  • The Sith often times are described as the evil counterparts of the Jedi. But we don't really see things in black and white everything is kind of a muddy greyish color to us. Today we're going to explain to you guys why the Sith aren't really all that bad.

      orrthehunter Perhaps a new neutral order will be formed? That's what Luke implied in a trailer for the Last Jedi, anyways. Maybe they'll all use purple lightsabers, symbolizing the balance of red (Sith) and blue (Jedi). I mean, Mace Windu, as stubborn and foolish as he was, technically demonstrated traits of both the Jedi and Sith, and ultimately, his open ended point of view almost allowed him to kill the emperor and save everything, simply because he had less morals to hold him back in the end. If anything, this connection would make sense if the whole "Snoke is Mace Windu" theory ends up being true. Even though I highly doubt that...here's to blindly hoping!

    • @orrthehunter
      @orrthehunter Před 6 lety +5

      We as the story goes on it seems the Jedi are destined to one day be destroyed as well. From the Prophecy the chosen one will bring balance to the Force but the Jedi only saw it as a one sided Prophecy but the truth is both Jedi and Sith are the source of the imbalance to the Force which is why both Jedi and Sith had to be destroyed. Anakin basically fulfilled this Prophecy by destroying the Jedi Order first which eventually lead to the Jedi slowing dying over time due to the few survivors and eventually he killed Palpatine resulting in the destruction of the Sith by having the last and only 2 Sith die.

    Darth Vader would have been a much better ruler for the Empire than Palpatine. Palpatine was addicted to power and achieving more was his only goal in life. He did not care about what happened to the Galaxy. He didn't know the true state of affairs. He only focused other dark side of the force. Vader however, would have been actively engaged in ruling the Empire. Palpatine was just a crazed sociopath who was born into a wealthy family. He never really experienced the trials necessary to make a true Sith. Vader had grown up a slave, and experienced life differently, losing more, going through the trials that forge someone who truly can rule the Galaxy. Palpatine was experienced in politics, but only because he could manipulate everyone around him and bend them to his will. Vader also had much more military experience than Palpatine and many generals. He would be actively engaged in crushing the rebellion and would have the sense not to build Death Stars. To sum up, I think Darth Vader would made a much better candidate for emperor tha Palpatine. Long live the Empire!

    The problem with the Sith; there's a reason it was called the *Dark* Council, and why the emperor is called the *Dark* Lord. If you were a Sith of the Light, you either had to keep that fact as hidden as that Sith Shrine the Jedi of old(I think even before SWTOR), in their odd hubris, built their famous temple over(never leave an enemy stronghold in tact), or you were basically #1 enemy of the empire, with practically *every* Sith(soldier or Force user), hunting you down till you either turned to the dark side, or were killed(and they probably let anyone who would listen know you were a Sith, so even dogmatic Jedi and Republic forces were after you as well).
    Another thing most Sith seem to magnify; anger and hate. Yes, they open themselves to *all* emotions, but they primarily focus on anger and hate. Living for anger and hatred, that's no life at all. And I've seen a number of people in reality in the media seemingly living a life bent on it(inspiring anger and hatred, and wanting to spread that destructive virus to everyone).
    Was the Old Jedi Order often a little too dogmatic and narrow? Yes, that's why Luke modified the *New* Jedi Order to be more embracing of emotions. He found Jedi *AND* Sith knowledge wherever he could, to make a more, balanced, Jedi. This is, of couse, now part of "legends"😑.
    Personally, I'd be with the Jedi, I'd be a gray Jedi, but still on their side.
    Flowing through all, there is balance
    There is no peace without a passion to create
    There is no passion without peace to guide
    Knowledge stagnates without the strength to act
    Power blinds without the serenity to see
    There is freedom in life
    There is purpose in death
    The Force is all things and I am the Force
    This would be *my* code☺.
    "It's an older code, but it checks out"😀(when Shuttle Tiderian was going to the moon of Endor).

What needs to be done is finding the balance between light and dark. Don't let the Force or your emotions control you with out controlling them. That is the way of the Grey Jedi; Balance.

    • @RandemFellow
      @RandemFellow Před 6 lety +14

      Grey Jedi are overrated. Sure they struck a balance between both sides but the Darkside is malignant in nature. It's like the One Ring or a drug. It promises power and riches and fortune for those brave enough to ride it's waves. Although you may ride them for a point and find moderate success you'll ultimately become a slave to it's destructive power.
      The path of grey Jedi is no path for the timid or weak willed. How many stories are there of Jedi trying to use dark side techniques for good only to wind up turning evil.

      datboi knows best But they are just the opposite side of the coin rigid to a fault and value order above all else asking followers to to throw away emotions (which you kinda need) they are pretty much apathetic to the plight of others and more concerned that there is an order that,it serves "good" is irrelevant to them long as it serves order as they see it. Chaos can be good and is just important as order.

      I disagree. I think the whole idea of rule of two is wrong and as much a broken idea as the Gungans and mediclori-whatsoever. At first it is typical Sith hybriss to think you are smarter than all the great lords before you. It may be a idea that every lord should have his own follower, but just ONE lord and ONE who follows him? This was not the way of the old Sith, of all the high lords, and it is a little bit daring to think you are the one who understand the essence of the Sith so much better than all of them - better than Exar Kun, Naga Sadow, Fredom Nadd and how all the legends Sith lords were called.
      The second flaw in the idea is to think that Sith would hold a rule as sacred just for centuries, or even for a longer time. This is against anything they stand for - power is the thing they hold up. They may respect what other lords before have done and said, but they are not their slaves, nor slaves of a canon like the jedi. A Sith uses the credo as guidance, but it is not a thing which hold him without any free movement. So of course later lords would in many cases break the rule just because they think THEY are smarter than Bane.
      And last, the Sith did not really respect this rule - or let us say, they used it in VERY special way. Palpatine for example had more followers than just one at time in both canon and legends who was very powerful in using the force, may it be the dark side (like the inquisitors in rebels) or a mix of both (like Mara Jade and surely other in legends)

    Off topic with the video but i have to ask, did Revan want the exile to die in Malachor V? Because i found an interesting conversation with Hk-47 in Kotor 2 who said that Revan pitied the exile for his force bonding ability which proved it can be lethal to it's user when the people he/she bonds with is killed. This coupled with the fact revan spent a lot of time studying force bonds before the mandalorian wars Revan could have seen the exile as a valuable asset as well as a major threat so he sent his best general with the mass shadow generator to be killed by the immense death and destruction at Malachor V. It's a theory that probably would have been explored further in Kotor 3 if it wasn't canceled.

    • @vojtechjehlicka7000
      @vojtechjehlicka7000 Před 6 lety +1

      Yokesplooge I think Kreia said that those who died at Malachor were Revan's strongest supporters. So it seem to me that he send her there to die as he knew she wouldn't turn to the dark side and if she survived she could have become dangerous to his plans. Of course, this explanation is irrelevant when you play DS character.

    • @yokesplooge2852
      @yokesplooge2852 Před 6 lety

      Vojtěch Jehlička Actually Hk-47 said that Revan orchestrated not only the failed attempt at the exile's life but those of his Army during the Mandolorian wars whose loyalty to Revan was in question. Revan Made the Exile blow up Malachor V as well as a large chunk of his fleet that was inflated with Revan's critic's which would have killed the Exile too because of his bonding ability. The reward would be Revan gaining a fleet with loyal Followers as well as a potential threat eliminated.

    If you read the EU, this is why Luke was offered the Throne by the Lost Sith. It's because between the Jedi and the Sith, he is the only one that allowed his own judgement to dictate his moralistic spectrum instead of going drunk with power or being a meditative, distant recluse who had forsaken his own humanity for the sake of a greater truth. A lot of people wonder how Luke's array of Force Powers--many of which are Dark Sided--don't corrupt him, but if you look at how Luke approaches the Dark Side, you can see that he very much views the Force an aspect and not a Dogma to dictate the flow of his life, where his priorities are his friends, family and his beloved Jedi Academy.
    You can see the difference between Luke's approach to teaching with the way the old Jedi Masters taught and passed on the knowledge of The Force in that he emphasizes his students to not let The Force dominate their next course of action. He allows the environment to be that of a large, rambunctious family instead of the forsaking of the "burden" of emotions and connections. It's why the Lost Sith were so impressed by him--because Luke's the only guy in the thousands of years of Jedi and Sith lore to have the common sense to view the Force as a tool from the workshed instead of a Magic Conch Shell.

    @CteCrassus Před 6 lety +5

    I am honestly confused by this video. The title says "5 Reasons why the Sith aren't that bad" but the only thing I see is "5 further reasons why the Sith are assholes".
    1.- Only a half-truth. The Jedi didn't actually force themselves on their pupils. They tried only to train children but they didn't do so without consent of their legal guardians and even respected the child's decision. The Jedi Order, however, was very respected and having a child sent to train under them was considered a great honor.
    The Sith, on the other hand, didn't like getting "no" for an answer. In the words of Darth Sidious, "If you will not turn, young Skywalker, you will die". The Sith might get ambitious and unscrupulous people to join, but they more often than not crush people and force them to join them on pain of death, or manipulate them until they join them out of despair (like Anakin). Their allure might be the promise of unfettered power, but their main tools are also intimidation and outright extortion.
    2.- The Original Sith pretty much validated all the reasons why the Jedi Order established a system that limited the speed of progression, enforced humility, personal responsibility and respect and curtailed emotional extremes, because after the OS plumbed the depths of the Dark Side they pretty much went power mad and launched a galaxy-wide rampage of conquest and plunder. Also, it is an objective falsehood that the Sith were balanced in their use of the Force, because it is nigh impossible for a Dark Side user to use the Light Side, as the Light Side is impossible to use while dominated by rage, grief, anger or passion, all of which are a Sith's fulcrum of power. Those that managed to do that weren't Sith, but what was called "Grey Jedi" (Force users that tried to balance the Light and Dark) and Jedi were always wary of them because the Force is bit like a steep slope: It's a lot easier to tumble down than to climb up.
    3.- The Sith's definition of "powerful" is utterly barbaric. It is basically "who is better at killing their fellows". The Sith way didn't ensure that only the most capable would rise to the top, it would ensure that the ones to rise to the top would be the last ones standing. It is not good enough to win, everyone around you must lose. It is thus no wonder that the vast majority of Sith Lords were violent, destructive, paranoid and utterly lacking in empathy, because only such individuals could have survived the back-stabby meatgrinder that was their education. Maybe that explains how Palpatine was so in control of himself and actually kept his "Sithness" such a well-guarded secret, since he actually murdered his master in his sleep instead of overpowering him like a "proper" Sith would.
    incidentally that is also the reason the Sith lost over and over and over again. The Sith suck at cooperating, since they only value personal power and thus see needing help as a weakness, while the Jedi understand there is strength in unity and would better coordinate and gang together to bring down even the mightiest of Sith Lords.
    And finally, the Jedi were also a true meritocracy. Species is a non-issue, and since they were ascetic power, wealth and former status were also irrelevant. Only wisdom, experience and understanding of the Force (not necessarily mastery) counted, and since the Jedi weren't as laser-focused as the Sith, they also recognized different kinds of mastery which were all kept in the same high regard. The Jedi Order would have a Master of Lore who might possibly not even be that strong in the Force, but he would be respected for his knowledge and wisdom and seen in as high regard as a skilled Blademaster.
    4.- "With great power comes great responsibility" meant that the powerful should be responsible in the use of their power, and his death showed Peter that using his power solely for personal gain was irresponsible. Power without action might be wasteful, but power without restraint is tyranny.
    Also the claim that non-force sensitives are "inferior" and thus should accept the rule of their betters feels extremely... uncomfortable. Being more powerful is not the same as being wiser, or being a more competent leader and statesman. In the words of Ghengis Khan "conquering the world from the back of a horse is easy; getting off the saddle and ruling it is hard". True to those words, the Sith often used their powers to rise to positions of authority only to later run the institutions they ruled straight into the ground, often in flames and killing many along the way. The Jedi refused all kinds of political power because their ideology was extremely aware of the whole "power corrupts" adage. Adding that to the burden of balancing the power awarded by use of the Force was deemed too dangerous a distraction, and the often cut-throat and amoral nature of galactic politics could easily lead to the Dark Side.
    Even Palpatine, who was possibly the best Sith statesman in history, tore the galaxy apart through his draconian policies and in doing so inadvertently engineered the demise of the Empire that was meant to be his life's work.
    5.- What's so awesome about human nature anyways? As a species we're petty, selfish, destructive and short-sighted. The whole point of civilization is curtailing the worst aspects of human nature and fostering the better ones (cooperation, protection of your loved ones, building stuff to last). An asshole that excuses himself by saying its "human nature" is nothing but a pretentious asshole. That's why the Jedi identified themselves as Defenders of Civilization and eventually swore allegiance to the Galactic Republic because, despite its many faults, they saw it as the best exponent of civilization in the galaxy. The Jedi also are not emotionless, just have adamant control of their emotions through discipline. In fact a good Jedi must necessarily be highly empathetic. Jedi feel fear, anger, jealousy and despair like all living beings, but it is the core of Jedi teachings not to let emotions control you, to always keep your head clear and focused and act with reason and restraint. Paradoxically, in their unfettered pursuit of absolute freedom most Sith end up as literal slaves to their own emotions, so convinced that they should not deny themselves anything that they end up almost incapable of doing so, even when it would be advantageous.
    Also keep in mind that in the Star Wars universe there's a lot more than humans floating around (though there are way too many humans for it to be credible, IMHO). The Jedi saw no reason to curtail Ithorian nature of nurturing and preserving life around them, for example, or Celegian introspective and meditative nature (which comes from being a giant, telepathic jellyfish, I suppose).
    As a final addendum, it should be noted that the Force is much more than the Jedi or the Sith. It flows through all living beings. The Dark Side is present in a Mandalorian warlord killing millions in a galactic crusade to make his mandalorian steel balls feel big as much as the Light Side is present in a council choosing peace and diplomacy to reach mutual understanding and cooperation, even if not a single soul involved is Force Sensitive. In accordance with the Laws of Entropy, any idiot with a blaster can cause pain and suffering around him but doing the reverse, making people around you safe, happy and prosperous, takes a lot of effort. Palpatine wouldn't have been capable of starting the Clone Wars and perverting the Republic into the Galactic Empire if the galaxy didn't have quite a bit of Dark already.
    Actually, destroying the Sith or the Jedi is ultimately a futile effort. Killing off all the Sith won't stop Dark Side users from popping up or things going to shit through circumstance or the actions of asshats; and conversely, wiping out the Jedi won't prevent good people from rising up to push back the darkness and fight for a better tomorrow. The whole Jedi-Sith conflict is basically a culture war; two opposing ideologies trying to wipe the other out. Now what the prophecy means with the whole "Balance to the Force" is debatable, because it sounds like the typical cryptic prophecy nonsense that doesn't mean anything without hindsight, but when it is first mentioned in Episode I no one says "Oh, so this kid will kill off the Sith" (mainly because the Jedi believed there were no more Sith to kill, remember?).

    This is absolutely brilliant. THIS is why the Jedi must end. Only the Je'Daii had it right. Also, what's the point is all that Jedi power and ability if you can't use it to pick up chicks (or dudes. I don't judge.)?

      The problem with that "remember Alderan" is the fact that it sound a little bit strange to claim that ONLY Bail Organa and his cool blooded killer of adopted daughter were part of Alderans secreat treason against the Empire and the support of the killing of loyal imperials. Did Bail not say in Rouge One that he has to return to say the people that the war will continue? Surely he made his actions not public, but whe must assume that a higher number of people on Alderan shared his view and actions. Alderan was ever called the heart of the rebellion etc., and as we see in Rebels they provided terrorists with money, information, weapons and even ships which these criminals use to murder thousands of loyal soldiers of the Empire. The hammerhead-corvette who destroyed at least a Star Destroyer in Rouge one (maybe also another) is very likely an Alderanian ship and cause the death of thousands. Bail Organa was present on the meeting of the top terrorists who build the Rebel Alliance (in imperial eyes like a meeting of Spectre in a Bond Movie), and his "innocent" daughter was even present at Scarif. So Alderan was deeply involved in the whole Rebellion, and it seems impossible that this was the work of mom and dad Organa plus their cute little princess. So the destruction of Alderan was surely also revenge for the high losses at Scarif, born out of rage over the years of treason and hidden murder - or at least this is a point of view many imperials would have shared...
