  • Back to winter camping basics! I go hiking in a nature conservation area and spend the night under a tarp shelter. Temperatures ranged from -5C to -10C, with light snowfall during the night. This time my trip was less about hiking and more about enjoying winter camping and recharging in outdoors. Thanks for joining in!
    Uuvi's description of the area:
    "Korpudden offers a fantastic mountainous vantage point from which to enjoy the splendour of the view down onto Lohjanjärvi. The habitat in the area is versatile, providing surface rock, hazel grove, and spruce forest - there is always something special to see."

    Taival Outdoors is a channel about the great outdoors, spending time in nature doing everything from day hikes and overnight adventures to bikepacking and multi-day wilderness backpacking. Trekking is close to my heart, but I’m not tied to any particular "genre" like ultralight or bushcraft - instead I do what I've found through my experience in the wild to work the best for me. I'm also making gear reviews and skill videos based on what I actually use and how I operate in nature. Thanks for watching!

    Awesome video!
    I clicked cuz I saw your Hill people kit bag and thinking about getting that V2 , I jave the snubby for now. I kept watching bcuz the video quality is amazing. I read you were using gorpo 8, Do you mind sharing your camera settings?
    1080 or 4k ?
    Linear or wide shot?
    What color set up on the gopro ?
    External mic ?
    Sorry for all the questions. I'm actually interested in upgrading my Gorpro and this video motivated me.
    Thanks in advance.

    • @TaivalOutdoors
      @TaivalOutdoors  Před 3 lety

      Sure thing! I'm using the second narrowest lens, so yeah I think that was Linear. This is actually "2.7K 60fps" and then slightly reframed to standard 2560x1440 resolution. I've found that shooting 4K drains battery too fast and is quite heavy to edit, this seems to be a good compromise that still allows slight zooming every now and then without huge loss in quality. Basic GoPro color and high bitrate, internal mic. I do color correcting in post where needed and always do audio editing too. Not using external mics because the Media Mod compromises the waterproofness of the camera, or so I've understood.
      I also try to keep my filming setup as light and convenient as possible, to keep the effort required to pull up the camera minimal.

      @JasperBzone Před 3 lety +1

      @@TaivalOutdoors Thanks fro responding! That is awesome. I agree, 4K does eat up alot of storage plus its stressful when editing. Well, this definitely makes me want to go back to go pro again when going outdoors. Keep up the great work man!

    • @TaivalOutdoors
      @TaivalOutdoors  Před 3 lety

      UF PRO combat shirt? Yeah I ordered 2XL which is indeed two sizes up, but I just ordered based on their sizing chart and the fit is spot on. I have their Striker XT jacket and for that I went with XL. My review (in Finnish but has English subtitles): czcams.com/video/ESv3c7jXWV8/video.html

    Why no fires ? A fire-pit with reflector would have been much cozier and great to cook on.

    • @TaivalOutdoors
      @TaivalOutdoors  Před 3 lety +1

      You're right, but unfortunately Finland's everyman's rights don't include open fires. There are certain locations and areas where that is possible though, but it's quite limited.

      Mukava kuulla! Tämä ei ole 4K, sitä kokeilin kerran viime vuonna, mutta syö akut ja muistikortit niin nopeasti etten jatkanut. Kalustona vajaan vuoden nyt GoPro Hero 8 Black ja toisinaan myös Samsung Galaxy S9+. Sitä ennen pelkkä puhelin ja gimbal.
