wow, they have really changed around this season. I admit I was wrong about them cutting the second battle, but they put Raphtalia and Naphomi together in the other world so they are really trying to compress this season.
I feel like this season might unintentionally kill off the series as a whole. They tried to get to the action so fast that they failed as a whole and now a really important arc is just a mess to sit through

Is not uncommon for a second season to kill a serie or send it to oblivion even when the first one was good
You're not wrong. I understand why they wanted to move to the actiion faster because its A LOT of building things up to move on to the next arc and some may lose interest in that; however, its important to have these events in the story or else...you get this. A series that feels like it had one major plot and then it kind of fades into obscurity after they moved past that plot point. Buildint it up would have shown why the Spirit Tortoise is important and would have set the scene as this isn't the first time the author does this in order to move on to something new. Now it just feels like...filler.
Thank you from all this Shield Hero content. I bought all light novels after seeing your videos on season 1, and I love this story, and wish others could enjoy it at least half as much as I do. It is unfortunate how season 2 is basically any% speedrun of the story.
Literally did the same, finished season one, watched this channel, bought all the LNs and have loved it since. Can’t say I’m thrilled with them rushing to get to the next arc but after all the setbacks but still hoping the upcoming action/arc make up for the mishaps
I’ve been meaning to continue to watch it but I think I’ve dropped it. I haven’t been keeping up with it at all Seeing as how it was treated, I’m a lot less motivated

It's nice to See i'm not the only one that decided to buy the novels after watching AniNews. I, too, really don't like how they skipped important context but at the same time I want to get volume 14-16 adapted as soon as possible because it's my second favourite part of the story. Season 3 should be as great as S1 so i hope we won't stop at only three and maybe even get the whole story adapted someday.
I'm glad this channel's around because if you've never read The Manga or LN's, & only had this season of the Anime to Gauge the entire series off. You'd have NO clue how much soruce material is missing from Season 2. & some people might end up hating the entire series because of it. 🤦🏿♂️
That is the biggest loss of all. The anime is the “face” of your series. You ain’t gonna get a new audience to read your Source Material if you drive them away. Get a bad reputation as an anime, and you lose any chance of getting their spending power as well.
@@nhagan001 to a western audience yes, but in Japan an anime is normally just something that is used to promote the sourse material. I cannot tell you the number of anime that only have 1 season and will never have another one and was only created to drive the sales of its light novel or manga.
Would also like to point out that while Naofumi and Co. were inside the turtle, it was the coalition along with Fitoria on a freaking tank that was keeping the turtle at bay. The anime completely skipped Fitoria's involvement at all. Its sad to see all this skipping and rearrangement of content that gets rid of any context as to what is going on
@@MegaGreenkirby Speaking from the future here, you are indeed correct. She has not been cut from this battle. But as hinted at by the last part of S1 being from volume TEN of the LN, while this part of S2 is volume 6, rearrangement is the name of the game. Granted, Tensura played that game too, though not in as pronounced a way, with the state visit to Dwargon.

Kamina always talked about “yours is the drill that will pierce the heavens!”… He never mentioned the drill that is used to dig the grave for series that die from bad adaptations.
That is because it is not a drill. It is a hole eaten by acid which spills to the ground straight out of the stomach after a series has been disemboweled by the adaptation.
In all honesty if it didn't already have a confirmed season 3 I would be so concerned with the direction at this point that I may have just dropped it and I don't do that easily. Looking at it that way it makes sense that they announced it so early. Almost like they knew people would need an assurance that they'll fill in the details later.
having a 3rd season confirmed won't be a reassurance for this show, it actually might do the opposite, i can't find anyone praising this season but they are already working on season 3? most people won't even finish this season, let alone look forward to the next. You have the anime "Kingdom" as proof of that, because of the first 2 seasons CGI the 3rd season and 4th are completely irrelevant, and the only problem is the CGI not story.

I'm also sure there are those who have dropped it because, like you've said, the third season makes it seem like they don't care and are rushing through season two. However I'm not one of those people yet, because there is a season three I'm still hopeful they'll elaborate on some of the missing plot points and go into a little more depth here and there. Though I'm also one of those people who would never drop an anime for bad CGI as in your Kingdom example. They're really doing this backwards. It reminds of the aftermath of the cancelled live-action Cowboy Bebop series. The lead writer of the show went on a very salty tirade on Twitter and one tweet that stuck out to me was her saying something like, "Damn shame! We had some really awesome scripts prepared for season 2!" She made it sound like they were saving the best for later and really put their A game into season 2. My first thought was, "You're saving the best stuff for later? You don't do that. You need to bring your A game to everything you do or else you'll ultimately flub it and people will lose interest." Them supposedly fixing the shortcomings of season 2 of Shield Hero with season 3 feels the same way. I'm going to continue watching because I'm curious to see if/how they fix the shortcomings thus far but fumbling too hard with season 2 will just leave fewer people willing to entertain season 3.
I swear man. The smoothe brain logic these ppl have are quite something. "I know this arc was setup but i didnt like it, so its good that they're rushing the setup for the next arc." Literally forgetting the setup. Just imagine Toei rushing Zou and Whole Cake just so to get to Wano Faster in One Piece. Idiotic takes these ppl.

@@cizz8315 As a manga reader I stopped watching season 2 3 mins into the first episode. But I've been down on the anime adaptation since the second cour of season 1. It didn't have the same tone as the manga which turned me off but I looked past it because I enjoy the source material. This season makes me think they never read the source material at all.

This season has sped run itself into a hole to the point that if I wasn't watching your cut content I'd be so f****** lost and I love watching this show religiously, feels like I waited 3 years for them to give me the last season of game of thrones all over again
Seriously they took soo much time for second season and what we got in the ending a total abomination of very good arc i don't mind if they took whole season 2 to cover only this arc but had to put 2 arc in only 1season with only 13 episode
I get that they want to get to the Fantasy World #2 arc, but they've botched the Spirit Tortoise Incident so hard that I'm appalled the author/story board team let it slide. The rematch fight and exploring the caverns is the best part of the arc, what with Naofumi needing to work with L'Arc, Glass, the Shadows and different military forces of the different countries, cutting down regenerating walls trying to reach Kyo. It's such a good showcase of the girl's (Raphtalia and Filo) progression and new abilities... Like, they just gloss over that Filo can use Drifta tier magic now! THAT'S A BIG DEAL!

People have said they're rushing to reach the Otherworld arc, and it was assumed it would start in season 3. Unless they drag the hell out of the rest of season 2 and whip out filler and/or recap episodes, the beginning of the next arc will be in this season.
Oh I wish I could assume they were only going to cover the beginning... at the rate they are going (roughly 100 pages an episode), they could easily cover Novels 8 and 9 of the Otherworld Arc...
I remember the manga having Fitoria show up to help fight the tortoise too. They really cut corners this season cause a lot of important details and even some of the cooler stuff was cut this time.
I can appreciate the desire to help us understand... unfortunately they did such a horrible job with the first episode of the season that it broke my give a shit for the show, which is unfortunate because I seriously love the "Betrayed by my allies and came back super strong" storyline.
I get people of the LN to have an issue with this arc because it is seen a bad due to poor pacing. The anime could have fixed this but skipping over shit is hurting the overall show to a point I bet even the people calling the arc bad can see the damage being done.

I’ve been a fan of Shield Hero since volume 3 of English release and reading over comments it’s great that you’ve inspired others to pick up and read shield hero. Really unfortunate the start of S2 is confusing but hopefully people will enjoy the novels just as much as I have been.

Since the anime could not pull off the incredible stuff, I officially resorted to using light novels and manga to gather the whole story. These make me love _The Rising of the Shield Hero_ even more since the anime's second season is inadequate! Thank you for sharing the missing content from the anime! Thanks for making these videos, context is everything and the anime is missing that. Were getting a lot less introspection from Naofumi as the main character as well so its making it harder to relate with him and his struggle.
I really want to believe they're rushing this arc because they found it boring so they're rushing until they get to the next arc, in which they'll fix the pacing.
haven't watched season two yet but hearing al this bad news i may Just purchase the novels and read them instead. This is the reason why i never touched Arifureta hearing your analyst and seeing what they did on ep one made me drop the show completely. I just hope RE zero if its gets a season 3 and Overlord 4 isn't a complete train reck
I think that this arc is just supposed set up the next one. Hopefully, the second half of this season and all of next season are better and take the pacing back to what it felt like in S1.

@@rene280195 I don't think it was that they found the arc "as bad". They probably got hit hard by covid, and it forded delays and changes to what was originally planned. They probably decided to cut some content for the sake of the rest of the show. Hopefully. Again, it's just what I think. Never made that claim you said out of nowhere.
@@andrewisbetterthanyou oh no, I don't think You made any claim, my comment is that when You (the producers) take this kind of decisitions to "cut a hand to save the arm", You do so to achieve a better outcome (or at least a less bad one), but You can grow bold with that decision making, like with fillers or clichés, if You line too much in it to save face, You get dependent of it. What worries me is that to keep delivering a serie the take a rout that end up saving the torse but cutting the hands, the legs and one arm, because they stopped trying to save anything that seens difficult ti do or time consumming or expensive. Again I don't think You are making any estatement, this is me expresing my fear for the serie's future.
What's sad anime gets even more confusing with each episode. Nothing is explained and new things are added, but in anime original way, which we do find out here. Thank you for cut content, but I see you are skipping things with hope of them being covered in anime later. I think you could do full cut content for this arc for anime only like myself. It would make more sense and probably clarify so many stupid decisions made by anime route. Maybe if I would do rewatch recently I would be matching dots better than now, but 2nd season isn't clearly indicating, that tortoise is connected to what Fitoria was saying to Naofumi.

If he can make the floodio queen his slave and he can surely may the spirit Tortoise his slave to. Shoot he could’ve made his own fortress on the back of the turtle. If the shield hero was going to have a spirit beast you think it would be a turtle! Maybe I’m thinking too deeply into this.

Not just the lack of context, but not a single bit of investment in the characters. Like, part of what made the first season good was the intense opposition of opinions between the Shield Hero and the other three. They're just gone. Everyone just agrees in this season. The parts where there _were_ legit conflict have been skimmed over or skipped.
I did notice that the turtle was the reason for saving the world or saving its people and how saving the world would need great cost. Also seeing some of the details that they have not shown was good to see.
By the way... In episode 1 or 2, the other 3 heroes looked like they straight up declined to fight the turtle disaster at all. If I were only watching the anime, 3heroes just basically said "this disaster isn't the waves, we we are out". Now suddenly they have fought the turtle and lost? And are lost? Like... Where exactly did we get that informatiom from. In the anime it was just mentioned "oh by the way, this" in passing like Naofumi was looking for them all along. When in fact it hadn't been mentioned before.

People have said they're rushing to reach the Otherworld arc, and it was assumed it would start in season 3. Unless they drag the hell out of the rest of season 2 and whip out filler and/or recap episodes, the beginning of the next arc will be in this season.
Oh I wish I could assume they were only going to cover the beginning... at the rate they are going (roughly 100 pages an episode), they could easily cover Novels 8 and 9 of the Otherworld Arc...
Kizuna is in the OP, they will definetly start if not finish that arc this season.

They really cut corners this season cause a lot of important details and even some of the cooler stuff was cut this time.

I can appreciate the desire to help us understand... unfortunately they did such a horrible job with the first episode of the season that it broke my give a shit for the show, which is unfortunate because I seriously love the "Betrayed by my allies and came back super strong" storyline.
It sounds like the tortoise is an antibody for the world. While the waves are a disease. To me anyway.
I get people of the LN to have an issue with this arc because it is seen a bad due to poor pacing. The anime could have fixed this but skipping over shit is hurting the overall show to a point I bet even the people calling the arc bad can see the damage being done.

Really unfortunate the start of S2 is confusing but hopefully people will enjoy the novels just as much as I have been.

Since the anime could not pull off the incredible stuff, I officially resorted to using light novels and manga to gather the whole story. These make me love _The Rising of the Shield Hero_ even more since the anime's second season is inadequate! Thank you for sharing the missing content from the anime! haven't watched season two yet but hearing al this bad news i may Just purchase the novels and read them instead. This is the reason why i never touched Arifureta hearing your analyst and seeing what they did on ep one made me drop the show completely. I just hope RE zero if its gets a season 3 and Overlord 4 isn't a complete train reck

I think that this arc is just supposed set up the next one. Hopefully, the second half of this season and all of next season are better and take the pacing back to what it felt like in S1.

@@rene280195 I don't think it was that they found the arc "as bad". They probably got hit hard by covid, and it forded delays and changes to what was originally planned. They probably decided to cut some content for the sake of the rest of the show. Hopefully. Again, it's just what I think. Never made that claim you said out of nowhere.
@@andrewisbetterthanyou oh no, I don't think You made any claim, my comment is that when You (the producers) take this kind of decisitions to "cut a hand to save the arm", You do so to achieve a better outcome (or at least a less bad one), but You can grow bold with that decision making, like with fillers or clichés, if You line too much in it to save face, You get dependent of it.
What worries me is that to keep delivering a serie the take a rout that end up saving the torse but cutting the hands, the legs and one arm, because they stopped trying to save anything that seens difficult ti do or time consumming or expensive.
Again I don't think You are making any estatement, this is me expresing my fear for the serie's future.

What's sad anime gets even more confusing with each episode. Nothing is explained and new things are added, but in anime original way, which we do find out here. Thank you for cut content, but I see you are skipping things with hope of them being covered in anime later. I think you could do full cut content for this arc for anime only like myself. It would make more sense and probably clarify so many stupid decisions made by anime route. Maybe if I would do rewatch recently I would be matching dots better than now, but 2nd season isn't clearly indicating, that tortoise is connected to what Fitoria was saying to Naofumi.

Just having one season with 24 episodes definitely would've a better idea for this anime. Would've gave way more time for the other plots even if the future for more seasons would've been uncertain.

Not just the lack of context, but not a single bit of investment in the characters. Like, part of what made the first season good was the intense opposition of opinions between the Shield Hero and the other three. They're just gone. Everyone just agrees in this season. The parts where there _were_ legit conflict have been skimmed over or skipped.

By the way... In episode 1 or 2, the other 3 heroes looked like they straight up declined to fight the turtle disaster at all.
If I were only watching the anime, 3heroes just basically said "this disaster isn't the waves, we we are out".
Now suddenly they have fought the turtle and lost? And are lost? Like... Where exactly did we get that informatiom from. In the anime it was just mentioned "oh by the way, this" in passing like Naofumi was looking for them all along. When in fact it hadn't been mentioned before.
