How Farms Work by Ryan Kuster is a CZcams channel based in rural Potosi, Wisconsin. Our mission is to teach those who didn't grow up on a farm what the farming life is like. These videos show the Kuster family working together raising cattle and crops. We believe everyone who wants to know more about farming should be able to share the farming experience with us and we look to educate the world on many essential agriculture topics.
How Farms Work takes place on ~1,100 acres with around 75-200 cattle at any given time. Four John Deere tractors are currently used on the farm, which are a 4020, 4640, 7600, and 8235R.
Ryan, I've been watching you since OLF talked about you on his channel several (like 4?) years back. I like to think of him as the grandpa of CZcams farmers. Also, what you can do with a camera and your editing skills is nothing short of pure cinema 🎥 👏🙌
Loved that sunset shot with the bailer. There really is an art to what you are doing Ryan, your love of photography shows. Also this video showed something very important about farmers that I don't think gets enough attention and that is the resourcefulness to use every aspect of the crop. It started by harvesting the corn, but then the stalks get turned into bedding for the cows, the bedding will later be used as fertilizer on the fields, which will in turn help grow more corn. It's a very important cycle, and one that we can learn a lot from.
Best farming drone shots and farming drone shots music selection out there!
Beautiful to watch, esp. silhouetted against the sunset. Stirs me up to want to be baling! Nice close Hannah! Thanks Ryan!
Thanks, Ryan & Hannah! I'm sure many of your loyal fans hope that you videoed the new combine harvesting!
The cows are really going to enjoy that bale of bedding with that ear of corn in it. 😋
26 inches of snow. You keep it!
Another great day for you and bailing!
From now on we need Hannah doing the ending and maybe even the intros
Nice to hear Hannah say a few words at the end , great video , glad you made your target of bales
Another great video.. you guys do a great job at telling the farm story and getting the best video shots.. love the camera work.. drones, close ups, internal shots.. keep it up.
That's a fantastic shot of the bale forming in the chamber
Ryan remains the champ of drone videos.
Another awesome video with the guest appearance by Hanah
Kuhntastic job of making corn fodder! I love Wisconsin sunsets an sun rises.
You'll be glad to have for bedding! Hey, I heard the Deere settled . That's good!!
I'm Glad you still had good yield despite all the downed corn.
FANTASTIC CUSTOM BAILING
Great camera work . It's like that kuhn Baler is doing a really nice job. Been awhile since I've seen the dust flying when you're doing fodder
Once again I love your music choices, well done you!
Great bailer never get tired of seeing that in action
Great stuff Ryan and Hannah, it was nice to have the second baler there for back up:):)
Your videos keep getting better Ryan👍the music and footage is 2nd to none💪🏻keep crushin it bud😎😎😎
The 82 will forever be known as “Tripod”
that is a neat idea to use the stalks for fodder and bedding around here the often just get plowed under
loved the sunset shots while you were working
Great sunset. Take care see you next time.
Nice. 2 balers gets the job done in a hurry. Great vid work, as always. Looks like you had some fine weather for this work.
Hey Ryan!! That bale matches the 82. A little lopsided lol. Have a great weekend!
Your family does a great job I love your videos all the time keep up the good work
Hannah! Nice video.
The dairy farms I grew up around and working on didn't bale fodder. Looking at the really detailed coverage here and Travis' statements in previous videos regarding fodder really shows that it is really beneficial use of product that would otherwise be only fertilizer and nuisance pioneer corn. This is good practical stuff! The cows are gonna go bonkers over it. The videography is top notch!
Thanks for the great video Ryan, the drone footage was awesome. It sure was a gorgeous sunset 👍
Yep, Dad is gettin' her done.....raking that is.
Great awesome video Ryan
Very cool video thanks! Love to see the evening shots! Thanks again!
That was so cool how Hannah just took what Ryan always says at the end of the videos made me laugh keep up the awesome work.
Nice and thank-you! But Hanna visiting is fun.
great how farms work video, thanks for sharing
Never had to bale corn stalks. Never had cows.
Baled enough wheat straw square bales to cover the moon though.
They looked pretty good to me.
Great video and y'all take care.
I enjoyed the video
Good content 👍
Nice video ryan
Nice work good video brother
26 inches??? Huh ??!?!? I'm moving close to you!! Upstate Ny!!!
Hello. There's no doubt you'll heave excellent muck/manure to spread out once you have used the chopped bales for a while for the bedding.. nice camera work as usual 👌. Stay safe 🏴
Nice flatbed semi trailer. Did I miss something
NICE DRONE CONTROL.
The sunset in the background looks really good👍😉 your drone work is on another level😁👍
Nice to see that you are done with making fodder for the year👍👍
Very Good Video Greets Markoツ
Take a drink every time he says fodder.
I like the kuhn baler but I would like to see ya demo a JD 560R with plus2 accumulator cuz I think having the ability to dropp 3 bales into a row would speed up bale hauling.
👍
Hi Hannah!
The Kuhn did a nice job. Hope the jd baler was a way issue to fix
Hi
Time to get another tractor! A 6 or 7 series would be 👍
Was that from some of your downed corn fields, looked like more corn cobs laying in the field then there should be.
Did you get a flat bed trailer? Saw one in the beginning shots when your dad was raking.
Hey Ryan
Like your videos and how you explain things. Question for you, your JD4640 running led lights, looks like it. What brand are they? Looking for some for my JD 4440. Messaging from the great white North, British Columbia, Canada
What's the plan for the semi flatbed?
Another great video. That Kuhn baler really does the job. The quality of the photography in your videos is amazing. Well done. Always enjoyable to watch.
On a side note, Travis appears to have stopped CZcams. I have no way of contacting him to find out. Can you confirm this? If he has can you please include him more in your videos as well as his family occasionally. Be nice to see that they are doing well.
He’s found it difficult to manage his time doing so much, having a kid I imagine makes being a farmer on CZcams even more difficult
Is that the field that had wind damage? I noticed corn on the ground.
Can you put grass silage/baleage through that baler?
Ryan - who was playing the music during the video ? I really enjoyed the acoustic guitar and dobro.
I got my quote for 2022 net and twine. I'm not going to get political, but you can figure out what I'm thinking.
We do from 1500 to 2500 bales of corn stalks bales every year.
I now who is buying a Kuhn baler as his next purchase on his farm.he said the very same thing before he bought the JCB
that is alot of corn fodder bales never used them for bedding before but i guess it must work or you would not be doing it
Were does you music for drone footage come from
How long have you had the 4640
If at all possible I think you try to keep the Kuhn baler.
Is this Corn (maize) Stalks ! From Norfolk England !! Love your content and how you film this Vlogg !!!
It is
When you don't have crops that produce straw for bedding you make do with what you have, corn stalks are a very common substitute in North America, though soy bean and canola (rapeseed) stubble are also used.
Yield per arce?
When will you be done harvesting?
We finished this week, last video of harvest should be up Wednesday
Does corn fodder cause wear on the bailer compared to hay?
Yes
Hey Ryan, Not to bring up a Sore subject, But what ever became of the Solar Farm ? I haven't heard you talk about it in a Long time, Not that You would want to. Is it still a Go ? Is it been Tabled for now? Just curious. Enjoyed your video, Thanks for sharing.
Construction should be starting in the spring
@@HowFarmsWork Ok, thanks for getting back so fast. Have a good day.
Seems to me a lot of corn on the cob in the field?
Remember all that down corn we had?
i was thinking that my self
Ok, I was about to mention that myself about the unshelled corn. Forgot about the downed corn…
Better feed than volunteer corn come Spring! LOL
Ryan i don't know how else to put this out there if it OK with y'all can we send prayers to jaycob farms in Washington State they have lost everything including cows in a devastating flood thanks
It looks like it's better than JD.
Why are you comparing a brand new Kuhn baler with an old John Deere baler? Like maybe you should compare a brand new John Deere baler!
Hey Ryan did cat contact you yet ??
I haven't heard anything
@@HowFarmsWork should be soon maybe you call them ??
Well I’m sorry to say it but I’m thinking it’s time for you guys to get rid of the old builder somebody’s always working on it
