1 chicken cube and garlic powder. I pressed the broth butter on my Amazon-brand Instant Pot. The dish is hot. I used canned tomato though... But BBQ chicken works just fine too! :) it adds extra flavouring

I have been an instant pot lover for 5 years. I started with a 5qt, got a 6qt, most days I use both. My next wish list is an air fryer, but I don't know what size would be good for my use. I appreciate this video because I have found chicken has the biggest learning curve for me when using the pressure cooker.

I would love to see what all you’d do with a rotisserie. I have one but mostly just make chicken (standard rotisserie), rosemary and thyme pork loin, and beef roast. Beef roast is amazing but leftovers are tricky. Better off with a cold leftover beef salad with blue cheese, tomatoes, and romaine. Yumm

    Swiss steak
2 lbs of eye of round steak
    1 can tomato sauce
    2 cans diced tomatoes
    1 green bell pepper
    2 stalk celery
2 packs McCormick beef stew seasoning
Season the steaks with salt and pepper then sear on the sauté function, add the rest of the ingredients and choose the stew setting. Serve over rice!
I grew up on this but cooked in an old fashioned pressure cooker. Instant pot was such a game changer!
