    May we get the short shifter link? And how has it held up?

      Not a problem boss! Here is the link:

      I am not too sure what you mean by "held up", but the base of the short shifter screws into the linkage housing with 4 provided screws, and the shifter lever itself slots into the shift linkage. Hope this helps!

    Quick question. There is no plate between the transmission and the block?

    • @TunerFaction
      @TunerFaction  Před rokem +1

      Hey Olvin! I'm not sure I'm understanding your question. There should be three plates between the transmission and block (in order from the engine to the transmission): flywheel, clutch, pressure plate. Does that answer your question?

    • @Olrolo24
      @Olrolo24 Před rokem +1

      @@TunerFaction well like many other engines they have like a 1/16 thick plate or laminate that goes betwin the transmission bellhousing and the block, its more like a spacer I might be wrong and the 2j dont need that. Im in the prosses of putting mine together but I took this appart 2 years ago and I already dont remember how everything go😅😅

      @TunerFaction  Před rokem +1

      @@Olrolo24 Oh I get what you are saying! To my knowledge the 2JZ does not need that plate for the R154 transmission or the T56. It may need it for other transmission adapters but it should come with the adapter kit if you are using one!

    Tried replacing my shifter housing following the steps provided and now my R154 wont go into gear. Beyond frustrated because it shifted perfectly fine before I opened it up. Any suggestions?

    • @TunerFaction
      @TunerFaction  Před 3 lety +1

      Hello man, I'm really sorry to hear that your r154 isn't shifting into gear! So I'm assuming the transmission is still out of the car correct? And may I ask what happens when you try to shift into gear? Does the shifter not move at all from its neutral position? Does it move like it's going into gear but it doesn't actually engage the gear?
      One of the issues it could be is that when you went to reinstall everything, the shift forks weren't lined up. This would cause the transmission to not be able to wobble side to side like it's in neutral and the shifter would only be able to move forward and backwards, not side to side. Another thing that could be an issue is with the reverse detent ball (That little ball bearing that goes into the side of the extension housing). If that was installed incorrectly or not at all, the transmission will have trouble going into gear.
      Please let me know what's going on, and lets figure this out together!

      @@TunerFaction hey man thanks for the info the shift forks seem to be in neutral when I pulled it apart and reinstalled. The shifter lever will not move forward or reverse and is very stiff moving side to side. I reinstalled all of the ball bearings correctly with the ball bearing first then spring along with the screw last. I’m not really sure what the issue can be I literally have the same set up as you with the hypertune (cubespeed knockoff) extended shifter. At this point I’m completely lost.

    • @TunerFaction
      @TunerFaction  Před 3 lety +3

      @@tredizzle83 Alright man thanks for the info! There is only a number of things that this issue could be so lets get it figured out together! So one simple test I would like you to perform is to try spinning the output shaft with your hand while holding the input shaft with your other hand. If the input and output shaft spin together when you try and spin the output shaft, then your transmission is in gear and I'm 99% sure that your shift forks aren't aligned properly. One thing I should mention is that even if you had the shift forks lined up before you went to reinstall everything, one problem with these tranny's is that when you go to reinstall the extension housing, it's super easy to bump one of the shift forks by mistake and put the tranny into gear. If this is the case, you will have to remove the extension housing, re-align the shift forks, and then carefully put it back together. If the output shaft spins independently of the input shaft when you go to spin the output shaft with your hand, then your transmission is in neutral and I have a few more suggestions on what the problem may be! Don't worry man, we will get this problem solved together!

    • @tredizzle83
      @tredizzle83 Před 3 lety +1

      Yesssss the input shaft and the output shaft do spin together which means yes it is in gear. Next process is how do I get it back in neutral?

    • @TunerFaction
      @TunerFaction  Před 3 lety +2

      @@tredizzle83 Sorry for the late reply! Ok that's good to hear! That means that the shift forks are out of alignment with each other. Now you're going to hate me for saying this, but the only way to get the transmission back to neutral is to remove the extension housing, and realign the shift forks after you take off the extension housing.
      I know you said you did it already, but in the video at 2:01, those are the shift forks that need to be in alignment. Like i said in my last message, it's super easy to bump the shift forks into gear when you're reinstalling the extension housing and putting everything back together so just make sure when you put everything back together this second time that you are super careful that the shift forks all stay in alignment with each other.
      I wish there was an easier way to reset the shift forks to neutral without taking the tranny apart again but unfortunately there isn't. Please let me know if this works for you, if you're still having problems you know where to find me!
