Why I love ASSASSIN'S CREED NEXUS VR.

- Assassin's Creed Nexus VR really exceeded my expectations. I went into this game expecting it to be another licensed VR cash grab, but came out more invested in the series than ever. AC Nexus is a near perfect translation of the Assassin's Creed franchise into VR, and is a must-play for true fans of the series. But of course, as you'll see, there are still plenty of flaws that I hope they address in a sequel.
It still blows my mind that this game is running on standalone Quest 2/Quest 3. Ezio, Connor, and Kassandra have never looked better. Ok that's a lie, this still kinda looks like a PS3 era game. Which reminds me, all you PCVR users out there, sorry that Meta keeps gatekeeping exclusive games like this. Feel free the rant about that in the comments, my videos could use the engagement...
Thanks to KAT VR for sponsoring this video!

5:19 You playing with the model plane and then spotting the actual plane and getting excited like a little child is the cutest thing 🥰😂
Honestly, it’s one of my favorite games ever. Feels fresh and interesting and looks surprisingly good for quest. It’s best when I role play an assassin, talking out loud and moving like I’m in a movie makes it much better too lol.
same profile picture.
Also try Asgards wrath 2
@@MobikSaysStufffr, two of the best vr games Ive ever played within a month of eachother. Eating so good
As a big Dishonored fan and someone who restart from the last checkpoint everytime i'm spotted, I absolutely loved ACN, the melee combat is definitely not great but as you said, we simply have not to use it unless absolutely forced to, especially when knifed are that good
Same I totally avoid combat when I can and this game is so freaking satisfying when doing stealth properly
i love the combat but it is at times annoying when you know you blocked a hit but it still hit you
been a bit since i thought about dishonored, that would also make an incredible VR game
This really makes me want to get a Quest 3
It's great on quest 2 I play it on quest 2 and it was amazing
Asgard’s Wrath 2 is really good too
U won't regret getting the Quest 3. The blurriness from the Q2 doesn't exist on these new lenses. I can't play my Quest 2 after trying out the new lenses
Quest 2 is easily the greatest device I owned and I have a lot and very picky when it comes to tech. It has to be great in a lot of ways to earn my praise. Althought the lack of more decent software and ecosystem limitation is the only downside of it
Trust me you dont, i regret buying quest except if you got already an ps5 or sum but everything is paid and not many options to play and free stuff are mostly trash
One thing I love is the parkour. I actually prefer over all other AC games’, since it’s so responsive, as instead of waiting for the character to do what you’re trying to do, you’re the one executing it, allowing for 100% control.
Starting this feels like it should have always been this way.
5:23 was gold
hehe
Congrats Virtual Bro. Glad to see that your channel keeps growing. Amazing editing and video presentation. Keep it up you have my full support.
Thank you so much! Your support keeps me going!
Not only are these videos entertaining, but they also help me make decisions on what games to get. Thanks Virtual Bro Reviews for the work put into your content.
I can't belive I've been watching this channel regularly for a year since that first video and didn't even realize until you thanked me that I've been here from the start... Wild... It's been a great ride!
I gotta be honest, I'm surprised you mentioned the FPS issue... I didn't have a single problem like that on my Quest 2. Same with the recallibration, I only had that happen once and it was due to the headset running low on battery. I do hope they fix those issues for anyone that's suffering them!
Regarding the combat, I honestly really liked it, even if it felt kinda clunky sometimes when fighting multiple enemies. What I absolutely loved was that, once you're surrounded, you can REALLY take advantage of everything you can do; launch yourself against ranged enemies to get them before they shoot (you can even hit their weapon while they aim to stop them from shooting), then throw daggers to stop others as you fight one enemy, reposition, and so on. It feels SO good once you get the hang of it.
Anyway, great review and amazing video! And congratulations on the channel growing so much, it deserves even more!
I really like the end of this video. The success of these videos shows the potential of these games even if theyre still developing.
This assassins creed game feels like the true start of VR being included in the big guys gaming space.
Thank you!! And I totally agree, this game is really validating for the VR industry! I hope it sells well enough to justify more!
So I’m a few hours into the game. And I have been definitely enjoying it. It’s one of the better VR experiences I’ve had in a while. My biggest gripe with the game would be that it shows me where all of the guards are all the time. Weather with that white circle or the alert thing above their heads. I would rather it not tell me and just use audio cues when they’ve spotted me. Other than that I think it’s great!
Great point! I wish there was a setting to turn the HUD off entirely for more immersion!
It's strange that there isn't an option for that considering other assassins creed games have it. I turn of most of the Hud when I play Unity.
@@davidalvarado9957 No hud unity is goated
This channel has brought my attention to so many games thank you so much for everything VBR.
You’re absolutely welcome :)
First time I seen your channel or videos and you absolutely nailed it compared to the other videos out there on assassin's Creed. I will be sure to watch your other videos and enjoy your content thank you for making a video that supports people to purchase games like this instead of looking at only the negative where it would put off a new VR enthusiasts and perhaps the developers to create a second game, we need more content like this because we need more games like this especially on the new stand-alone VR units.
The bit where you're playing with the glider toy and then see the real glider made me laugh out loud😂
Killer video as always! We’re pretty much on the exact same Assassins Creed wavelength it seems 💯
Kat VR integration on point too 🤣
love the channel bro, you made me buy my first vr headset can't wait to get it in a few days.
That's so awesome! Thanks for the support!!
I saw that broken edge video, got the game and wanted to show my appreciation. Then I realized how much of an amazing youtuber you are so I stuck around and get games you recommend, thank you again keep up the good work
I appreciate that! Thank you :)
youre videos are so well made, i subbed after watching only two. Keep it up
I've been enjoying every single video
keep it up man
Thanks bro, been here since your first videos:)
Sadly for your watch time, i don't want spoilers but you convinced me to play this game and that it is waaaay better than i hoped for. Good job Ubisoft, i never thought i would say that again
Thanks for the comment!
Thank you very much to provide knowledge to this GenerationBreaking advance in gaming hystorie. Seeing forward to include a VR set in my EQ at some day. Seems to become a very must in the future.
Over 40k now! Love your content man!
Why did they make this a Quest exclusive 😭
This is my overall game of the year. It feels like the good ol' days of AC! This game needs more reviews like this.
dawg i love the game so much, most likely the goat of existing VR stealth/combat games. also thanks for the tip about recalibration, i really needed that one. it got confusing on why my grabs weren't landing.
Im i mission 8 and loving this game very much. It makes you feel like you are real assassin and just walking around, interacting with people and climbing everywhere you want is so fun. Amazing game. I hope i will get some dlc maybe with more chalenges or new modes to have more fun with it.
W video you sold me on getting the game. i was thinking about getting it now i know i wanna get it
I remember seeing your first video and thinking it was one of many videos from a huge channel and then realizing that it was a channels first video! I was so impressed!
I appreciate that! And thank you for commenting :)
Did you just reply in like 10 minutes! Wow! Also, Thanks to you I have Broken Edge, Breachers, Dungeons of Eternity, and Out of the Shadows and they are my 4 favorite games!
and again a great video, thanks for your content, you really do a very good job of being entertaining
thank you for commenting :))
I played Nexus as a tester in June last year (2022). They acted on all my feedback, except for the combat mechanics, the parry and counter trope doesn't carry well to VR where you're not in 3rd person. The rest of the game even back then was amazing.
Well done making this game 🧡💚.
Feels like what the first game should be.
Great and qualitative content!
Awesome video man
I have watched the first video and i liked it, and now this is a Banger too
I just wish one day vr becomes afordable where i live, even the quest 2 is too expensive ahaha.
Keep the good work
when i watched your video i thought you were well known
subscribed + very underrated youtuber
Thanks :)
just being in accient greece and being able to sit down and... just relax... is amazing
been waiting for this game since announcement. after watching this review i want to buy this RIGHT NOW
man i always wanted to see AC in first person, this is amazing
Im srry what! Your channel is not a year old yet! I even watched that vr pvp video and loved it! Unfortunately I can't play VR because our quest 2 got sunburnt and it got lost. However I love your channel and all of your videos!
this is 100% one of my favorite VR games ever, hell, one of my favorite video games ever. and i’ve played a lot of video games
Me too. The platforming and parkour is SO GOOD!
Wow i was sceptical too, but this is defenetly on my vr games list
The red vignetting upon taking damage inhibits my enjoyment of this title. It also looks like they just pasted a png image over the lenses, but it is not wide enough to cover the FOV of my Quest Pro. Performance is spotty, with pixelation. I want to love it, but hope they patch it up.
Good point. I actually was super disappointed there was no way to turn off the HUD completely. I would definitely appreciate that as well!
I love that you immediately touched on the topic, which was the reason i started to search for videos on ACN.
I am so disappointed with combat. This almost turn-based style is so annoying and it's also off-putting, how enemies charge up their attack. I am already in blocking stance and they do a slow-mo wind up (even on highest difficulty). If i need to block before i can attack, at least attack me quick.
Its such a great game! Just finished it a couple of days ago and now on to Ashards Wraith 2! But when I get through that I do plan on going back to ACN and 100% it. Solid 8/10! Hopefully a sequel is being made since I know this game is selling very well on quest. Next is Bulletstorm VR and Attack on Titan VR and maybe GTA San Andreas 🤞
This video mad entertaining
The day I started to play this made me feel like a badass
I agree on wanting naval combat in vr, it would be so cool!
Great video! I think I'm going to pick this game up
Thank you! Let me know how you like it!
i know nothing about that flying thingy but i was like noooooooooooooooo when you said you couldnt fly it. someting straight out of a movie
The biggest problem they need to fix is it being a quest exclusive
@M-Theory-um8tp good to know...
I would say this is a fun game for the immersion of feeling like an assassin, and stealth gameplay is great. The combat and parkour however are quite janky and feel buggy and unresponsive, with the character rarely doing exactly what you want them to. I think you expressed clearly my thoughts on the combat, but I have different thoughts on the parkour and climbing:
I legitimately thought the final boss of the game was going to be a ledge I had to jump up to and grab midair, because the game would just never register when I wanted to grab ledges and climbing holds midair. I literally got stuck on the first ledge grabbing tutorial in the game, spending nearly 10 minutes to grab onto the ledge. Additionally, the character would often randomly let go or launch themselves sideways for no reason, which is just more infuriating every time it happens, and you take fall damage.
The game sorely lacks any ability to climb down a ledge, and I found I got stuck on rooftops multiple times, forced to jump and take fall damage as my only way of getting down. Fortunately, your fall damage is really low, and I never actually died to it, even when jumping from some crazy heights. For some reason, you also can no longer do leaps of faith wherever you want, only from designated jumping points. There were many more gripes I had with the climbing and parkour systems, like how you can't run while looking to the side, how the character sometimes refuses to jump when you need them to, and more, but all in all, I would say they definitely have a LONG way to go before the parkour feels good.
Despite this I had a lot of fun overall.
I really wish they added Aguilar instead of Kassandra. Would’ve made the hidden blade make more sense, given something new to explore and would’ve given him something since they want to use him in everything other than an actual game
Walking into Monteriggioni in VR was such a nostalgic moment, loved it...
Really like the game, sure it has its problems but overall a really great experience
I completely agree! And I had the same incredibly nostalgic feeling seeing that location in VR. To me, this game proves that it can be done, now they just need to iterate and improve with a sequel.
should make a review of Into the radius! It has been one of my favorite vr games so far and would be the perfect game to talk about imo!
New goated vr CZcamsr.
I really wish there was a parkour mode instead of having to find a memory to parkour around monteriggioni
I had thought it would be cool to continue this trend and do a new trio of assassins too. But I think it would be better if they committed to a new location and new assassins' story. Maybe Spain, it could have cool naval combat as well.
Being honest without sugar coating i enjoyed the combat and im a person who plays blade and sorcery religiously
I definitely see how it can be fun, especially if you also really like VR combat games like Until You Fall
@@VirtualBroVR yeah I like that game too so it makes some sense
I honestly think its the price. Most VR games are for the most part pretty accessible in terms of price. It doesn't feel like a huge commitment like a normal AAA game price. This AC VR game is close to that AAA price and I feel that's the large reason of why not many might be excited. AC VR looks great but if you don't already own some of the other standout titles you have to make that comparison and for the same price you can get 2-3 solid titles too.
But it does look amazing and I know I'll be grabbing it on it's first sale.
It’s amazing. I mean. Just so fluid.
Just got it myself, waiting for the install so hope it’s good!
I got it, and also finished the game entirely, EXTREMELY GOOD!
awesome video bro
Appreciate it!!
Damn! I would've never expected this game to be so good!
just got my Quest 3, buying the game right now. I'm a huge Assassin's creed fan.
I think I’m going to get this game thank you for telling me about it😄
You’re welcome! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
5:24 This scene you recorded feels just like it would be from a movie LOL
Damn
Being able to explore Monteriggioni would be worth it alone
Shame that there's no AC 1 content, i guess
Also Morena Baccarin🙂
Very good and solid review.☝ AC is my absolute favorite VR experience now. I really can't compare it with anything else! I think this game should only be played on hard difficulty if you want it show itself fully, including melee combat as on hard difficulty enemies move faster and block harder, so it feels really really great and immersive. The combat is really versatile and limited only by imagination. For whoever will be reading on Q3(at least up to firmware v60) any heavy game will runs much smother if you start it load to some menu and then quit and restart. AC's performance optimization is really impressive.
Thanks for the tips! I totally agree with recommending the higher difficulties!
I've been blown away by VR experiences before on the Quest, but AC Nexus hits a new high.
I can't wait to get my Quest 3 for this game and Blade and Sorcery.
I like the use of your hands
god i wish this was on the PSVR2, i bought this one for Horizon call of the mountain then found out like two weeks later about nexus and was soul crushed XD i had spent months trying to figure out which headset i wanted too. it was devastating
Imagine assassins creed black flag in VR riding the open seas in the jackdaw plundering riches from other ships
It’s crazy that this is my first ac game 😂😂 it’s so good too
You had me at "the girl from deadpool"
Also this game has the BEST compatability I have every seen in a VR game
Edvard, arno, and jacob would be awesome trio in next vr title
Amazing video-from the editing to the narration. It’s wonderful; I just hope it’s 100% unbiased, but that’s unlikely, considering it’s a sponsored video.
It was sponsored by KAT VR not Ubisoft or Assassins Creed so no worries! But thank you!
Woah, that's amazing. Im buying Quest 3. That's lol like dream came true
Very impressive parkour and stealth, like you can physically move body to the bushes 😮
And see myself as full body assassin . OMG OMG 😱
It’s the quest exclusive for me, Joe awesome this game almost was if they just decided to bring it to PC
I've never played the other assasins creed games but playing nexus kinda makes me want to try them. nexus is so fun. it also kinda makes me hope that we'll somehow get a dishonored vr game someday since the verticallity and running on rooftops reminds me so much of dishonored, it'd be so sick to see that in vr even though I know it probably will never happen lol
well you could say that "vampire the masquerade" is simillar to dishonored
play. black. flag.
@@LunaticStruggler I like the look of that too and will try it sometime
I really cant wait to play this, but for the sequel, i think its obvious whos getting in. Black flag, AC 1, and every other option but unity, shattering my heart into a million peices
bro is easily the top vr youtuber in my book
Aw thank you so much.
Man, I love this game.
I am still waiting for them to port Dishonored to Vr. Feels like the most logical game to choose since its practicly made for vr
This game brought assassin's creed back for it I finally felt as if I was playing an assassin's creed again, and I agree with your points besides 1 which was diving into the wacky things, at least for me thats what killed assassin's creed, adding all the mythology it was working well with the apple and pieces of eden, so for it to go into that more I think will just make assasins creed vr as (imo) bad as assassin's creed is now
They definitely should change the combat it's fun ish but playing other games where I can strike when ever I want is a lot more fun
I actually kinda agree! I mainly didn’t like when most recent games like Valhalla and Mirage went superrrr into combining Norse mythology into the AC universe. But I figure, since they’re gonna do it anyways, we might as well get a super trippy but cool VR dream sequence out of it haha
I love this game. If it had released a few days prior, it would have won the game awards best VR
"the girl" very respectful, classy man.
i still have a quest 1 and its nearly unplayable. and im waiting for valves new headset before buying one. but when i do get that, im for SURE picking this game up.
I'd love it too... If it came to steam
The way I look at games like this is that even if it isn’t perfect, it’s trying something different. As long as the game is fun and try’s to be innovative, a few bugs isn’t a deal breaker
REAL
In assassins creed i never cared about body physics due to the ac style and nature of lock on third person combat. But games like dying light i can see wanting more physics in the body and that has been done with the walking dead.
Bro I need this RIGHT NOW. 5:33 noooooo
The only thing is, its really hard to use hidden blades in combat. For whatever reason every time you deflect someones attack it sends you backwards. This sucks because it basically makes it impossible to run back to them and stab them. And even when you try to the game only allows you to get so close without physically having to step closer to them in order to stab em. I think they intentionally made it impossible to actually commit to fighting with hidden blades in the game because if we can do it in VR then we will want to do it in the actual games.
wow. yess stealth focused.
Could you please add links for the music used in the video
Great video btw
