It got bad enough that he had to quit writing back in 2011, and his artist decided it would be best to not try and keep it going without him, despite its popularity both domestically and abroad.
Strangely, still fresh in my mind even after a year. That fight with Glass in the Anime always felt a bit too truncated, now I understand why. But I remember it well simply due to the animators ability to put real emotion into Glass's character during the last bit of the fight. You could really see that she believed that she absolutely had to defeat Naofumi right then and there, but that she also knew (at the end) that she had no chance. But was going to try anyway despite the likelihood that she would die. And in the same scene, Naofumi knew what he had to do but still didn't really want to kill someone who clearly wasn't an evil person. -Matt
Given your explanation of Glass, I've realised that she's actually quite similar to Petelgeuse in the sense that they're both spirits and are vulnerable to specific attacks
I recall a friend of mine described Glass’s race as such: “Rather than having a separate HP and MP, they’re pooled into one big Energy bar. So, attacks from the Soul Eater, which normally drains SP, are quite effective. Whereas SP recovery items are also highly effective” Also, I though Betelgeuse was a human hopped up with Sloth Authority
I actually don't have any issue with how the anime finished season 1. At the time, it wasn't known whether or not it was going to get more seasons, and ep 25 felt like a good ending if it didn't.
Considering that they announced S2 AND S3 less than 3 months later, S2 had to be in production for a good while by then. It was still a-OK as its own thing, but could've been an even cooler fight (though I know the poor animators were already underpaid and overworked as is)
It's a shame the adaptation misses some important points in the series. But I can give them a little bit of respect for doing their own thing, but I would like to see a more faithful adaptation when it comes to season 2.

I think Overlord will get season 4 but not in 2020 or 2021 as they would have caught up to light novel and then they would have to delay season 5 or 6 for a long time.
Shield hero is so good :D I loved the whole section where he took the other heroes views into account and realised his shield could do the same things if he believed. It hearkens back to episode 1, where each of them had a game in their world they were familiar with and it's skewing their views of this world and preventing them from adapting their expectations, whilst Naofumi had no such experience and is now learning everything he can to stay ahead. I can't wait for them to finally listen to him when he tells them it works if you believe, and each of them should become more powerful by a factor of 3 or 4. But Spear Douche can just keep being a crotch kick bag for Filo though.

In exchange, iirc, they can’t use health or mana potions, but SP potions work to fully restore their energy bar, which allowed her explosive burst of strength. In battle, they start with a significantly larger “mana/SP” pool, but lose “health” as they use their skills.
The other heroes strike me as a mix between incompetent coworkers and know-nothing know-it-all gamers. They're frustrating in a kinda fun way and I want to see them dragged, kicking and screaming, into cooperation.

He took so completing this series that I had re-watched shield hero and read volumes 1-15 of the light novel now knowing what will happen in the next 2 seasons at least. Also I don't like how you kind of leaves out the meeting they had after the wave cause while reading the light novel that is one of my favorite parts cause tell the other heroes how useless they are. I felt you could of covered the rest of the time on the island cause other of my favorite parts is Naofumi reaction to the bow hero kicking Rishia, Naofumi then SHOWS the bow hero how weak he. Causing me to hate the bow hero more then the spear hero but Bitch is still my most hated character at the moment. I fell in love with series though the anime an you series help me push me to reading the light novels cause you took so long to complete. I still like the anime but the last episode irritates me cause the how he builds the town even though he doesn't get the idea to build it until after meeting someone in volume 8-9 and doesn't implement it until 10 and how he got the mage lady and blacksmiths to join even though they didn't join in the light novel.
Spear hero is a nice guy, He just an idiot. I thought Sword Hero would be more epic much like a rival(maybe with a dark path) to Naofumi after a certain point maybe that might still happen but I am not sure, he the only one that gave any respect to him at all. Bow Hero is the worst an complete jackass any redemption for him is unlikely. Bitch is still bitch she is somewhat more humble after her life was spared, Leaving her as Spear Guy was to be mean to him of course and to remind him how much an idiot he is. As of the ending point Spear Guy is the easiest for Naofumi to work with but he the weakest of the 4 too most likely.
I still remember the early version of Shield Hero. I didn’t know there was a second version until the anime came out, and realized that thing were changing pretty rapidly.
I love the premise of this story. I love what Shield Hero could have been. I guess the whole thing feels...half baked. The other heroes are interesting in principle, but they're shallow and not a full character in their own right. The world is supposedly full and fleshed out, the Queen is off negotiating treaties with other countries, but...is that it? There's no traveling refugees, there's no merchants who've lost their suppliers, there's no angry ambassadors. All of the conflicts/fights feel blown out of proportion. There's no sense of power scaling. Naofumi and his team have got out of control exponential growth, but it's always never quite enough and he has to resort to dangerous techniques. I want so badly to like this show. But everything feels thrown together so haphazardly. Compared to the masterpiece that is Re:Zero, Shield Hero's characterization, plot, and story structure is trash.
Aninews keeping a schedule vs splitting the story in 1000 iddy biddy pieces. I'll take the latter opinion, keeping the high level of explaining. So it takes a year. No rush. Great work. Looking forward to the next one.
After every episode of the anime i would come to this series. I love this series sm and looking forward to season 2! This is definitely one of my favourite anime isekai out there

There's no traveling refugees, there's no merchants who've lost their suppliers, there's no angry ambassadors.
All of the conflicts/fights feel blown out of proportion. There's no sense of power scaling. Naofumi and his team have got out of control exponential growth, but it's always never quite enough and he has to resort to dangerous techniques.
I want so badly to like this show. But everything feels thrown together so haphazardly. Compared to the masterpiece that is Re:Zero, Shield Hero's characterization, plot, and story structure is trash.
The Manga is better. Still like the anime tho.
