- Disney parks have been infamous for their numerous amounts of Ghost Reports, from the Space Mountain Single Rider ghost to the Spirit who plays pranks on Cast Members at Disney World's Pirates of the Caribbean. However, very few people know the story of Disney's Haunted Steam Locomotive. Is this a friendly spirit or is it something much darker? Watch to find out!

So after watching this I remember riding the pirates of the Caribbean attraction and they were freaking out and saying someone touched them and I thought they were joking around but now I’m convinced lol I really enjoy your content btw
The fact we "can't confirm" he died on the footplate, is actually confirmation he DIDN'T as even Disney wouldn't be able to keep the press from running a story with the headline "Disneyland train driver dies on shift," if the opportunity arose.
keep up the great videos !!! love the spooky vibe of this one
The ghost could be that of engineer “Brownie”, another old retired ex-railroad worker who came aboard sometime after Harley’s death.
You know just because there’s a giant space heater with an engine AKA a steam train that does not mean that it’s hot. In the summer it gets really warm but in the winter it’s really cold so cold there’s seat heaters. So I think these engineers are just having fun with each other. Railroaders are a crazy bunch. They are a cool bunch though. As the mater of the fact I am on my way to be one.
I’ve never heard of steam locomotives having seat heaters, but I do know some steam locomotives in colder locations used to use various forms of insulation in the cab.
@@ChriswithaK yes they also have kertens to hold any heat in the cab. Also back in the day they would have to have each hole for pipes completely sealed. I think engineers are just having fun with the rookies.
Yes, that’s what I alluded to at the end of my video. It might have been a prank on newer engineer
@@ChriswithaK indeed
I have a copy of Harley’s death certificate. He died at 1:20 am at Palm Harbor hospital in Garden Grove. He was born in Iowa on Christmas Eve in 1894. He was a WW I veteran. He’s buried at Westminster Memorial Park Mortuary. Cause of death listed as subarachnoid hemorrhage and hypertensive heart disease.
When did he die?
Howdy! I just discovered your channel, and being a railfan and a fan of Disney, I'm already hooked! I'm looking forward to seeing everything you've got here! This video too, was really interesting I was never aware that the Disneyland Railroad has a ghost story attached to it, but it was really cool to learn about nonetheless!
Same here, I'm a Jersey Central guy as you can tell by my pfp
Late Night Rides on the Train are FANTASTIC. I caught video on one of the trains and the boiler was literally spitting fire. It was soo amazing. Wish I still had those photos
The reason it was spitting fire.. it was the human bodies they needed to feed the train to keep it alive.. burning under high combustion.
The train lived on the souls of kidnapped children "lost in the park"
@@garystinten9339 that was possibly because one of the train's crew may have feeding more fuel to the steam engine's fire?
don't know anything about oil fired steam locos
The most random video to ever be recomended to me
"Cold spots... strange things to feel given the nature of operating a steam locomotive"
So, fun thing about that - due to the relatively efficient design of steam locomotive boilers, the cab often wouldn't get that hot. If it was cold outside, it would often be cold in the cab as well unless you kept the firebox door open. Thing is, you don't want to keep the firebox open like that, since it drastically reduces the efficiency of the boiler.
Yes, I tried to bring light to some of those things later on in the video
Awesome 😊
Elgin is a true madlad
your background music gave me ptsd [I'm in Hello Dolly]
So in the TtTE universe there's the Fat Controller on Sodor and the Spitting Controller in Disneyland.
you said the cold spots is unusual but you would be surprised how different the firebox and engine cab can be
Those stories were from the engineers who worked on the railroad, it’s not my interpretation
I hate TUHBAHHHHCO
well, i think the bell was just ringing because of the strong wind in the disney park, or because i pressed the subscribe button.
Elgin's corpse was fed to the locomotive after he died.. his soul is connected to the train..
He is likely in Purgatory, you should look up the Miracle of the Sun
I did a footplate ride on the E.P. Ripley, where the engineer could have been Ilgen's younger brother: czcams.com/video/Vm2offHgT04/video.html
toe-bauk-oh? hunting? WRONG!
I just watched some seconds i just know its the owners ghost
ta-back-o not toe-bok-o
We want Johnny Depp back I'll walk Disney has to do is apologize they accused him of something that was not true he's the true Jack Sparrow
“At the heart of every legend there is a grain of truth.” ― Michael Scott
It is possible that the ghost reports are in fact real, but it's not likely that Harley Ilgen's spirit would be doing anything purely to spook his fellow railroaders. A little prank here and there, sure... but I think he just wants to make sure that those operating his adoptive child (the Fred Gurley, which fun fact is a Baldwin 2-4-4T built in the 1890s) are doing so safely and without putting unnecessary stress on the locomotive.
That is very true. That’s what I explained at the end of the video
I've been on the train 4 times
And I can confirm that this spooky shit is real

@Chris with a K - If you had been an Aussie or Britisher, Canadian or even a New Zealander telling this story, I'd have been inclined to take your word for this story. But you Americans are infamous for your habits of embellishing stories and adding excessive hyperbole that the stories you tell, even if true, *cannot* be taken seriously. America's credibility is *GONE, LONG GONE, NEVER TO BE REGAINED!*
Ironic, since you put Aussie as well as British people in there. Stay closed-minded my friend
@@ChriswithaK I said what I said because you Americans have the unfortunate tendency to hype up your stories whereas Australians, Brits, Canadians and New Zealanders present their stories in a straight-forward, no-nonsense fashion, with *ABSOLUTELY NO HYPE!*
@@neilforbes416 Lol and Assuies don't overhype stories around jump bears, the Great Emu War, and how everything in their country kills them? While Brits don't overhype stories from WWII like with the HMS Glowworm or things relating to the Crown?
I shared your original comment with one of my friends in the UK and we had a great laugh over it. I'm gonna take a wild guess and say you didn't even watch the entire video since a whole section of it is dedicated to disproving the story and saying how this was a legend, or in other words, a story passed down through word of mouth and can get distorted from the passage of time.
Given the stance of your comment, I wouldn't be surprised if you haven't talked to a real Aussie or Brit before.
@@ChriswithaK For a start, they're *Drop-bears* not jump-bears and the supposed *Great Emu Wars* was a plague of emus overrunning farms and causing nuisance to farmers.. They're part of legend, nothing more. And you forgot the *Bunyip* which is part of Aboriginal folklore.
I see, that’s interesting, I didn’t know that. My main point of this matter is the fact that everyone in every culture will overhype things. Saying that all Americans overhype stories is like saying all Brits drink tea. Sure it’s true in most cases, but not everyone falls under that umbrella. I don’t care if you make fun of or criticize me, but when people, especially those well versed in information like yourself, make generalized claims on a stereotype, it really annoys me
