    The CIS are the coolest of the factions. Huge numbers, fewer lives lost, a decent reasoning to go to war and if it weren't for the clone wars series, they wouldn't even appear evil.

    The CIS was a just cause. It's a shame it was manipulated by the Sith like it was.

  • @intergalactichumanempire9759

    A few things I wanna say about the CIS:
    -The reason there were so many "evil" looking characters in the CIS High Command was because many non-humans joined them due to anti-alien bias in the Republic
    -I doubt the CIS was a true democracy, considering that their senate was made up mostly of business owners and other such oligarchs
    -Several militias made up of living people were used in the CIS army
    -Another reason the CIS seceded was because of the Republic's high taxes on popular trade routes

    • @yukonexpatriate4017
      @yukonexpatriate4017 Před 5 lety +20

      It was also pretty clear from several episodes of The Clone Wars that many members of the Separatist Alliance were unaware of the extent to which their faction was essentially a corporatist oligarchy. They recognized that the Trade Federation, Commerce Guild, Techno Union, IG Banking Clan and such were involved on their side, but the overwhelming majority of separatists would have never had the insight that we gained as movie viewers, seeing Dooku and the various figures of the aforementioned oligarchy plotting. Just as the Republic was unaware of the true nature of their leadership, the Independent Systems were unaware of the true nature of theirs.

    Gotta say, buzz droids are the second most terrifying thing in star wars after the force. Also the goofy design and sound they made made them creepy as well as dangerous. I'm surprised the CIS didn't use them more often to infiltrate and rip apart capital ships. Imagine 1 buzz droid that cuts it's way into the engine room.

    Also, one thing I find odd in The Clone Wars, is in the episode where Padme and Ahsoka go to Raxus and meet Mina Bonteri and Lux Bonteri, Ahsoka says to Lux "I wouldn't want to meet you on the battlefield." It's pretty obvious that the Separatists only have Officers with actual military training and experience, so they wouldn't have any sort of volunteer service for civilians.

    • @karhedin
      @karhedin Před 6 lety +8

      well, the ten droids per clones is a basis considering the clone alone with no advantage for both side.
      If the clone got saved by another clone or is ambushing the droids then his kill count could be higher than ten.
      However if the droids have the advantage some clones could die before doing their tenth kill.

      The Separatist Alliance is inludes all who fight together against the Republi, inluding all corporations and militias such as the Umbarans and Techno Union. It was lead by the Separatist Council. The CIS is the civilian government of the worlds who seceded from the Republic. Not all Separatists were Confederates but most either were members of the CIS or were rebelling against the Republi to gain control of their planet then join it.

    The thing is, having droid combatants is not actually as good as it seems. It encourages war and conflict as its main cost is taken away. Also, more civilians would likely be killed in such wars. Not to mention, it means that war is determined by the richest, not by the faction with the most support. On the surface it seems good, but when you dig down to the actual ramifications you realize that a droid army is absolutely not a good or moral idea.

    I always saw the reason for the Jedis' incompetence in war, not the inherent result of their ideology, but because they had been so inactive in combat for the longest time up to that point. I mean, it is implied that the earliest form of jedi were in rigorous conflict with the sith various times in the past. Then again, as you pointed out, there was a disconnect between the Jedi of the past, and the Jedi of the clone wars, so it could be assumed they in their transition from a paramilitary order to peacekeeping task force, they felt a need to ban such material that didn't align with their ideology at the time.... Which is why I felt that one scene in TLJ was soo stupid, with the burning of the Jedi texts.

I would actually like to see some kind of story in Star Wars that gives a nod to the whole "machines becoming self aware" idea. Not a whole movie, but perhaps an episode of a show or something. Someone tries to create some highly advanced droids to defend something but they go rogue like Skynet. Of course they would have to make some twists so it wouldn't be a Terminator copycat in space but I'm sure something interesting could be thought out by some creator out there. It wouldn't be the first time something was copycatted in Star Wars and turned out epic. Remember the Zillo Beast? lol

      To be fair, Katuunko was referring to the *surviving* Jedi, whose training and use of the lightsaber usually put them at an advantage vs hordes of blaster wielding opponents. Not all Jedi trained this way, and they hadn't had a proper battle in what could possibly have been centuries, so it wouldn't be surprising so many would be a little cocky and thus die. You can put many things to bad writing/ decisions on the part of Lucas, but I really don't feel this is one of those things.

    The fact that Sidious was setting them up to fail the whole time certainly didn't help, but I think the reason the Separatists lost goes a bit deeper: they were at their core, companies. Companies exist to make money, and they make money by selling stuff, not fighting wars. Once they had the backing of actual planetary and system governments interested in leaving the Republic, they had a better chance, but that wasn't until years into the conflict. On their own, they were hosed: they'd be bankrupt in a year or two.

      What *about* them? Mercenaries have been around for centuries, and they only ever go into action when someone else is paying for it. They don't declare war on their own, because who's paying them in that case? Defense contractors only make money if it's someone else's conflict. The Separatist War would be like if, say, Raytheon decided to start launching its own missiles at some country and sent its security guards to invade.

      You mean like how the Banking Clan was hiking interest rates for both sides? The Trade Federation was abusing military power for trade lane rights, and to call in debts. The Techno Union was given R&D contracts with no bidding. War is when companies can make infinite profit with no repercussions, ending the war was the worst thing they could do.
      This was mirrored in our modern day, with the middle eastern conflicts. That conflict was extended years beyond what could have been a short victory, because of war profiteering at the core of American political power. The CIS is very similar to America, in the fact that they have a heavily competitive market, that has been taken over by a handful of exceedingly powerful companies. Even more so companies are considered member states of the CIS, so they can press their goals and monetary gains, disguised as nationalism and patriotic ideals.

    Well if the original trilogy was made after the prequels then the republic would have used droids.The Jedi really should not have supported a slave army and I think droids would suit them better.The only reason (in my opinion) that they used clones was because it would be easier to explain the transition to stormtroopers in the original trilogy

    Pretty sure some youtuber did the math for the costs of the droids vs clones. And with just feeding them for 10 years *at double the aging rate* training, arming, and resupplying them *they still have to eat.* From a cost standpoint, 1 clone has to defeat roughly 100 droids to break even.

    One of the things that bothered me was the incompetence of the droid army.
    We've all played video games where someone has an aimbot and they literally do not miss a shot.
    These are programs that any computer today can run, I have difficulty believing the droids used in the Clone Wars wouldn't basically be aimbot droids. I don't see how the Clones could ever compete with that beyond human creativity and very unique battle tactics.

    According to lore, a clone trooper would kill on average 200 B1 droids before finally dying in combat. Many didnt reach that, but many surpassed it, and clones like ARC troopers and commandos regularly reached into the thousands

    The CIS would have been better phasing out B2 droids. Using B1 droids just as defence/occupation forces, maintanece droids, pilot droids, security droids. Which would drastically reduce numbers. Allowing more funding to producing more BX droids for offensive forces.

      Dhū Yamnot Exactly. B2 just aren't efficient. They are slow with less dexterity. B1 droids could fill the majority of roles in the military. While BX droids would be the offensive arm of the CIS military.
