Not really up to date, but I really love Longtail. I think he deserves a bit more love than he gets because conceptually he's really interesting in a way that the narrative didn't explore. I mean he was Swiftpaw's mentor and Darkstripe's apprentice, he's surrounded by relationships with more interesting cats. I haven't really bought a warriors book in years but he's the cat I'd come back for if he got a super edition because I'd love to get inside his head a little. I know the fandom gives him a bit of attention but it always seems to be in the context of someone else and I don't think that quite gives him justice.
Honestly I agree poppyfrost had more going for her than most background cats. I liked her and Jayfeathers friendship. Kinda sad that they dont greet each other ever to show they were still friends or something similar.
Imagine this AU: in the final battle, Poppyfrost not only loses Sorreltail, but also Brackenfur, Cinderheart, and one of her kits(preferably Molepaw). She only has her mate, one kit, and her best friend, Jayfeather. She becomes almost as obsessed with keeping order and obeying the rules as Hollyleaf was to prevent the dark forest from becoming so powerful ever again. She seriously rejects SkyClan along with Sparkpelt, and when Berrynose is made deputy by "Bramblestar" she is a little pissed because Berrynose never had an apprentice, but is still proud for her mate. She starts realizing something is off with Bramblestar when Lionblaze is exiled because Lionblaze is Bramblestar's son. She voices her concerns to Jayfeather, and he agrees she should keep an eye on Bramblestar to see if he does any other weird stuff. And then Sparkpelt is injured. And then Jayfeather is exiled. Poppyfrost tries to convince Berrynose to support her and the rebellion and rise up against Bramblestar, but he refuses. In fact, Berrynose tells Bramblestar about the rebellion. After all her heartache and loss, she thought that at least her own mate would stand beside her. But he ratted her out. Idk where to go from here
Briarlight and how the Warriors team do almost every single disabled character dirty. I have always adored her positive attitude and how that rubbed off on others(Jayfeather especially. Yes let Jayfeather have friends!) But she wasn't just a "even though what I have went through is traumatic I have no braincells so I will be happy" sort of side character. We see Briarlight experience periods of depression and feeling useless, like she has no purpose. And she overcomes them! With the help of Jay, and her own will. I also think her exercises were an incredible new medical invention that should be talked about more. Finally, the clans learning something! So yeah, it is really upsetting to me that after all of this she was brushed off and killed off and barely mentioned again. One of my favourite characters consistently.
I thought her death scene was very well done actually. A shame that she isn't really mentionned afterwards, I agree with that. I mean, like you said, Jay was clearly very close to her, why did he not talk about her even once in the sequel?
i feel like she should've stayed alive to become a mediator like tree, he could've traveled to thunderclan camp regularly to meet with her like how medicine cats have half moon meetings
Her death was very well done, but I can't help but feel like she was killed off because the authors had too difficult of a time writing her in whenever the camp had been destroyed or something bad happened to it. It got a little 'repetitive' when they had two floods and a rockslide and everytime it felt like the narrative was just "we gotta make getting Briarlight out of camp for this really unnecessary filler/distraction a really big deal for a chapter". But the issue wasn't Briarlight... It's the Erin's not wanting to have to write a disabled character for regular clan life situations or give her more of a story or time in the books when she had so much more to give to them. The Erins could have done so much with her if only they chose to focus on her more then their filler plots for her. Imagine if Sleekwhisker tried to manipulate the Clans into fighting by causing trouble in Thunderclan (which would have fit in well as she was sneaking away from Skyclan camp all the time anyways and a battle would have been the perfect distraction to sneak away Yarrowleaf's kits), but Briarlight fought her off from destroying the medicine cat den during the time when they had the sickness going around. Instead of dying to the sickness, she could have died from her wounds. It would have worked because she wouldn't know or recognize Sleekwhisker due to never having met her, but if Sleekwhisker came back to camp covered in battle wounds it could have tied her back to the rogues a bit more (she could have gone to the rogues after and used their scent to mask any traces of Thunderclan, then say she got them from fighting a rogue off clan territory when she was hunting). Violetshine would be suspicious but before being able to confront her Sleekwhisker steals the kits. It would have fit perfectly because Briarlight dies one chapter before Sleekwhisker steals the kits. That could also give the Clans more of a reason to be weary of Skyclan too. They let Sleekwhisker into their clan and it resulted in Briarlight's death and could be more of a fresh wound for Juniperclaw being chosen as Tigerstar's deputy. Plus, it would have been way more bittersweet if she was also protecting Jayfeather. She would have died as a true warrior and that would have been way better than what we got in the books.
Literally ANYTHING on Swiftpaw!!! He’s such an overlooked character that gets boiled down to “the one who was selfish and impulsive and caused his friend to get horrifically scarred”, but there’s so much more people are overlooking. it might just be me and my desperately wanting this kid to be appreciated but considering his actions and his relationships with the others? The brotherly connection he had with Longtail and how it probably affected LT until the day he died? They killed him when he could have been a great contribution to the clan, not to mention how he and Ashfur were close and probably could have helped correct/prevent the ENTIRE level of chaos Ashfur singlehandedly has created the last 2-3 arcs
Yes!! Swiftpaw is legitimately one of my top five favorite characters. He died young, and in such a horrific, tragic way. I would love to learn more about him, I loved the little mention of him Brightheart said in one of the guidebooks. Tragic characters really have a hold on me, and idk I found his impulsive yet strangely noble reasoning for trying to fight the dogs to be so sad in a complex way; he took a warrior’s duty too seriously too young, and that’s a flaw I think many characters have, and would be interesting to look into
Not to mention, the way he tried to fight like a literal god for brightpaw to stay alive all because he was denied the one desire all clan kits had since they’re born: to be a warrior after validly completing training. He did everything he was supposed to, and he was a young cat going to a last resort.
Suggestion? Cloudstar! He is basically forgotten by the fandom entirely: and he has a lot to his character despite being thrown in a couple of super editions and his only P.O.V. pages are in a novella and a field guide that I didn't even bother reading. I just feel like he needs a lot more attention then what the fandom is currently getting (which is just a tad bit over 0), and his novella was actually well-written.
Ngl, Initially I disagreed because I thought you were talking about cloudtail becoming leader until Hello Honeyfernishere said "Leader of Skyclan". I still disagree because the novella was good. Not every cat needs a big story, most cat's don't even get a story.
I feel like Riverclan Mudfur would be really interesting to hear about, him being a medicine cat despite previously being a warrior with a mate and kits. I always found it odd that they allowed him to become one despite Leopardstar still being alive, it always felt like it was really tap dancing on the line between the whole medicine cats can’t have kits thing.
I've always been confused about that like they just all allowed him to be one but when Leafpool had kits she could have been exiled and when Yellowfang had kits her son became destined to be evil Apparently they don't care if males do but if a female does then there must be a huge plotline about how how bad it is All because Mothflight's life sucked
@@teonnakatz I mean the huge difference between Leafpool and Yellowfang and Mudfur is he had a mate and kits before he became a medicine cat while they had kits while they were already medicine cats. Plus he became a medicine cat after losing his mate and kits and most likely had no will to find another she-cat and just wanted to help people. Though I will admit it is still kinda weird a cat who once had a mate and kits is able to become one but it guess the technicality is that they can’t have a family while being one.
I want to say it’s okay for him? Maybe? The logic seems to be “if you’re a warrior beforehand, you can do whatever, but you can’t maintain past relationships or start new ones once you swear the oath.” Yellowfang was allowed to be mates Raggedstar before she was re-apprenticed. When she was apprenticed to Sagewhisker, she had to cut Raggedstar off. The problem was that she didn’t and had kits with him while she was a medicine cat. We don’t have many cases of kits being involved, and Moth Wing isn’t a great example since she made the rule. That said, she had issues while she was taking care of her kits-once she sent them away to the other Clans, she thought that was fine. She just couldn’t be their mom. So by that logic, Mudfur is probably fine? Being mates with Brightsky, losing her/their other 3 kits, and spoiling Leopardkit all happened while he was a warrior. So if he essentially disowned Leopardkit the moment he asked to be apprenticed to Brambleberry, he would be totally within the bounds of the code.
@@opaldust1979 True, I wish they would go more in depth about it so we can understand why. Though I'm also curious why they still have that rule? Like if they have help (ex. More than one medicine cat or an assistant like Brightheart) it shouldn't be a problem anymore, it would probably encourage more to become medicine cats and we wouldn't end up in the situations where clans don't have any. A warrior can become deputy after having an apprentice, why not medicine cats be able to have a mate and kits after having one too? Leafpool has already proved it isn't as big of a problem as they make it out to be.
So if Yellowfang fell in love with Raggedstar and gave birth before she started training under Sagewhisker everything would’ve been all good? At least that’s what Mudfur situation implies.
I like that Minnowtail accidentally caused the death of her sister as a kit and the implications it might have on her character. How does her guilt affect her world view? What goes on inside that head of yours Minnowtail? I want to know. She also just seems to have more personality than most modern RiverClan cats, and I like mouseminnow. I wanna see her do something cool in A Starless Clan.

I would absolutely love for Moonkitti to talk about Crookedstar’s Promise characters!! If I had to choose one for her to talk about, it would probably be Brambleberry! In my opinion, she’s one of the most underrated characters in the series!! She’s such a sweetheart to poor Crookedkit, and her scene in The Last Hope is very much overlooked!
@@rainswept_redwoods Speaking of messing up another RiverClan leader’s parents, I was so mad when they changed Brightsky’s name (Leopardstar’s mom, I think) into Nightsky all throughout Tallstar’s Revenge. During the book, I remember a WindClan patrol bumping into some RiverClan cats, and when I saw the name Nightsky in the patrol, I freaked out. IT’S BRIGHSKY, PEOPLE!

I actually think I would really like to see a discussion video about TwigBranch. She’s a character that I’ve always thought needed more development, because I really think that after vision of shadows, she was just kind of dropped by the narrative and told “ok TwigBranch, time to forget about your main character status and literally every ounce of an opinion or independence that you once had”, which it seems to me happened a lot with former main characters in the books. This is just a suggestion- I just think it would be an interesting topic
i love twigbranch so much!! I know her whole “flipping between clans” or whatever might’ve been annoying to some readers, but I found it oddly relatable?? She didn’t know where she fit in because she was outside the clans when she was younger, and the only home she ever knew of was Violetshine and Alderheart. She didn’t know where she really belonged. Twigbranch is great and I hope the Erins give her back her personality :(

Graypool is an interesting character to me. Mainly because weren't her and her sister weird exceptions to the half-clan code-breaking? I hope I remember correctly, but I'm pretty sure they were half Windclan, and that their Windclan father even made the clans have a custody battle that he lost. I just always thought that it was interesting that no one seemed to care about these two with this regard... And it also makes it sweeter that she took in two other half-clan kittens, and didn't care.

Right after I finished Crookedstar's Promise I thought the same thing. I just headcanon it as being maybe some sort of nuerological thing or just a general degradational health issue. With so many cats in WC someone's gotta have something like that!
although this character is VERY, V E R Y minor, what about the fox cub in hollyleaf's story? by extension, any creature that isn't a cat, if the fox cub doesn't have enough information for a full video? i always have an interest in minor characters, due to how they have the perfect setting for creating any kind of personality. side note- i love the little mane thing poppyfrost is depicted with!! it's really cute and seems to spark some character into poppyfrost
Yeah Hollyleaf befriending the fox cub was so cute and amazing. If there Erins had given her a power, it could have been something like being able to communicate with other animals. That would have been so useful.

Honestly I wonder if these books will ever have 'non-cats' involved in Clans. We already have Midnight, possibly Mouthclaw (since she could communicate with Goldenpelt was it??), and I think Millie in her graphic novels. Heck, even Midnight was asked to join the Clans, or settle nearby! It would be an interesting dynamic with the other Clans seeing another creature in a Clan, and how the battle techniques would have to adapt! There are many people in the Warrior Cats: Ultimate Edition community who make countless non-cat characters, and they all have great backstories! Theoretically since Coolabi (who owns Working Partners) owns UE, non-cats can be considered a pseudo-canon, since you'd think the company behind Warriors would say something about what could be considered fail rp.
@@umbrahawk6865 it’s not written down yet, but I do have an AU where a non-clan group that interacts with the clans has foxes and bobcats in their ranks. One of those foxes even becomes friends with Leafpool and helps her with [spoilers], and Leaf’s story, at least, does end happier. Of course, since this story involves introducing the concept of total war to the setting, things tend to get very bloody. The line, “I’m going to butcher that piece of fox dung!”, is all I can really say on that situation.
I would like to hear your opinion on Sol! I was so upset with his character because he had sooo much potential and was such a different villain, but in the end they did not do anything with him, it's probably one of the most disappointing plots in warriors for me personally. Or maybe talk about Warriors villains/antagonists in general? Related to that I'd also love to see Blackstar content but that's mainly because as you did with Poppyfrost I made up a bunch of headcanons that make him way more interesting than he actually is, whoops
Definitely agree. The Erins had so many chances to do something interesting with Sol; interacting with the Dark Forest, being discussed in relation to the afterlife ideas of the Broken Code, or just...doing anything of significance in Omen of the Stars. But at this point, I just want any sense of closure for his character.
Blackstar is also my side character to throw a million headcanons on to make him interesting, some of my headcanons that i've held since i was an angsty tween got canonized in this novella which was ???? wild??
I'm probably one of the very few people here who share this sentiment but I would enjoy a video about Sootfur and Rainwhisker. They're my favorite brothers, but honestly, I don't really know why I like them so much.
Again, I have a liking for Barkface. I too, am still not 100% sure why I like him as a sort-of background character, but I guess he has a mysterious edge to him that I liked in Tallstar's Revenge, as well as in Moonrise of New Prophecy.
Suggestion! Snowkit! I wanna hear you talk about him and his relationship with his mother and the other kits in the nursery, how his helicopter parent could've affected him if he'd have lived, ect!
hm, considering his disability i don't think it's super fair to call speckletail a helicopter parent, since that has a pretty negative connotation. the clans don't rly understand disabilities very well and it makes total sense to me that speckletail would be very attentive and considered for the wellbeing of her kit who's deaf and is at a significant disadvantage compared to to other kits.
My favourite Warrior cats character, that is not a POV character, is Birchfall, against all odds. I don't know why, but his tragic story of being the only alive kit in his litter during the journey from the forest to the lake stuck with me for some reason. And I was really upset that he didn't get any development in Omen of the Stars, when he was the parent of two main characters. So, I would like to hear your opinion about him.
birchfall is so situationally interesting! his little life is so fucking tragic & i know it wasnt intentional but this man has lost Everything. i hc that he & whitewing aren't together anymore (since we havent seen them interact much or at all lately) & he's the only one of his siblings still alive, both his parents are dead now, & one of his kits fucked off to shadowclan. not to mention he was a df trainee & must've seen ivypool, his own daughter, there
@@suhotdog3135 idk! we've only seen cats break up a couple times & whitewing and birchfall are so incredibly in the background that we hardly ever see them, let alone seeing them together. its likely the writers just forgot they were mates, but i like to imagine they had a falling out & broke up when ivy & dove were apprentices
I think after the current arc an attempt at a Snowtuft video would be interesting considering how much of a background character he was prior, but in terms of more recent stuff I’d personally really like to see a video on Hawkwing, Thornclaw, or Leafstar. Idk I just think they’re neat
I feel like Mousefur got the short end of the stick. I love her character arch and her relationship with Longtail. She is one of the few female characters that never took a mate and didn't want kits. I think she's a super strong female character that just got kinda tossed away as soon as she was an elder. Sure she was snarky, but we never got to really see her warrior capabilities and I just feel like we missed out on so much.
I wish she wasn't tossed away as quickly as she was, but honestly I also see it as kind of fitting. Mousefur always struck me as being kind of introverted (not shy, just not a socialite). Maybe that's just me though.
Hazeltail and Mousewhisker lack character? How dare you. How could you possibly say such a thing? You- You- are actually right, yeah. As far as canon is concerned they're just throw in's for whenever they need another random character to use. None of their few moments were inteonal at all, and either way Poppyfrost definitely got far more characterization than either of them. But still, Hazeltail my girl.
Honestly I totally get why she was so scared. Imagen your children coming back like "Mom, we were almost killed today" . Not to mention how much the warriors suck at keeping their cats alive.

petal from dawn of the clans is my absolute favorite character, she’s a semi background character in an underrated arc and has an insane story. i also think she was in love with clear sky but i haven’t really read them in three years so i could be remembering wrong lol. i’ve never seen any videos about her.

I’d love to see you talk about my boy Crowfeather and how messed up his mental state is. Like basically every cat he’s ever loved is dead and he doesn’t seem to take death very well.
I personally headcannon that Crowfeather was pretty close to his littermates Downkit and Hillkit but both of them died of unknown causes just a little bit before becoming apprentices (like 4-5 moons old) Experiencing the death of his littermates at such a young age caused him to become a cold and bitter apprentice. And of course it only got worse as he lost more of his loved ones as time went on.
Yes, Po3 apprentices are some of the only background characters anyone remembers after the fact, and they deserve it! I almost never thought about the multiple interactions Poppy has with Jayfeather but it is really cool that he has a friend in her

My favourite, admittedly kind of obscure character is Spiresight from Tigerheart's Shadow. If you think there's anything worth talking about surrounding him, I'd be all ears! I just think he's funny and I like the black cats, I had a black cat growing up and they're just cute.
I feel this. One of my favorite characters is Birchfall. I just love noticing all the weird things he does in the background. In one of the Power of Three books him and Berrynose are hanging out for the ENTIRE BOOK and talking crap about Whitewing even though Whitewing was supposedly Birchpaw's best friend and his later wife not even 3 books later. Then he's this middle aged dude showing up in the DF like "how do you do fellow kids". Hes just funny to me lol. He was so tragic in New Prophecy and then the next arcs hes a random weirdo backgrounder with main character kids and i love him.
I thought he had calmed down after the mess with crossing shadowclan's border, but it's hilarious to think that he just kept on behaving like an ass for the whole time that our three main characters are in the moutains.
Thoughts on Thornclaw. He is one of my favorite cats because of how trauma in his kithood seems to have translasted into him being over obsessed with patroling and that might have been how he was manipulated into the DF. How his relationship with Blossom might have started, both had siblings that were disabled (canonically for Blossom and possible for Thorn) and mothers that focused on them more
Icecloud and Foxleap! Please! I love them so so much and they were done dirty by the Erins when they were secretly dead while Dawn of the Clans was coming out and not a single person thought they'd be gone when we got back to the modern clans in Vision of Shadows. I, for one, was heartbroken by this development.
Maybe Sunstar? He was a great guy that gets forgotten about way too much. Also his brother Featherwhisker being his medicine cat is certainly something worth noting
I really love that Jayfeather and Poppyfrost are close friends. Brings back good memories of my friendships in my youth. Almost all my friends were boys and I was just a goofy young girl so it’s something sweet for me.

I would love to hear about Leafstar from you! To me she was the only leader with braincells during TBC and I've always loved her for her thoughtful approach to problems. Or maybe a video about female leaders in general, since I feel there's a problem with them often being depicted as less competent/irrational compared to male leaders (I feel like Mistystar especially suffered from that)

I'd like to hear more about Purdy please. He's always been a helpful, happy and welcoming cat (even to the grumpy ones) and he helped shape many of the young warrior's lives. He gave a lot to the clans even though he wasn't born one.

And the little friendships he forms with other cats (besides the elders) are so good! He has so much warmth to him and a vid for him would be amazing

Purdy would be a nice character to talk about- he was (and still is) one of my favourite characters, his place in the clan is actually very important he had a important role in the second series where he helps them find there way to Midnight, he ends up helping them AGAIN and then joining the clans, I love how he would bore people to sleep with his stories 😋🥲 and I was so sad when he died R.I.P Purdy, I haven’t finished vision of shadows so I don’t know if he made it to starclan and made any other appearances but he would be an interesting cat to talk about since he was originally an older kittypet (though then become a loner ig) that joined thunder clan to spend his last years there.
I've always had a soft spot for Dustpelt. After TPB he seemed to be one of the fees that still had some semblance of personality left from his initial characterization and kept it that way, one of the few that was still quite traditional in regards to outsiders Also personally the reason I like your talking videos is because I like your interpretations and I like that you don't assume all of what you interpret from the books is canon or was intended, something I always felt Warrior cats commentary lacked a lot, awareness of what the product really was
bit of a weird one, but I'd love to hear your thoughts about Half Moon. I really like her for what she COULD be, not what she is, the idea of this cat who was thrust into this holy destiny she had no say in, her only love a man who is doomed to forget their relationship, and whom she is doomed to be united with only in death. thats... not really what she is in the books but i think shes cool.
i love how as soon as she has kits, Jayfeather, Mousewhisker, and Foxleap all show up to babysit out of no where. it’s so cute especially with Mousewhisker being close with Cherrypaw and Molepaw during their apprenticeship.
I liked that Jayfeather was willing to pretend to watch them practice jumps and whatnot. He really doesn't lend that kind of patience to anyone else in the clan
Things I want you to talk about: -The wasted potential of Half Moon -Finleap (Specifically how the Warriors fandom lets one mistake define his whole character.) -The fact that everyone hates Reedshine even though she did nothing wrong.
I'm actually working on a Po3 rewrite where Poppyfrost is a surprise POV character and actually ends up being the 4th cat- though Firestar was meant to be- by Jayfeather stopping her from dying- she gained a power- which is that she can see the ghosts of the future. Every so often, something will happen around her that will happen in the future and she will basically get visual prophecies. I'm still considering if she will only be able to see the cats who will be dead soon after or during that event + silhouettes of the other cats. I love Poppyfrost so much.
Russetfur has always been a character that’s really fascinated me. Her roots could give her an interesting and unique outlook on life that other characters would never consider since she’s (in my opinion) trying make it seem like she’s a normal clan-born cat like everyone else. I think the Erins did her character a huge disservice near the end of her life and I wish they’d fleshed her out more. Brambleberry is another cat I adore who I think doesn’t get enough love. She was one of Crookedstar’s primary maternal figures, along with Echomist (lowkey ship it ngl) and he was so torn up by her death so it’s clear she meant a lot to him. Also Midnight. Please. What is Midnight? Who is Midnight? I want to know.
I love you to talk about Lionblaze and Cinderheart's second litter. Spotfur has had some significant charecterization, but her littermates Snaptooth and Flywhisker have only gotten crumbs, and then leave to become Kittypets, something pretty rare for Clan cats.

WILLOWPELT!! She had SUCH an interesting life when you actually look into it all. Even though I feel like a lot of it was unintentional, she's easily one of the most interesting bg characters to me. I think a decent part of that is due to being darkstripes mother like, I would so love to one day get her perspective on everything she experienced.

What's your opinion on Thunder(Star) and Lightningtail's friendship? I just really like their dynamic (plus it was fun to read.) And it is just me or is knowing that ever since they were kits, Lightningtail got his name by following Thunder around? To me, both of these characters feel real, even their strong connection to each other feels...✨R E A L✨. These two are so wholesome together yet bonded with each other like no other character (possibly) did. I just love them both to bits!
The only copy of books I own with a mistake is actually a DOTC book with “Lightingtail” in it instead of Lightningtail, its my pride in joy so he is kinda special to me

Not really up to date, but I really love Longtail. I think he deserves a bit more love than he gets because conceptually he's really interesting in a way that the narrative didn't explore. I mean he was Swiftpaw's mentor and Darkstripe's apprentice, he's surrounded by relationships with more interesting cats. I haven't really bought a warriors book in years but he's the cat I'd come back for if he got a super edition because I'd love to get inside his head a little. I know the fandom gives him a bit of attention but it always seems to be in the context of someone else and I don't think that quite gives him justice.

Honestly I agree poppyfrost had more going for her than most background cats. I liked her and Jayfeathers friendship. Kinda sad that they dont greet each other ever to show they were still friends or something similar.
Imagine this AU: in the final battle, Poppyfrost not only loses Sorreltail, but also Brackenfur, Cinderheart, and one of her kits(preferably Molepaw). She only has her mate, one kit, and her best friend, Jayfeather. She becomes almost as obsessed with keeping order and obeying the rules as Hollyleaf was to prevent the dark forest from becoming so powerful ever again. She seriously rejects SkyClan along with Sparkpelt, and when Berrynose is made deputy by "Bramblestar" she is a little pissed because Berrynose never had an apprentice, but is still proud for her mate. She starts realizing something is off with Bramblestar when Lionblaze is exiled because Lionblaze is Bramblestar's son. She voices her concerns to Jayfeather, and he agrees she should keep an eye on Bramblestar to see if he does any other weird stuff. And then Sparkpelt is injured. And then Jayfeather is exiled. Poppyfrost tries to convince Berrynose to support her and the rebellion and rise up against Bramblestar, but he refuses. In fact, Berrynose tells Bramblestar about the rebellion. After all her heartache and loss, she thought that at least her own mate would stand beside her. But he ratted her out. Idk where to go from here

Briarlight and how the Warriors team do almost every single disabled character dirty.
I have always adored her positive attitude and how that rubbed off on others(Jayfeather especially. Yes let Jayfeather have friends!)
But she wasn't just a "even though what I have went through is traumatic I have no braincells so I will be happy" sort of side character. We see Briarlight experience periods of depression and feeling useless, like she has no purpose. And she overcomes them! With the help of Jay, and her own will. I also think her exercises were an incredible new medical invention that should be talked about more. Finally, the clans learning something!
So yeah, it is really upsetting to me that after all of this she was brushed off and killed off and barely mentioned again. One of my favourite characters consistently.
I thought her death scene was very well done actually. A shame that she isn't really mentionned afterwards, I agree with that. I mean, like you said, Jay was clearly very close to her, why did he not talk about her even once in the sequel?

i feel like she should've stayed alive to become a mediator like tree, he could've traveled to thunderclan camp regularly to meet with her like how medicine cats have half moon meetings
Her death was very well done, but I can't help but feel like she was killed off because the authors had too difficult of a time writing her in whenever the camp had been destroyed or something bad happened to it. It got a little 'repetitive' when they had two floods and a rockslide and everytime it felt like the narrative was just "we gotta make getting Briarlight out of camp for this really unnecessary filler/distraction a really big deal for a chapter". But the issue wasn't Briarlight... It's the Erin's not wanting to have to write a disabled character for regular clan life situations or give her more of a story or time in the books when she had so much more to give to them. The Erins could have done so much with her if only they chose to focus on her more then their filler plots for her.
Imagine if Sleekwhisker tried to manipulate the Clans into fighting by causing trouble in Thunderclan (which would have fit in well as she was sneaking away from Skyclan camp all the time anyways and a battle would have been the perfect distraction to sneak away Yarrowleaf's kits), but Briarlight fought her off from destroying the medicine cat den during the time when they had the sickness going around. Instead of dying to the sickness, she could have died from her wounds. It would have worked because she wouldn't know or recognize Sleekwhisker due to never having met her, but if Sleekwhisker came back to camp covered in battle wounds it could have tied her back to the rogues a bit more (she could have gone to the rogues after and used their scent to mask any traces of Thunderclan, then say she got them from fighting a rogue off clan territory when she was hunting). Violetshine would be suspicious but before being able to confront her Sleekwhisker steals the kits. It would have fit perfectly because Briarlight dies one chapter before Sleekwhisker steals the kits. That could also give the Clans more of a reason to be weary of Skyclan too. They let Sleekwhisker into their clan and it resulted in Briarlight's death and could be more of a fresh wound for Juniperclaw being chosen as Tigerstar's deputy. Plus, it would have been way more bittersweet if she was also protecting Jayfeather. She would have died as a true warrior and that would have been way better than what we got in the books.

He’s such an overlooked character that gets boiled down to “the one who was selfish and impulsive and caused his friend to get horrifically scarred”, but there’s so much more people are overlooking. it might just be me and my desperately wanting this kid to be appreciated but considering his actions and his relationships with the others? The brotherly connection he had with Longtail and how it probably affected LT until the day he died? They killed him when he could have been a great contribution to the clan, not to mention how he and Ashfur were close and probably could have helped correct/prevent the ENTIRE level of chaos Ashfur singlehandedly has created the last 2-3 arcs

Yes!! Swiftpaw is legitimately one of my top five favorite characters. He died young, and in such a horrific, tragic way. I would love to learn more about him, I loved the little mention of him Brightheart said in one of the guidebooks. Tragic characters really have a hold on me, and idk I found his impulsive yet strangely noble reasoning for trying to fight the dogs to be so sad in a complex way; he took a warrior’s duty too seriously too young, and that’s a flaw I think many characters have, and would be interesting to look into

I feel like Riverclan Mudfur would be really interesting to hear about, him being a medicine cat despite previously being a warrior with a mate and kits. I always found it odd that they allowed him to become one despite Leopardstar still being alive, it always felt like it was really tap dancing on the line between the whole medicine cats can’t have kits thing.
I've always been confused about that like they just all allowed him to be one but when Leafpool had kits she could have been exiled and when Yellowfang had kits her son became destined to be evil

Plus he became a medicine cat after losing his mate and kits and most likely had no will to find another she-cat and just wanted to help people. Though I will admit it is still kinda weird a cat who once had a mate and kits is able to become one but it guess the technicality is that they can’t have a family while being one.
I want to say it’s okay for him? Maybe? The logic seems to be “if you’re a warrior beforehand, you can do whatever, but you can’t maintain past relationships or start new ones once you swear the oath.”
Yellowfang was allowed to be mates Raggedstar before she was re-apprenticed. When she was apprenticed to Sagewhisker, she had to cut Raggedstar off. The problem was that she didn’t and had kits with him while she was a medicine cat.
We don’t have many cases of kits being involved, and Moth Wing isn’t a great example since she made the rule. That said, she had issues while she was taking care of her kits-once she sent them away to the other Clans, she thought that was fine. She just couldn’t be their mom.
So by that logic, Mudfur is probably fine? Being mates with Brightsky, losing her/their other 3 kits, and spoiling Leopardkit all happened while he was a warrior. So if he essentially disowned Leopardkit the moment he asked to be apprenticed to Brambleberry, he would be totally within the bounds of the code.
@@opaldust1979 True, I wish they would go more in depth about it so we can understand why. Though I'm also curious why they still have that rule? Like if they have help (ex. More than one medicine cat or an assistant like Brightheart) it shouldn't be a problem anymore, it would probably encourage more to become medicine cats and we wouldn't end up in the situations where clans don't have any. A warrior can become deputy after having an apprentice, why not medicine cats be able to have a mate and kits after having one too? Leafpool has already proved it isn't as big of a problem as they make it out to be.
So if Yellowfang fell in love with Raggedstar and gave birth before she started training under Sagewhisker everything would’ve been all good?

In my opinion, she’s one of the most underrated characters in the series!! She’s such a sweetheart to poor Crookedkit, and her scene in The Last Hope is very much overlooked!

I actually think I would really like to see a discussion video about TwigBranch. She’s a character that I’ve always thought needed more development, because I really think that after vision of shadows, she was just kind of dropped by the narrative and told “ok TwigBranch, time to forget about your main character status and literally every ounce of an opinion or independence that you once had”, which it seems to me happened a lot with former main characters in the books. This is just a suggestion- I just think it would be an interesting topic

Graypool is an interesting character to me. Mainly because weren't her and her sister weird exceptions to the half-clan code-breaking? I hope I remember correctly, but I'm pretty sure they were half Windclan, and that their Windclan father even made the clans have a custody battle that he lost. I just always thought that it was interesting that no one seemed to care about these two with this regard... And it also makes it sweeter that she took in two other half-clan kittens, and didn't care.

Honestly I wonder if these books will ever have 'non-cats' involved in Clans. We already have Midnight, possibly Mouthclaw (since she could communicate with Goldenpelt was it??), and I think Millie in her graphic novels. Heck, even Midnight was asked to join the Clans, or settle nearby! It would be an interesting dynamic with the other Clans seeing another creature in a Clan, and how the battle techniques would have to adapt!
There are many people in the Warrior Cats: Ultimate Edition community who make countless non-cat characters, and they all have great backstories! Theoretically since Coolabi (who owns Working Partners) owns UE, non-cats can be considered a pseudo-canon, since you'd think the company behind Warriors would say something about what could be considered fail rp.
@@umbrahawk6865 it’s not written down yet, but I do have an AU where a non-clan group that interacts with the clans has foxes and bobcats in their ranks. One of those foxes even becomes friends with Leafpool and helps her with [spoilers], and Leaf’s story, at least, does end happier. Of course, since this story involves introducing the concept of total war to the setting, things tend to get very bloody. The line, “I’m going to butcher that piece of fox dung!”, is all I can really say on that situation.
I would like to hear your opinion on Sol! I was so upset with his character because he had sooo much potential and was such a different villain, but in the end they did not do anything with him, it's probably one of the most disappointing plots in warriors for me personally. Or maybe talk about Warriors villains/antagonists in general?
Related to that I'd also love to see Blackstar content but that's mainly because as you did with Poppyfrost I made up a bunch of headcanons that make him way more interesting than he actually is, whoops

The Erins had so many chances to do something interesting with Sol; interacting with the Dark Forest, being discussed in relation to the afterlife ideas of the Broken Code, or just...doing anything of significance in Omen of the Stars. But at this point, I just want any sense of closure for his character.

hm, considering his disability i don't think it's super fair to call speckletail a helicopter parent, since that has a pretty negative connotation. the clans don't rly understand disabilities very well and it makes total sense to me that speckletail would be very attentive and considered for the wellbeing of her kit who's deaf and is at a significant disadvantage compared to to other kits.
I think he'd find a way to fight well. He would have made a good nursery tom tbh.
My favourite Warrior cats character, that is not a POV character, is Birchfall, against all odds. I don't know why, but his tragic story of being the only alive kit in his litter during the journey from the forest to the lake stuck with me for some reason. And I was really upset that he didn't get any development in Omen of the Stars, when he was the parent of two main characters. So, I would like to hear your opinion about him.
birchfall is so situationally interesting! his little life is so fucking tragic & i know it wasnt intentional but this man has lost Everything. i hc that he & whitewing aren't together anymore (since we havent seen them interact much or at all lately) & he's the only one of his siblings still alive, both his parents are dead now, & one of his kits fucked off to shadowclan. not to mention he was a df trainee & must've seen ivypool, his own daughter, there

I feel like Mousefur got the short end of the stick. I love her character arch and her relationship with Longtail. She is one of the few female characters that never took a mate and didn't want kits. I think she's a super strong female character that just got kinda tossed away as soon as she was an elder. Sure she was snarky, but we never got to really see her warrior capabilities and I just feel like we missed out on so much.

I’d love to see you talk about my boy Crowfeather and how messed up his mental state is. Like basically every cat he’s ever loved is dead and he doesn’t seem to take death very well.
I personally headcannon that Crowfeather was pretty close to his littermates Downkit and Hillkit but both of them died of unknown causes just a little bit before becoming apprentices (like 4-5 moons old) Experiencing the death of his littermates at such a young age caused him to become a cold and bitter apprentice. And of course it only got worse as he lost more of his loved ones as time went on.

Yes, Po3 apprentices are some of the only background characters anyone remembers after the fact, and they deserve it! I almost never thought about the multiple interactions Poppy has with Jayfeather but it is really cool that he has a friend in her

My favourite, admittedly kind of obscure character is Spiresight from Tigerheart's Shadow. If you think there's anything worth talking about surrounding him, I'd be all ears! I just think he's funny and I like the black cats, I had a black cat growing up and they're just cute.

I feel this. One of my favorite characters is Birchfall. I just love noticing all the weird things he does in the background. In one of the Power of Three books him and Berrynose are hanging out for the ENTIRE BOOK and talking crap about Whitewing even though Whitewing was supposedly Birchpaw's best friend and his later wife not even 3 books later. Then he's this middle aged dude showing up in the DF like "how do you do fellow kids". Hes just funny to me lol. He was so tragic in New Prophecy and then the next arcs hes a random weirdo backgrounder with main character kids and i love him.
I thought he had calmed down after the mess with crossing shadowclan's border, but it's hilarious to think that he just kept on behaving like an ass for the whole time that our three main characters are in the moutains.

Thoughts on Thornclaw. He is one of my favorite cats because of how trauma in his kithood seems to have translasted into him being over obsessed with patroling and that might have been how he was manipulated into the DF. How his relationship with Blossom might have started, both had siblings that were disabled (canonically for Blossom and possible for Thorn) and mothers that focused on them more
Icecloud and Foxleap! Please! I love them so so much and they were done dirty by the Erins when they were secretly dead while Dawn of the Clans was coming out and not a single person thought they'd be gone when we got back to the modern clans in Vision of Shadows. I, for one, was heartbroken by this development.

I really love that Jayfeather and Poppyfrost are close friends. Brings back good memories of my friendships in my youth. Almost all my friends were boys and I was just a goofy young girl so it’s something sweet for me.

I would love to hear about Leafstar from you! To me she was the only leader with braincells during TBC and I've always loved her for her thoughtful approach to problems. Or maybe a video about female leaders in general, since I feel there's a problem with them often being depicted as less competent/irrational compared to male leaders (I feel like Mistystar especially suffered from that)

I'd like to hear more about Purdy please. He's always been a helpful, happy and welcoming cat (even to the grumpy ones) and he helped shape many of the young warrior's lives. He gave a lot to the clans even though he wasn't born one.
was just about to comment for purdy!! he's such a fun character to dig deep into; stitching together all the little bits of dialogue and description he has throughout the books makes up such a sweet and caring character. And the little friendships he forms with other cats (besides the elders) are so good! He has so much warmth to him and a vid for him would be amazing

Purdy would be a nice character to talk about- he was (and still is) one of my favourite characters, his place in the clan is actually very important he had a important role in the second series where he helps them find there way to Midnight, he ends up helping them AGAIN and then joining the clans, I love how he would bore people to sleep with his stories 😋🥲 and I was so sad when he died R.I.P Purdy, I haven’t finished vision of shadows so I don’t know if he made it to starclan and made any other appearances but he would be an interesting cat to talk about since he was originally an older kittypet (though then become a loner ig) that joined thunder clan to spend his last years there.
I also love Poppyfrost!!!! Her doubts about Berrynose is so interesting and her relationship with Jayfeather is so sweet!!! Oh I love her

I've always had a soft spot for Dustpelt. After TPB he seemed to be one of the fees that still had some semblance of personality left from his initial characterization and kept it that way, one of the few that was still quite traditional in regards to outsiders
Also personally the reason I like your talking videos is because I like your interpretations and I like that you don't assume all of what you interpret from the books is canon or was intended, something I always felt Warrior cats commentary lacked a lot, awareness of what the product really was
bit of a weird one, but I'd love to hear your thoughts about Half Moon. I really like her for what she COULD be, not what she is, the idea of this cat who was thrust into this holy destiny she had no say in, her only love a man who is doomed to forget their relationship, and whom she is doomed to be united with only in death. thats... not really what she is in the books but i think shes cool.

i love how as soon as she has kits, Jayfeather, Mousewhisker, and Foxleap all show up to babysit out of no where. it’s so cute especially with Mousewhisker being close with Cherrypaw and Molepaw during their apprenticeship.
I liked that Jayfeather was willing to pretend to watch them practice jumps and whatnot. He really doesn't lend that kind of patience to anyone else in the clan

I'm actually working on a Po3 rewrite where Poppyfrost is a surprise POV character and actually ends up being the 4th cat- though Firestar was meant to be- by Jayfeather stopping her from dying- she gained a power- which is that she can see the ghosts of the future. Every so often, something will happen around her that will happen in the future and she will basically get visual prophecies. I'm still considering if she will only be able to see the cats who will be dead soon after or during that event + silhouettes of the other cats. I love Poppyfrost so much.

Russetfur has always been a character that’s really fascinated me. Her roots could give her an interesting and unique outlook on life that other characters would never consider since she’s (in my opinion) trying make it seem like she’s a normal clan-born cat like everyone else. I think the Erins did her character a huge disservice near the end of her life and I wish they’d fleshed her out more.
Brambleberry is another cat I adore who I think doesn’t get enough love. She was one of Crookedstar’s primary maternal figures, along with Echomist (lowkey ship it ngl) and he was so torn up by her death so it’s clear she meant a lot to him.
Also Midnight. Please. What is Midnight? Who is Midnight? I want to know.
I love you to talk about Lionblaze and Cinderheart's second litter. Spotfur has had some significant charecterization, but her littermates Snaptooth and Flywhisker have only gotten crumbs, and then leave to become Kittypets, something pretty rare for Clan cats.

WILLOWPELT!! She had SUCH an interesting life when you actually look into it all. Even though I feel like a lot of it was unintentional, she's easily one of the most interesting bg characters to me. I think a decent part of that is due to being darkstripes mother like, I would so love to one day get her perspective on everything she experienced.

What's your opinion on Thunder(Star) and Lightningtail's friendship?
I just really like their dynamic (plus it was fun to read.) And it is just me or is knowing that ever since they were kits, Lightningtail got his name by following Thunder around? To me, both of these characters feel real, even their strong connection to each other feels...✨R E A L✨. These two are so wholesome together yet bonded with each other like no other character (possibly) did. I just love them both to bits!
The only copy of books I own with a mistake is actually a DOTC book with “Lightingtail” in it instead of Lightningtail, its my pride in joy so he is kinda special to me
