  • Episode 5 of the Acolyte has revealed something that is extremely controversial amongst the fandom. A dark side master that claims to be a Sith or at least that what he want us to think. We take a look at this dark side master and determine whether he's actually a sith lord or just some wanna be dark jedi.

    In the clone wars series, the Jedi literally found out that Dooku (well known Sith at the time) helped create the clone army. The Jedi then decided to cover it up in hopes that the war will end quickly and the problem will resolve itself. The idea that Jedi can’t lie is so childish

      It wasent just politics, it was the right call:
      Revealing the information doesnt change the fact they are still stuck in war with the CIS, all it does is cause division on the Republic side.
      Think about how many worlds may take the news and decide to join the confederacy. Think about how the lack of trust between Jedi and their troops would lead to unnecessary death and losses would result from Generals paranoid their troops are weapons of the Sith? Think of how it helps the narrative the sith intended from the beginning to make it look like the Jedi were behind the war? Think of the riots from the protesters from the war they were already constantly dealing with?

      Jedi label any Force users outside their orthodoxy as Darksiders, or heretics at best. Qymir is saying that he just wants to be free to use his special abilities however he pleases, without answering to a dogmatic hierarchy, and that from the Jedi point of view this makes him evil. Having said that he's involved in a conspiracy to murder law enforcement officers, not exactly campaigning for the rights of retail workers or working in a homeless shelter for war veterans, so his argument that he's the good guy in this equation is kind of weak. He really is a dangerous criminal killing off anyone who gets on his nerves, and the Jedi are absolutely right to try and stop him. Think of a drug dealer or a pimp trying to persuade a potential victim that society is judging them too harshly and that the police are scumbags. They're basically brainwashing strangers to try and make them vulnerable to exploitation and assault. The Jedi may have their issues but they're preferable to being at the mercy of the Sith.

    Even if he is a Sith Lord, it's still possible that he will kill all the witnesses so the Jedi Council never learns that he was a Sith, and even if the Jedi learn he is a Sith is seems plausible that they might cover it up - the Grand Master has already talked about covering up the Jedi murders. It's even possible that Ki-Adi-Mundi will lie to a future Jedi council instead of admitting to the cover up.

    Regarding Mae’s and Osha’s switcheroo, one thing that intrigues me that people that aren’t paying attention enough are calling a plothole is that Mae was about to surrender to the Jedi, but she specifically says surrender to Master Kelnacca. My running theory is that whatever happened in Brendok, from Mae’s point of view what Sol, Indara and Torbin did was significantly worse than what Kelnacca did. My theory is that Mae thinks or saw something that Sol, Indara and Torbin did and for some reason, isn’t as pissed off at him as she is with the others. Also, while she is resisting Jecki’s arrest, the moment she truly gets pissed off is when Jecki accuses her of killing her own family. That’s something that Mae vehemently believes she didn’t do it, from her own point of view.
    As for The Stranger: I believe that the answer is in the middle. He is a Sith Lord. He has a master. But just like he doesn’t like the Jedi, I fully believe that the seeds for him to eventually rebel against the Sith are also there. He wants freedom, and both the Jedi and Sith are too dogmatic for someone so hellbent on doing his own thing. If he survives and we hopefully get a second season, I do think that it might lead up to The Stranger forming its own dark force splinter order. The first of the knights of Ren, perhaps?
    Either way The Acolyte is the most hyped I’ve been for deep lore Star Wars in a good while and I do think that if they stick the landing, this show will be as celebrated as Andor, looking forward for the last three episodes of this season.

    My thoughts are that Qimir is the apprentice, seeking an acolyte as a Master seeks an apprentice.
    Qimir understands the Sith code, he has internalized it, he is constantly quoting it. If he is the apprentice, then as you point out, he must feel held back by his Master. "The Rule of Two" requires that the apprentice become the Master. I think Qimir as Apprentice is seeking to embody the Master through the symbolic act of taking on his own "apprentice" and thereby align his mind with the way his Master thinks so that he may destroy them and take their place.

He may still be under his master's tutelege or i think he ran away from his master as he was eager to use his powers so he is trying to start a new sith group away from his masters. Perhaps at the end of the series, when no-one has killed him, we see his master make quick work of him (force lighting, etc) to show the TRUE power of the sith. The Jedi would have been just as vigilant of a strong dark side user in episode 1 due to this encounter. The whole point is the Jedi would have been more wary of Sidious and Maul and not caught off guard. Jedi complacency due to lack of rivals is essential to the whole story.

    I can see Qimir being a sith apprentice and looking for an acolyte to train so that whenever he kills his master he would already have someone he can make into an apprentice. I don't really see too much of reason why he isn't at least a sith apprentice (but then he might not be?) because he's shown he is good at manipulation, trickery, and the sheer brutality/coldness of a sith. The main thing that I've noticed is how calm and confident he is in when he talks about the code of the sith and the dialogue he has with Sol. Maybe the it's similar to how Bane (the DC version in Batman lol) says this line in the dark knight rises, "It doesn't matter who we are. What matters is our plan." And that quote reminded me of what Qimir says,

There’s a Master and an apprentice, except the apprentice is training up an apprentice of his own for when he kills his master, and so on, and so on.

    Okay, let's just assume that Qimir is NOT a Sith. By the end of this season, it is revealed that he is some sort of talented Dark Side user or whatever -- it doesn't really matter. Anyway, the Jedi Council is told, Qimir was not a Sith. A hundred years pass and Ki-Adi-Mundi is now on the Jedi Council at probably 140 years old. Qui Gon states that he believes that Maul is a Sith Lord. Now, if Qimir, a hundred years previously, was NOT a Sith and Mundi and the Jedi Council know and accept that Qimir was not a Sith, then wouldn't the conversation with Mundi have gone something like this, in The Phantom Menace:
    Qui Gon: He was trained in the Jedi Arts, my only conclusion can be, he is a Sith Lord.
    Ki-Adi-Mundi: Not necessarily, Qui Gon; 100 years ago a powerful dark side user named Qimir killed over half a dozen Jedi, including a Jedi Master, he used a red saber like Maul and dressed in black like you say Maul dressed, yet Qimir was not a Sith, so it is likely this Zabrek is not a Sith either.
    If the council concludes that Qimir is not a Sith, then I feel Mundi would bring up Qimir to Qui Gon as proof that a dark side user with a red saber doesn't mean they have to be a Sith. Since he doesn't mention this in TPM (obviously because TPM was made before The Acolyte) then it would look like Mundi was part of a cover-up of the incident with Qimir, or simply doesn't know the truth about what happened. Otherwise, he would have likely mentioned Qimir to refute Qui Gon's claims about Maul.

    I've seen speculation that Qimir might be a knight of Ren or even the Ren that creates the knights in the first place. If you look up images of the leader (before Ben Solo/Kylo took over) he is usually wearing a helmet and topless save for a loose cloak, a very similar style to what Qimir is wearing when he shows up here. Now, granted there is over 150 years between the two, so that being meant as a clue is probably a reach.
    Nevertheless, I could see him being a precursor since the feeling I get from the knights is like he says, they just want to do what they want and use their power however they want, but the Jedi have so much control during this time that they have to keep it quiet.
    As for the "lore-breaking", it assumes that Qimir is actually Sith and not just, as you say, saying that to stir up the Jedi and also that Ki Adi Mundi even knows about this happening. He may only know that a team went down and only two returned. He is not a high-level council member at this time, so he may not be privy to any discussions of details, especially if it was kept out of any official reports. As I've said, he could be covering up, he could genuinely not know, or he could just not be thinking of this event at the time if it was just one person instead of an entire army like during the Jedi-Sith wars.

    So maybe this is crazy, but maybe the "acolyte" Qimir is after is Sol and his taunting is to make Sol break to the point where he is all fury and anger in his fight. He knows the darkness in Sol's past and is looking to fully turn him. To the Jedi Sol is pure and one of their best. Isn't it just like the sith to take that and destroy it? It gains them a powerful ally, while still in hiding a high ranking figure inside their enemies stronghold, and when revealed will have a devastating psychological effect on their enemy.

    I don't think it is a coincidence or a mistake that Ki-Adi-Mundi, the ONLY character we've seen in the Acolyte who appears in later chronology, is also the exact character who said the Sith haven't been seen in a thousand years. I trust the writers included him for a specific reason.

    I don't think Qimir is a Sith, I think the theme of the show has been the Jedi have a closed-minded view of the Force, that you're either a Jedi or you're evil, so Qimir was saying you would call me a Sith because you are ignorant to other ways; it's a whole non-binary argument. His techniques aren't just Sith either; remember that the way he got in the Jedi's heads was similar to Osha's coven, indicating he is an eclectic practitioner, not limited to any dogmatic faction.

    @Carsisir Před 2 dny +1

    He said the Jedi would consider him a sith, not that he is one. They already showed witches, he could just be his own side branch of dark side force user. Or he could be an apprentice looking to train his own acolyte, Vader had a gaggle of dark side inquisitors under him while Palatine's apprentice, doesn't break the Rule of Two.
    My guess is while Mae may have started the fire, when the Jedi on Brendak went in, the witches probably accused them and attacked, they defended themselves, killing the witches. Sol pressed on to find Osha while the other three retreated. Mae would later find the bodies, giving her the belief that the jedi killed the "unarmed" witches.

  • @Dennis-vh8tz
    @Dennis-vh8tz Před 2 dny +1

    Another thought - the Rule of Two could be lie created by the Sith to deceive both the Jedi and their own apprentices. If the Jedi believe there are only two Sith in vastness of the Galaxy there isn't much point in looking for them as the chances of success are infinitesimal; however, if the Jedi knew or suspected that hundreds or thousands of Sith pairs had infiltrated the Galaxy, the Jedi be far more strongly motivated to hunt for Sith. If an apprentice believes there are no more masters and no other apprentices, then the apprentice has no motive to look for other masters and apprentices who might help the apprentice overthrow the master; however, it apprentices knew there were other masters and each have several apprentices who they kept hidden from each other, then (Sith being Sith) every apprentice would be looking for allies to use against the master.

The one people point out the most is literally where he got shot by Chewbacca's bowcaster, fought against Finn and won (a trained soldier), and fought against Rey and ended in a draw. Rey has extensive combat experience from being hassled by other scrappers, bandits, and wild animals on her home world. Considering his serious injuries, the fact he was too conflicted to be a pure Sith, and that he wants to recruit Rey it's perfectly reasonable it ended in a draw

    This is basically setting up a "there are other Sith sects out there other than the Rule of Two" plot line. They also want to wash said sect of having anything to do with either existing Jedi or Sith, so thus the need to kill everyone who knows about the sect, to preserve the events of the original material while introducing them.
    Also a lazy way to cover up why we've never heard of them, and probably have them return for future projects in Rey's and Ahsoka's timeline. Wouldn't be surprised if this is the setup for extra-galactic hijinks involving the origins of the pet project Dathomir witches coming from another galaxy/replacing the Vong.
    It doesn't sound very interesting, if I'm being honest. Palpatine had the Emperor's Hand created to deal with such 'rivalry' threats in the galaxy. That pretty much solves the whole "There could be others" issue.
    A story about the Hands would be more palatable, while also getting a chance to analyze how non-inducted members of the Jedi or Sith used or interpreted the Force. It would mix the intrigue of Andor, the journey of Mando, and the fights of the Prequels when a genuine threat emerged.
