Disney Debate Critical Drinker On Piers Morgan & Get Nuked

  • In a shocking turn of events The Critical Drinker joined a news panel debate on Piers Morgan's show where he along with Nerdrotic debated a Disney representative on why Disney is failing as a company and the Critical Drinker made so many bulletproof arguments against the recent Disney movies that it is only right I react to this video as it really sums up every way Disney has failed as a studio, a business and as filmmakers, from the MCU to Star Wars, all of their franchises have been absolutely nuked.
    **Disclaimer I wasn't sure if the man they debated works for Disney or just supports Disney, due to the title of the video I react to it seemed like he worked for Disney however I am not sure personally.

      It's not just "woke" or whatever. They also encourage awful mindsets. There's believing in yourself (generally good) and then there's being born perfect and smart and strong, with no effort or failing or mistakes, and having to force the world to acknowledge that you're already totally developed and don't need no man/parents/teachers/other perspectives. I dont like this messaging.

      Time and holding the line against cancel culture has allowed these two, to bring the consumer perspective to the mainstream.
      Activists have been working to sever the connection between industry and consumer.
      This is a welcome first step, but it needs to be maintained and grown so that reason and logic... Not to mention honest opinions of consumers rule what drives industry again.

    This analysis is inadvertently touching on Critical Drinker's biggest problem: he refuses to attribute the failure of modern media directly to leftism. His implication is always that there's a correct way to propagandize the audience; if leftist activists were only more clever, more subtle, and more capable, then he would take no issue with their messaging. In reality, it is the leftist worldview itself that is directly at odds with quality storytelling. Feminism has given us the girl boss characters who shatter our suspension of disbelief and flatten our character arcs. Critical Theory brought us the anti-Western values of moral relativism, which has manifested as widespread subversion in media. Racial identity politics have injected tokenism and strife everywhere you look. These CZcams critics continue to characterize the decline of entertainment media as predictable product of incompetence, but that's simply not the case. Leftist ideology is fundamentally incompatible with quality narrative design. The sooner people realize this, the sooner we can go about fixing it.

    Jesse Grant often simplifies the issues. He says: "Diversity doesn´t make a film bad or good it´s the quality of the story that matters." Yes but if an actor is chosen merely because she is a woman or black then the quality of the acting probably isn´t as good as it could have been. And it´s the same for the writers, the directors, and so on. So when diversity is your main goal and you have a good story the result is probably shitty.

    • @billjacobs521
      @billjacobs521 Před 10 dny

      Yes, I agree, but he's not wrong either--the RESULTS of the diversity are the problem, not the diversity. You can't ignore the cause, no, but you also can't ignore the consequences either, or else you actually come across like you just don't want gay people in media or whatever.

    What is you did not mention is that diverse films often feature misandry and humiliation of males.
    Has a 2018, men bought 84% of movie tickets and they are the majority of the audience in many film genres.
    Making a film that's not made for men and features hatred and humiliation of men as well as betrayal of men as dislikeable and incompetent is a great way to lose the male portion of your audience.
    Even saying the movie wasn't made for the male gaze in a magazine article in June before the movie was released, Birds of Prey still had a 54% male audience. And the director still complained that not enough men came to see it instead of asking why more women didn't go to see it.

    I'm 64 years old. Since I was in high school, TV "debates" have consisted of three liberals vs. one conservative, with the "impartial" host helping out the libs whenever they stumbled and cutting off the conservative whenever he made a great point. So the complaint that Morgan didn't have equal representation is at best to me a "so what?" BTW, the Disney guy's argument that a movie where you don't pick characters and writers to fit tick off boxes would result in all white men is ridiculous. How about picking people to write and act in a movie based on talent, experience, knowledge of the subject matter, and how well they fit the part? That would be the opposite of what he's advocating.
