Queuing up high profile drops by holding B ahead of time before any targets become visible or while in midair will also prevent you from air tackling. Queueing up drops before landing at the edge of flat ledges also has unique behavior that will change the angle of decent to go straight downwards instead of a wide arc, useful for safety catching ledges from high roofs without hurting yourself
Normally you can only catch ledge to the front and sides, but when using a straight drop you can also catch back, including onto the same object you just dropped off of for a lightning fast way to get into a cat hang

Regardless of how handicapped the parkour might be in Mirage, I'm definitely going to milk it for what it's worth. Just hoping it improves on the RPG parkour mechanics, at least. Also, glad you like these videos!

@@nahin1968btw, MY personal quality check in the map parkour is "i can actually get to almost any point of the map without touch the groud?" And the response in AC 3 is no, the roads make the houses very spaced and its a pain to find a rope to pass the street, i think that if they placed more ropes or use more trees in the city would could be better.

very informative video! I certainly know pretty much everything about parkour in AC games, and I think I'm actually good in it, but it's still good to systematise my knowledge and tap buttons not when my intuition says to do so, but when it is actually needed. I hope it will help me to control characters better in Kenways saga games.

Greats tips man I have been using these tips, made my gameplay so much better one thing I can't still do is inertia can you specify the inputs I let go of high profile and and keep holding movement keys shays just stays still also that vault to hang I can do a vault but not a hang along with it .
As far as vault to hang, if Shay is just doing a slow vault over without turning to hang, the ground on the far side is probably too close and you need to find a spot with a slightly larger dropoff.
In regards to inertia, I would definitely recommend checking out the guide Jcers made for AC3 on parkour down, he goes over it in great detail.

Here's some more movement techniques you can use
Manually Jumping into a sprint is faster than just holding Sprint. This is because Edwards has to go through the start up animation of walk>jog>sprint. With a manual jump not only do you get a burst of movement you also instantly go into a sprint once you land. This trick is often used by speedrunners. Do note that chaining jumps together is slower though.
When landing there's three distinct landing animations
Rolling: Holding your movement input forwards will cause Edward to roll assuming the height is not extreme
Low Profile: Edward will land on a bit more softly if you do not hold movement input or High Profile and this can be used to quicken your landing after a high fall
High Profile: Edward will land harshly on the ground if you do not hold movement input but hold High Profile. Not the fastest but you can continue holding High Profile for a super hero landing ; )

I never know that if you use X/O (A/B) while highprofile will make you move up and down, all i know is holding R2 for flashy running and X when i need to climb up, usually im not climbing down
Black Flag has arguably the best parkour in the series. Imo Unity is probably 2nd. Syndicate parkour is highly underrated due to the rope launcher and the building layout being to far to cross the map with only parkour.
Wish they would bring this system back unrefined(black flag) or refined(syndicate).
One thing to note, you didn’t mention side or back ejects being still in the game. If I want to style I do add those into my movements, it also bring nostalgia from AC2 movement which is one of my favorite of the series.
That low profile vault to a ledge grab is pretty cool when you style run and I’ve used it more times than I can count.
Wish this game gets more praised than it does. 😂 it’s my favorite AC game. Story wise is top notch, wish the writers got more games to make. Only thing wrong is that fucking modern day. They should’ve waited to kill Desmond as he was tied to the kenway family or continue using him instead of giving us a few games of shitty modern days.
Unity would’ve been GOLDEN if it had Kenways and Syndicates camera shake 😩😤

At 3:05 you mention holding the Jump Botton to climb over obstacles instead of going around them. Is this only for High Profile or Low Profile or both ? I'm assuming it's for Low Profile as High Profile + Movement input + Jump creates a jump as said at the start, but I'm not certain. I hope I made myself understandable, and it's a great guide by the way: I've just started the game, it's my first AC and I felt like there was much more to parkour than just holding RT and running into any obstacle on my way, and your guide made me discover how deep the mechanics actually are, I just need to practice now, so thank you for this work !
You are welcome, and I'm so excited for you to experience the game for the first time! To vault over obstacles you have to hold either the jump button or the interact/drop button at the same time as high profile

If your running from enemies keep tapping RT whilst running it makes the camera angle go abit more wide so can see alot more.

There was something I discovered in Rogue and I've still to see anyone mention it. When on a pole to swing I found that holding the camera up at a certain angle when choosing to go next while you're swinging would have Shay priorities the roof edge above the next beam I could've jumped on. I tested it multiple times at that location and it seems very consistent. So with that you can either choose to go up, straight or down with holding B. I've been trying to replicate it in black flag and even Liberation lol but cant seem to get it.

I just got a pc and bought assassins creed unity and I want to mod the aesthetic to have better shading and ray tracing (better graphics) but idk what I’m doing can you make a video showing how to install visual mods in unity
I haven't really played around with that kind of stuff myself so as of yet I don't possess the know-how to make a guide. That being said, it's still a possibility down the road.
Hey Jcers, this is very helpful. I have 300+ hours on Black flag and didnt know about the mechanic at 5:57. Releasing high profile and holding forward will make Edward perform that beautiful decent animation almost every time.

@@UserNot_Known Hahaha no worries! Yeah the move is very contextual so you just need to keep an eye out for situations with obstacles directly beneath you, and then release high profile while still moving forward

I got to say i played ac4 againa nd the psrkour is great. Its very much like ac2 etc.
However, i was kind of disappointed how it doesnt have much button input variety. Also, some mechanics like side ejects you cant dk it until the end of your climb instead of whenever you like which was disappointing.
Overall, its amazing but it could've been given more freedom
I agree, the cancellableness of animations like wallruns into ejects of the original games was superior. That being said, the addition of a concrete "parkour down" button letting us force drops off of anything is nice, and inertia works in very cool ways in the Keyway games

I have everything turned up to the highest available setting except the AA is on TAA x2 and PhysX and motion blur are set to off.

I'm very far from being an expert on those games, so probably not any time soon, but you should check out Kinography's channel as he has numerous guides and tutorials that go in depth on the mechanics of the Ezio games! He just released a parkour down tutorial a couple days ago so you should check that out!

What are you expectations for Mirage? Just Valhalla with some tweaks? Or a significant overhaul?
Unfortunately, significant overhaul is already out of the question if the footage we've seen from gameplay demos is anything to go off of, unless you're referring purely to the control side of things (which and how many buttons are used to control parkour movements in what ways) and even then it doesn't look much more advanced or intricate that what we had in the RPGs. Based on what I've heard, the only "changes" to parkour come down to the speed of certain animations, along with the addition of a few brand new animations.
@@Dallin_S All which sucks tbh. I have to say what I hate the MOST abijt the parkour of the last 2 games is how ‘floaty’ they feel. Like how can Eivor/Kassandra make a leap from a cat hang and they’re 10M escalating up a building. Also when they free running forwards it’s like they’re doing such unnatural leaps from bollard to bollard which I can’t describe well but I’m sure you know what I mean.

There is something i didn't quiet get, to perform the little low profile vault to hang position does it works only on very very specific contexts ? I tried it near the tavern located in the port at Great Inagua, but it didn't seem to work 😭
It only works in places you would otherwise be able to perform a vault over, i.e. the ground has to be relatively in range

I just got this game and i was wondering, can you crouch? Because for example the beginning where you save the merchant guy i crouch in the leaves but when i leave then he just stands straight up not stealthy at all
The only way to crouch manually is to hold the parkour button and the jump button while standing still. There is no dedicated crouch button, as originally assassin's creed games were focused on social stealth (blending with the crowd) rather than traditional line-of-sight stealth

My problem with rogue is the side ejects on buildings.. they always bug out or just flat out don’t work, have the time I feel like I’m not doing it fast enough and other times it feels like I pm not doing it right

@@elreydeva3006 Well sometimes certain contexts make the character prioritize ejecting a certain way, even if it doesn't make much since. For example he will target the tops of window shutters instead of the top of the roof. I haven't really figured out a way to make that consistent.

No input to jog on mnk, unfortunately. It's only possible on joystick.

I bought Odyssey on ps4 (thats also how I have ac3 cus I got the gold edition) and I had some leftover money on the account since then, so I was able to buy Black Flag with said money. This does mean I'll be playing Black Flag on ps5, but I'd imagine that's fine. It's just the standard edition, by the way. Unsure if I'll buy the dlc. Anyways, have a fantastic fay!
@@riskyworks Yeah the console version is fine afaik, limited to 30 fps though. And the DLC isn't really a huge deal, unless you want to play Freedom Cry but you can always get it later on. Enjoy the game! I'm excited for you😃

Yeah, imo this is definitely a game to play with a controller if you have one, even on PC. Among other things, you can't do the middle speed jog animation on M n K.

It is pretty tricky to time. Essentially you can only perform the turn vault on walls facing a drop enough that is small enough for Edward to simply vault over at high speed. To do the turn vault you hold down the drop/interact button OR hold the legs/jump button, and tap high profile at the LAST POSSIBLE MOMENT before Edward hits the wall. It is difficult to figure out the timing so you might need to experiment a bit

I'm not really sure, and wouldn't advise it since in most countries it is probably illegal. That being said, you can get it for super cheap on sale on Steam, or you might try different cd key websites if you really want to save money. It's an old enough game they don't usually charge full price for it anymore.
AC Black flag doesn't have advanced parkour system.
